WNBA player Courtney Vandersloot scores ultimate victory over her wife (and teammate!)

Chicago Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot set a record on Thursday night - at the expense of her wife and longtime teammate.
Vandersloot, who tallied 13 points and nine assists in a win against the Dallas Wings, became Chicago's all-time leader in points (3,728) and field goals (1,390).
And the previous record holder was none other than her wife, Allie Quigley, who spent 10 seasons with Chicago from 2013 to 2022 - her last year in the WNBA.
Vandersloot has also spent the majority of her career with the Sky after being drafted by the franchise in 2011.
The now five-time All-Star spent the first 12 seasons of her career in the Midwest before joining the Liberty for two seasons.
She re-joined the Sky in February.
'What means the most is my time spent here,' Vandersloot told reporters afterwards, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. '
'It just speaks to the commitment that I made to the Chicago Sky and their commitment to me as well. They drafted me and let me develop. We had a lot of tough seasons. It wasn't always easy.'
While Vandersloot has now overtaken her wife's record, the couple made tons of memories together on the Sky, as they spent 10 seasons as teammates.
In 2021, both were a vital part of a championship-winning team, while they were both also All-Stars in 2019.
The pair, who were married in 2018, reportedly met in 2013 while traveling back to the US from Europe, where both were playing during the WNBA offseason.
According to Sports Illustrated, they were on the same flight and even in the same limousine to Sky physicals, with Quigley hoping to earn a roster spot after getting a training camp invite.
They began dating the following September - after that year's WNBA season had concluded - and ultimately got married seven years ago in Seattle.
The Sky earned their first win of the season on Wednesday with their victory, and Kamilla Cardoso led the team with 23 points.

WNBA fans' fears for Caitlin Clark spark calls for Fever head coach to be FIRED just six games into season

Caitlin Clark has only been out of WNBA action for a week and the Indiana Fever domino effect of not having her in the lineup has fans' fears leading to call for Stephanie White's job. Clark has a quad injury that the current timeline has her returning at the earliest next Saturday against the New York Liberty. A premature return to the hardwood due to the Fever losing three straight, two with Clark out of the lineup, has led some Indiana fans to point the finger straight at White, looking for her to be fired just six games into the season. White returned to the Fever this offseason after serving as the Connecticut Sun's head coach, and has been affiliated previously with the organization as a player, assistant coach, and as the bench boss several years ago. The rocky 2-4 start with expectations sky high, and issues keeping the team afloat without Clark, has put early season pressure on White most did not expect with a revamped Fever roster. There is plenty of the WNBA season to go, but little time to waste for those wanting to see Clark and the Fever succeed. The Fever have a 2-4 record just six games into White's second tenure as Indiana's bench boss 'Her being absent is not why we are losing. Stephanie White need to step out of the way and let this team run the offense from the second half of last season. The coach is trash right now,' one fan said on social media. 'Fire Stephanie White,' a second stated, not leaving their thoughts to the imagination. 'White is not the answer as coach and (Kelsey) Mitchell steps back for a 3 on the final shot instead of going to the rim and possibly getting a foul,' a third added. 'I said from the beginning that coach doesn't know what she is doing. It's unbelievable that she doesn't bring kk to play,' a fourth concluded. A collection of social-media messages about the Fever struggling and White's coaching status The Fever's schedule does lighten a bit in the next week, with the Washington Mystics coming to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday before another game against Angel Reese and the the Chicago Sky four days later. Should Clark not be able to go for either of those games, her return looks likely for June 10 on the road against the Atlanta Dream, who the WNBA sophomore helped defeat in Georgia earlier this season. As of Saturday night, the Fever are the first team out of a playoff spot, within a game of the three teams directly in front of them - the Seattle Storm, Golden State Valkyries and the Mystics.

