'You are now an engaged woman,' interviewer Rennae Stubbs said. 'So, how has Andrea helped you in this comeback? You're happy, a smile on your face. I mean, how much has he made a difference in your life?'
'My fiancé is here and he really encouraged me to keep playing,' said Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam champion and the older sister of fellow tennis sensation Serena Williams.

'There were so many times where I just wanted to coast and kind of chill. Do you know how hard it is to play tennis? You guys don't know how much work goes into this, like it's 9 to 5 except you're running the whole time.'
'Lifting weights and just like dying and then you repeat it the next day. So he encouraged me to get through this and it's wonderful to be here. He's never seen me play,' she added.
While the duo has consciously kept their romance under wraps for months, Williams and the 'One More Day' actor were first linked together in July 2024 during a romantic boating trip in Nerano, Italy.

In February, the couple sparked engagement rumors for the first time after Williams was seen wearing a diamond sparkler on that finger.
News of their engagement comes four years after Williams said she wasn't 'desperate' to settle down.

'I have a lot of friends who don't believe me when I say that I like my life and I don't want to change it for any reason. I'm not desperate and they don't believe me,' she told Cosmopolitan in 2021.
'They say things like, 'You're going to miss your window,'' Williams said of her friends. 'I'm like, 'Please, relax. You might feel this way, but I don't. I promise you I don't.''
The following year, Williams opened up about her love life in an interview with Glamour UK.
'I've had a single life for a long time and I think it's really easy to get stuck in a single life and sometimes — at least for me — harder to get out,' she said at the time. 'It makes you think about yourself and what you want and how to behave.'
'When life changes, you've got to know when to change. You can't hold on to either a relationship or the singleness.'
Before her romance with the 'A Professor' actor, Williams was previously linked to model Elio Pis and financier Nicky Hammond.

Jalen Williams responds back to social media haters who call him 'corny'
Growing up a Kobe Bryant fan, Jalen Williams recently paid homage to his basketball hero. Playing an entire playoff run with an injured wrist, the 24-year-old helped lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first NBA championship. When you win the Larry O'Brien trophy, you've earned all the bragging rights. Williams has taken advantage of that benefit. He's flexed the championship after being widely questioned on whether he was a good enough second-best player on a title contender. Williams took to social media to share a side-by-side photo of himself and Bryant. Both wore pajamas at the free-throw line to attempt a one-handed shot. The other hand was wrapped in a cast after surgery. As is the case for most social media posts with a social-media-savvy NBA star, there were some criticisms from fan accounts. The buzzword used in Williams' reply was "corny" as he compared himself to Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has quite a vocal fanbase. That's what happens when you win five rings on the NBA's marquee franchise. The 23-year-old received criticism for being a copycat. Of course, none of it matters in real life. What these anonymous accounts say online rarely reflects Williams' reality. He replied to an Instagram comment to show that. An account said they felt bad that the 24-year-old was flamed on social media for showing love to his favorite player of all time. He's never been shy about his fandom of Bryant since he arrived in the NBA. "tbh the same people calling me corny couldn't hold my water in real life, prolly would ask for a selfie if we was face to face," Williams wrote. That's probably a good way to view it if you're Williams. It comes with the territory of being one of the NBA's best players and recently winning an NBA championship. There will always be a section of fans who villainize him, even if they need to resort to off-court qualities like his personality or how he carries himself online. All you can do is shrug your shoulders and move on. The Thunder have dealt with what every NBA superteam has dealt with since the league was created. The only difference between now and the beginning is that social media platforms allow critics' voices to be louder.

Venus Williams reveals engagement to actor after historic comeback win
The post Venus Williams reveals engagement to actor after historic comeback win appeared first on ClutchPoints. Venus Williams gave tennis fans more than just a thrilling performance Tuesday night. Moments after her history-making win at the DC Open, the 45-year-old legend confirmed her engagement to Italian actor Andrea Preti, Complex reports. A perfect match for Williams. In a post-match interview with Rennae Stubbs, Williams couldn't hide her joy as she revealed that her 37-year-old fiancé had been a driving force behind her return. 'Yes, my fiancé is here and he really encouraged me to keep playing,' she said, smiling. 'There were so many times where I just wanted to coast and kind of chill. Do you know how hard it is to play tennis? It's nine-to-five except you're running the whole time, lifting weights, and just, like, dying. And then you repeat it the next day. So, he encouraged me to get through this and it's wonderful to be here. He's never seen me play.' The engagement comes after months of quiet speculation. Williams and Preti were first linked in July 2024 when they were spotted vacationing together in Nerano, Italy. The rumors gained traction earlier this year when she was seen sporting a diamond ring, but both remained tight-lipped—until now. Preti, who has starred in films like 'Temptation' (2023) and 'My Beloved Enemy' (2018), later shared his excitement on Instagram, calling Williams the GOAT and praising her resilience. A night of history and celebration Williams' big announcement came right after an impressive straight-sets victory over Peyton Stearns, 6-3, 6-4. The win makes her the second-oldest woman to claim a tour-level singles match, a record held by Martina Navratilova, who won at 47 in 2004. For Venus Williams, who hadn't played since March 2024, the victory represents more than just another notch in her decorated career—it's proof she still belongs among the sport's fiercest competitors. The seven-time Grand Slam champion, who has five Wimbledon titles and two U.S. Open crowns, will now face Magdalena Frech in her next match. Whether this tournament leads to another deep run or not, Tuesday night will be remembered as a defining moment in her storied career, blending personal triumph with athletic history. Venus Williams' doubles run at DC Open cut short after 2nd-round loss
The post Venus Williams' doubles run at DC Open cut short after 2nd-round loss appeared first on ClutchPoints. Venus Williams' improbable run at the DC Open has come to an end in part. On Thursday, she was eliminated in the second round of the doubles tournament, per ESPN. Williams and her doubles partner Hailey Baptiste lost to No. 2-seeded Taylor Townsend and Zhang Shuai 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 in a tiebreaker. Nevertheless, Williams is still competing in the singles tournament and is set to take on Magdalena Fręch in the Round of 16 on Thursday. On Tuesday, Williams at 45 became the second oldest player to win a WTA singles match. She defeated Peyton Stearns in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. All this happened as Williams was making some changes to her life. She announced her engagement to actor Andrea Preti. At the same time, Williams said it would mean more to play if Serena were to come out of retirement. While Serena has gotten much of the glow over the years, Venus has never been too far behind. Venus Williams adds to her legendary status Since emerging onto the scene at 14, Venus has amassed a stellar pedigree. She has won 7 Grand Slam singles titles and 14 Grand Slam doubles titles (all with Serena). In addition, Williams has captured four Olympic gold medals (one in singles, three in doubles). She, along with Serena, helped change the face of tennis with their story, fashion sense, and activism. Venus was the one who led the charge for equal pay at Grand Slam tournaments. A pursuit which culminated in 2007 when Wimbledon offered equal prize money. A tournament in which she won. She still has a chance to go far if not win the DC Open singles title. A feat that would place her in the same category of Jack Nicklaus and George Foreman. Athletes who achieved big things at an advanced age. Nicklaus famously won the Masters in 1986 at age 46. Foreman recaptured the heavyweight championship at age 45 in 1994.
