Spring of Youth – K-drama Episode 4 Recap & Review

Episode 4
Episode 4 of Spring of Youth begins with Tae-yang leaving home for the band performance at the school festival, despite his father's protests. Seo Min-cheol calls Cho Sang-heon, who assures him that the performance won't take place.
At school, Sa Gye and the others are excited to perform. But then a rowdy crowd of people claiming to be Sa Gye's fans turn up at the event and end up wrecking the whole place. The performance is cancelled.
Gyu-ri proves that those people were fake fans which makes Sa Gye suspect Sang-heon is involved. They suddenly realise Bom is missing and Sa Gye confronts Sang-heon about this but he says he doesn't know where she is. Ultimately, he finds Bom near the performance venue but she says she saw some men take Tae-yang away.
Thanks to Sa Gye's hefty donation to the university's hospital, he learns that Seo Min-cheol has admitted Tae-yang as a patient. He's even placed guards outside Tae-yang's VIP room. Sa Gye and the others go to the hospital, where they see a new patient being turned away due to a lack of space. The group makes a big fuss, claiming that Min-cheol himself will sponsor the patient's care. While Min-cheol is dealing with all the public attention, they get Tae-yang out and send the new patient to the VIP room inside.
Tae-yang appreciates this but tells them he's quitting the band because he doesn't want them to get hurt. However, the others convince him to stay on. They even conduct their debut by performing on the street.
Cho Sang-heon's next move is to publish a post that says Sa Gye doesn't value his fans and insults them. As a result, fans turn up outside Ja-young's house to protest. They end up storming inside and making a mess and Sa Gye is forced to jump from the rooftop to the neighbouring building to escape.
At J&J, Ji-na gets in trouble when someone realises The Crown's new song's chorus has been plagiarised from the chorus of an older song. Since the band's schedule is fixed, she has two weeks to find a whole new song. Sometime later, Ji-na realises that the song she stole from Bom has similar chords to The Crown's new song. She decides to use the melody from Bom's song on the new one.
Bom and the others find their band room at school in a mess as well, in protest against Sa Gye. Sa Gye then arrives with more bad news — their band has been suspended. He says the other band, Hanju, has complained against them. Tae-yang leads them to Hanju's band room to confront them and it turns into an all-out brawl.
The principal berates Two of Sa Gye's members for beating up the other band members and they are forced to post a public apology. Later, Tae-yang officially moves out of his house.
Meanwhile, Kim Ja-young makes Sa Gye do chores around the house to make up for the damage his fans did. He sneaks out later and finds a postcard from his mother in the mailbox as he leaves. She seems to be having a good time traveling.
Sa Gye then goes to the store where Bom works and says he wants to go on a date. But she is worried about others finding out. That's when two girls from Bom's old school in the US turn up at the store. They taunt her about her change in financial status and the death of her mother, but Sa Gye stands up for her.
After they leave, Bom agrees to go on a date. They wait in line at a bagel shop but the bagels sell out before they can buy any. However, when they get on a bus, a young student gives Sa Gye her bagel because of how much his music meant to her. It makes Sa Gye a bit emotional.
That night, Bom plays her melody for Sa Gye and says she wants him to sing this song. He describes the dream about the melody and says fate brought him to her. They drink beer under the moonlight and Sa Gye kisses her. Unfortunately, Tae-yang sees this and walks away.
Bom then asks Sa Gye to come visit her mother with her the next day. She also tells him that her mother was brain-dead and Bom agreed to donate her organs. The news sparks a headache for Sa Gye and he starts matching his dreams to Bom's memories around the house.
He later asks Ja-young if Bom was raised in this house and she says she was. Ja-young also tells him that Bom's mother died in a car accident during a typhoon and donated parts of her body, including her eyes. After learning that she died at the same hospital where he was admitted for his eye surgery, Sa Gye finally puts the dots together.
He also recalls accusing Sang-heon about a hit-and-run during the party in Episode 1. At present, Sa Gye goes after Sang-heon.
All this while, Bom is waiting for Sa Gye to show up so they can visit her mother. When a car crashes nearby, she recalls being on the phone with her mother when the crash happened. She gets worried about Sa Gye when she can't get in touch with him. She calls Tae-yang and then passes out at the end of Spring of Youth Episode 4.
The Episode Review
Spring of Youth Episode 4 turns the drama up. The episode is quite fast paced and pretty much rollercoasters through different events, from the school festival debacle to Tae-yang's hospital rescue to the malicious article about Sa Gye and his protesting fans to the brawl between both college bands. Rather than a streamlined flow, the story seems to be jumping from one event to the other and the editing definitely emphasises this.
Sa Gye and Bom's romance turns up as one of these random events and just like Bom, I was surprised to learn that they are officially together now. We never see the aftermath of their kiss from the previous episode and this development feels sudden and unearned. It almost feels like we missed something in the middle.
The show also continues to lean into its melodramatic nature, with decidedly evil villains and caricatures like the school principal. You can't expect a lot of things to make sense in a show where students can just barge into a hospital and do whatever they want. If there's a reason to stick around here, it's the heartwarming camaraderie between the band members. It's the one part of the series that actually taps into character and emotion rather than the plot. But with Tae-yang's desire to protect Bom, that might not last very long.