Matthijs de Ligt makes his feelings clear on Ruben Amorim slamming Man Utd flops

Ruben Amorim has raised eyebrows by publicly criticising his Manchester United players, calling them the "worst in the club's history" and saying they deserved to be booed Matthijs de Ligt has praised Ruben Amorim for his straight-talking approach during a miserable campaign at Manchester United. United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham to ensure one of their worst ever seasons. Things got even more farcical after the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, as United headed out to the Far East on a two-game tour. They suffered the embarrassment of losing to an ASEAN All-Stars side in Kuala Lumpur, before coming from a goal down to beat Hong Kong. ‌ Amorim has won just 16 of his first 42 competitive games in charge since taking over from Erik ten Hag in November. His first six months at the club has been a massive disappointment and United are now braced to tear apart their squad in pursuit of improvements next season. ‌ But despite their struggles on the pitch, Amorim has won over summer signing De Ligt through his work in press conferences. The Portuguese coach said his side were 'probably the worst in Manchester United history' in January before calling them 'chokers' who deserved to be booed after losing in Malaysia. 'I'm from Holland so I like it,' De Ligt said. 'I can understand the media are in shock because normally this doesn't happen. 'But I think you can also be really happy that finally someone speaks out, says what he thinks and speaks the truth. I really appreciate him in our conversations personally. It gives me a feeling I can trust him and he can trust me.' ‌ Amorim arrived at Old Trafford with a stellar reputation, having won two leagues and two cups with Sporting, but it hasn't gone to plan at United. The 40-year-old inherited Ten Hag's squad and has managed to connect with them, according to De Ligt, who joined for £42million from Bayern Munich last summer. HAVE YOUR SAY! Will Ruben Amorim turn things around at Manchester United next season? Comment below. ‌ 'I've experienced many managers and he's one of the most easy to talk to as a player,' he said. 'He's really into details. Before signing new players, first he's looking at the culture, what needs to change and what can be improved to become a better football club. From next season we will see more of that. 'I think he wants to build a team of players who are together, fighting for each other and making the most out of what they have. Maybe before, you had the best players, but you're not a team.' After getting the post-season tour done, Amorim is already looking ahead to next season. "Of course, to spend time with my family," he said after the game in Hong Kong. "But, like I said in the press conference, I am ready to start the next one. 'We have a lot to do. A lot to prepare. We have to think of the squad and we are changing building. It needs to be that everything is ready for the new season." Pacers try to take advantage of 2nd chance to eliminate Knicks and advance to NBA Finals

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers will try to take advantage of a second chance to eliminate the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals at home on Saturday night. Indiana is looking to make the second NBA Finals appearance in franchise history and the first in 25 years. The Pacers lead the series 3-2 after losing Game 5 to the Knicks 111-94 on Thursday. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern and will be televised on TNT, and a Pacers win would mark the final chapter in the network's long history of broadcasting NBA games. TNT will not carry games next season. A Knicks win would send the series back to New York on Monday night for Game 7. The series winner will open the the finals on Thursday at Oklahoma City. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton is 11-2 all-time in playoff home games. He had a historic stat line in his most recent contest at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, finishing with 32 points, 15 assists, 12 rebounds, four steals and no turnovers Tuesday. The two-time All-Star became the first player to record at least 30 points, 15 assists, 10 rebounds and have no turnovers in a playoff game since turnovers were first tracked in 1977-78. And he did it in front of his father, John, who had an eight-game ban lifted following his on-court confrontation with Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo when his son's last-second layup eliminated the Bucks in their first-round series. New York lost the first two games of this series at home but has rebounded to win two of the last three since inserting Mitchell Robinson into the starting lineup. Coach Tom Thibodeau expanded New York's rotation and All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns started driving to the basket more frequently. Anthony-Towns has averaged 24 points and 13.3 rebounds in the last three games while All-Star guard Jalen Brunson has averaged 28.7 points over that span. Brunson also has topped the 30-point mark in each of the last two to extend the Knicks' postseason record for most 30-point games in franchise history with 21. New York is trying to become the 14th team in league history to rally from a 3-1 deficit to win a series. It hasn't reached the finals since 1999 and hasn't won a title since 1973. The road team won each of the first three games in this series while the home team has prevailed in each of the last two.
