Loro Piana Placed Under Judicial Oversight Due to Alleged Worker Exploitation
Loro Piana in a statement on Monday evening said it 'acknowledges the notification received from the Court of Milan's Preventive Measure Section today regarding labor practices by undisclosed and unauthorized subcontractors of one of its suppliers.'The Italian luxury company stated that 'in breach of its legal and contractual obligations, the supplier did not inform Loro Piana of the existence of these subcontractors. Loro Piana was made aware of this situation on May 20, and, as a result, the maison terminated all relations with the concerned supplier in less than 24 hours.' Furthermore, 'Loro Piana firmly condemns any illegal practices and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding human rights and compliance with all applicable regulations throughout its supply chain. Loro Piana is committed to ensuring that all its suppliers comply with the maison's highest quality and ethical standards in line with its Code of Conduct. In this perspective, Loro Piana has been constantly reviewing and will continue to strengthen its control and audit activities.'According to media reports, Loro Piana sells cashmere jackets with a price tag of 3,000 euros, which, through its subcontractors, would allegedly actually cost only 100 euros. The firm denied this claim. 'The reported cost figures are not representative of the amounts paid by Loro Piana to its supplier, nor do they consider the full value of all the elements, including, among others, raw materials and fabrics.'Looking ahead, Loro Piana concluded by stating that it 'expresses its full willingness to cooperate with the relevant authorities on this matter and intends to provide the utmost support for any further investigations.'

Louis Vuitton Notifies U.K. Customers of Data Breach
Loro Piana is controlled by the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and is helmed by chief executive officer Frédéric Arnault, who succeeded Damian Bertrand last month. Bertrand is now chairman of the brand and has moved to become deputy CEO of Louis Vuitton. This is only the latest luxury brand to incur in such a probe. Dior, also part of LVMH, and the Giorgio Armani Group have also been investigated for allegedly using suppliers who subjected workers to poor conditions, including inadequate wages, and potentially misleading consumers about their commitment to ethical standards, labor practices and artisanal production. Both brands have seen the judicial administration procedures lifted after taking steps to improve their supply chain and labor practices.
In February, a Milan court ordered the revocation of the judicial administration imposed since April last year on Giorgio Armani Operations, a unit of the namesake designer's fashion group, over the labor practices of its Chinese-owned subcontractors.
At the time, the Armani Group said in a statement that the decision to revoke the judicial administration was made because the company has taken all the necessary corrective action and 'already had a structured and tested system of controls and protection of its supply chain.' The revocation came ahead of the one-year deadline initially expected, it pointed out.
The statement underscored that the decision was also made because the court recognized the group's craftsmanship as Armani's suppliers 'are often to be identified as highly qualified artisans, especially regarding Italian production, characterized by the highest level of sophistication and quality.'
Last year, judges also placed an Italian subsidiary of Dior, which produced handbags for the French brand, under the same form of special administration, again for lack of control over its supply chain. In May, the French fashion house was cleared of any wrongdoing and said it remains 'committed to upholding our values of transparency and respect throughout our supply chain. This further underscores the maison's steadfast and historic dedication to pursuing both rigorous Made in Italy products and the highest standards of ethics and excellence.'
Alviero Martini was also investigated over alleged worker exploitation, and in May, a unit of Valentino specialized in bags was placed under judicial administration for a year by the Milan court after worker abuse was uncovered at subcontractors.
Following the move, Valentino said it had intensified its supplier evaluation process across its supply chain in recent years and would cooperate with the relevant authorities to 'fully understand the circumstances that have led to the measures taken by the judiciary in this specific case.'

Italian Journalist Delivers Huge Update On Ongoing Transfer Saga Involving Inter Milan & Atalanta Star: 'He Wants Inter'
Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni has offered a fresh update on the ongoing transfer saga between Inter Milan and Ademola Lookman. According to the Corriere dello Sport editor-in-chief via FCInter1908, the Nigerian is desperate to join the Nerazzurri. Talks between Inter Milan and Atalanta for Ademola Lookman are ongoing. However, the clubs have yet to find common ground. After seeing their opening bid rejected by La Dea earlier this month, Inter tabled a new offer earlier today. Indeed, Beppe Marotta met with Luca Percassi to discuss the 27-year-old's future. The two met face-to-face at the League Council, shortly before the Nerazzurri lodged an improved bid for Lookman. Atalanta's stance, however, remains unchanged. La Dea have slapped a €50 million price tag on their prized asset and are sticking to their valuation. On the other hand, Inter have increased their offer from €40 million to €45 million, including bonuses. Yet, it may not be enough to get Atalanta's green light. Ivan Zazzaroni Offers Update on Inter Milan Pursuit of Ademola Lookman BERGAMO, ITALY – JANUARY 21: Ademola Lookman of Atalanta celebrates scoring his team's fourth goal during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD7 match between Atalanta BC and SK Sturm Graz at Stadio di Bergamo on January 21, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) Despite Lookman's desire to continue his career at San Siro, Atalanta could spoil Inter's plans. Furthermore, they've become notorious for dragging clubs into protracted talks. Only last summer, Percassi made Juventus wait until late August to sign Teun Koopmeiners. However, the Serie A runners-up are keen to avoid the same scenario. Therefore, they've included an expiration date in their latest proposal. Meanwhile, Zazzaroni confirms Lookman's intention to force the transfer. 'Lookman, the series,' he started. 'Atalanta, having sold Retegui, must stand firm because they have a responsibility to their people. 'And the price is €50 million. Lookman wants to join Inter, in keeping with a promise made to him a year ago. 'That's the key to everything. It's a repeat of the Koopmeiners case. 'Same ending? Three episodes in one day – forget Temptation Island.'

Fabrizio Romano confirms talks in HISTORIC Alexander Isak deal
The British record deal expected to take Alexander Isak from Newcastle to Liverpool is hotting up. Ever since Isak, 25, informed the Magpies that he had no interest in signing a new contract - and instead wished to explore a move away - it has been speculated that a move to Anfield would be imminent. Shop the LFC Store LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Liverpool are prepared to break ANOTHER transfer record to land Isak - top of their list of striker targets. It would likely take a bid of £130m plus in order to land the Swede, who has failed to travel with his club for their Asian preseason tour. It's been claimed that Isak has already signed off on personal terms and Liverpool are in the process of clearing space in the squad - and the budget - through the sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern and potentially getting rid of Darwin Nunez too. Liverpool's deal for Isak is 60 percent done And now Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that HUGE progress has been made on Isak's record-breaking deal to join Liverpool. The Italian transfer supremo claims that the deal is 60 percent complete - with club-to-club contact now underway. 'For Alexander Isak, in terms of percentage for Liverpool, it's at 60 percent,' he told DAZN Transfer. 'It's quite optimistic, but there is still work to do, 40 percent to go before we can say Isak is going to be a Liverpool player. 'But Liverpool have all the intentions to go strong for this deal. Liverpool already made contact with Newcastle two weeks ago. 'Liverpool are prepared to make a Premier League record-breaking bid for the 25-year-old, but are waiting for Newcastle to give the green light.' Isak REJECTS Saudi deal The Anfield club are clearly frontrunners for Isak - with the player having NO interest in moving to Al-Hilal despite the £600k per week on offer. It's Liverpool or nothing for the Toon's No14 - who looks set to move on to the next stage of his career as Liverpool's centre-forward.