Race Across The World 2025 winners revealed

Spoiler Alert: Race Across The World 2025 winners revealed and final episode spoilers ahead! Race Across the World 2025 reached its thrilling conclusion with mother and son, Caroline and Tom, becoming the first pair to reach the final checkpoint in Kanniyakumari and claim the £20,000 prize. After thousands of kilometres raced across China, Nepal, and India, the final leg was the closest all teams had been in 51 days. In a final dash to the finish, Caroline and Tom, the first ever mother and son pairing to win, were declared winners of the 14,100km race across the world's largest continent, Asia. Watch Race Across the World on BBC iPlayer and add to your Watchlist Watch Celebrity Race Across the World on BBC iPlayer and add to your Watchlist Sprinting to the finish line, sisters Elizabeth and Letitia, who have remained consistent throughout the race, came in second place, with just 19 minutes between them and the race winners. They were followed by teenage couple Fin and Sioned, while brothers Brian and Melvyn, came in fourth. It was a race to find a boat towards the fishing village of Arockiapuram and there, find the Vattakottai Fort where the last and final sign in book was waiting. As Caroline and Tom turned to the page to discover they had reached the final checkpoint in first place, they hugged, overcome with emotion. An emotional Caroline cried: 'We must never doubt ourselves again. Ever, ever, ever.' Writing their names in the book, Tom said: 'That's a really good feeling, I'm lost for words, I can't believe it. 51 days racing through countries I never thought I'd go to, I never thought we'd come this far, I never thought we'd achieve so much and I've never been prouder of my mum – she got me through it.' As sisters Elizabeth and Letitia turned the page to claim second place, Elizabeth said: 'Ah Tom and Caroline, so close, 19 minutes,' with Letitia adding: 'I'm proud of us'. Just 45 minutes behind the winners, Fin and Sioned arrived in third place. Fin said: 'We've done well.' He added: 'it would have been incredible to have come first, but obviously we can't all come first.. we've gone more than 12000km…' Sioned continued: 'it's been more than just the distance, it's been a journey for us.' Brian and Melvyn, who arrived in fourth place, only 3 hours and 5 minutes behind race winners, said: 'We've done very well actually. Really pleased for the guys that have won it. Beer? Desperately, and definitely!' The final episode saw Caroline and Tom begin the last leg in the lead, 6 hours and 54 minutes ahead of Elizabeth and Letitia. They started from the 7th checkpoint, Panaji in Goa with just over 1000km to traverse across the southern Indian states to reach the finish line at the southernmost tip of India in Kanniyakumari. Arriving into Kanniyakumari by taxi, Tom said how nervous he was, and worried more when he exclaimed: 'I've just seen Fin and Sioned, I promise you, I have, oh no'. Getting caught in a traffic jam, Caroline and Tom were visibly despondent. Receiving their first instructions to reach the tip of India, Caroline and Tom raced through huge crowds of people trying to watch the incredible sunrise but with little time to appreciate the stunning views: 'it's a nice sunrise, bit hard to focus on, but it's nice.' Hot on Caroline and Tom's heels, Elizabeth and Letitia received the next instructions to proceed on foot to the front of Our Lady of Ransom Shrine. Not hesitating to ask multiple people for help, the teams made their way and discovered they must then take a boat to Arockiapuram fishing village. Caroline and Tom secured a boat for 1000 rupees, stressing that they were in a race and the need for speed to their driver. Still worried about having seen Fin and Sioned, Tom said; 'I still can't see Fin and Sioned, I don't know if they can see us.' The teams received a message instructing them to head on foot to the Vattakottai Fort. Running through the winding streets, trying to find the beach, Tom said: 'it's so far out of the way'. On reaching the entrance to the Fort, Caroline and Tom ran in with Caroline asking 'Can you see anyone else, Thomas?' and Tom replying; 'I don't see anyone.' The pair reached the book and discovered they had won the race of a lifetime and a prize of £20,000. Over the eight-part series, the four pairs have raced over 14,000km over 51 days. The teams have successfully journeyed across the world's largest continent, Asia, taking in three of its most diverse and fascinating nations – China, Nepal and India. They've had to navigate crowds, congestion and cultural barriers, as well as a multitude of vast ranging landscapes on an epic journey from The Great Wall of China in northeastern China all the way to the southernmost tip of India – Kanniyakumari – all without smartphones, internet access and bank cards, and armed only with the cash equivalent of flying the route. Following the final episode of Race Across the World, the teams will return for a heart-warming reunion celebration on iPlayer and BBC One on Wednesday 18 June from 9pm. The teams will reflect on their race, including behind-the-scenes insights and unseen moments. This one-off special offers an in-depth and intimate look into how the travellers coped with the trials and tribulations of a life-affirming race, and the impact it's had on their lives and relationships. Race Across The World 2025 Winners Q&A How does it feel to have won Race Across the World? Caroline – It feels absolutely amazing, I'm so sad it's come to the end, that is the worst bit about it. We've enjoyed being with everybody but my God this race has meant so much. We've learnt so much we've enjoyed it and to actually win it as well as to have the experience is the best thing that could have happened to us. Tom – Doing the experience in itself is winning but to actually get to that book first and open it and to see that it was empty was something that I'll remember for the rest of my life. Can you sum the experience up in just a few words? Tom – Best experience of my life. Caroline – Incredible, amazing, valuable in so many ways and a lifetime achievement. Who did you tell first? Caroline – My husband. In the car on the way home, we couldn't hide it. Tom – We made a pact on the plane journey home not to tell anybody, but within 5 minutes of seeing him we let that one go! It was so hard to keep it in! What do you plan on doing with the money? Tom – I haven't really thought about what I'm doing with the money yet. I don't want to be stupid and waste it. Mum and I want to go backpacking again so some of it will be used for that. Caroline – Thomas is starting up a business and its been inspired by India and I'd like to help him with that. VHW

Nintendo says sales of its Switch 2 hit a record within four days

Nintendo says it sold more than 3.5 million of its new Switch 2 gaming consoles within the first four days since its release — breaking a record for the company. In a Wednesday announcement, Nintendo said that this marks the 'highest global sales level' for any of hardware it's sold within that window of time. The Japanese gaming company officially launched the Switch 2 on June 5. Fans of the console's eight-year-old predecessor have been clamoring for an upgrade for years. Throngs of gamers stood in long lines outside stores for the Switch 2's release around the world last week — less than two months after a chaotic rush for preorders quickly sold out. Nintendo is counting on the Switch 2 to boost sagging sales. And in addition to a larger screen and new games, the console has added social features aimed at luring new players into online gaming. Nintendo has said it expects to sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles for the fiscal year through March 2026. The 3.5 million sold in the first four days includes the Nintendo Switch 2's Mario Kart World Bundle, as well as the Switch 2's Japanes e-language and multi-language systems sold in Japan. The Switch 2's baseline price of $449.99 is significantly higher than the original Switch's $299 price tag. While new bells and whistles may account for a sizeable portion of that hike, experts have previously noted that new tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump are also a contributor. Evaluating the impact of these import taxes also led Nintendo to delay its April preorders by several weeks.
