New York man charged with cyberstalking a family member of slain UnitedHealthcare CEO
Shane Daley, 40, is accused of placing multiple calls to Thompson's family member after the shooting, justifying the killing and saying that the person deserved to die in a similar manner, according to a criminal complaint.
Daley, of Galway, New York, a small town north of Albany, was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon. Information on whether Daley had an attorney was not immediately available in online federal court records.
In a statement, Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone said that 'Brian Thompson was gunned down in midtown Manhattan. Daley, as alleged, gleefully welcomed this tragedy and did all that he could to increase the Thompson family's pain and suffering.'
Thompson was fatally shot outside a hotel in New York City in December by a man who prosecutors said was angered over what he viewed as corporate greed. The suspect, Luigi Mangione, has pleaded not guilty.

4 men arrested for Anaheim bar security guard shooting death
Four men from Los Angeles have been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a security guard outside the Anaheim bar where he was working at earlier in the summer, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Investigators announced the arrest of the four men for the June 22 death of Salvador Ramirez, 48. The Fountain Valley resident was working as a security guard at 99 Bottles & Cocktails when the shooting occurred. On Aug. 13, investigators arrested David Anthony Ortega, 44, Rene Jose Juarez Jr., 37, Max Maestas, 54 and Robert Allen Duncan, 43, for the murder of Ramierez. The shooting happened a little before 1 a.m. on June 22 outside the Katella Avenue bar. Ramirez was transported to a hospital where he died.

When President Trump announced Monday that the federal government would take control of Washington's police department, he described the move as necessary to 'rescue our nation's capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor.' But in the more than six months since taking office, Mr. Trump's actions, and in some cases inaction, have hobbled Washington's efforts to reduce crime, drawing complaints from city leaders who say he is now trying to solve a problem that he has actually made worse. City officials point to vacancies at the U.S. attorney's office in Washington and on the Superior Court — staffing controlled by the federal government — as well as budget cuts of more than $1 billion as examples of how Mr. Trump has made it more difficult for law enforcement officials to combat crime. And while city leaders readily admit they have work to do to improve public safety, they argue that Mr. Trump's picture of Washington as a dystopian hellscape is far from the reality. 'From having our courts be less able to hear and try and render justice to our ability to prosecute cases, the administration has absolutely harmed the District's ability,' said Charles Allen, a Democratic member of the District of Columbia Council. 'Now despite that of course, the city has done incredible work, I think, over the last two years as we have been able to lower violent crime significantly.' He added, 'We don't see sincerity or consistency in anything coming out of this administration.' Despite Mr. Trump's claims that Washington 'has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals,' most categories of violent crime peaked in 2023 and have been falling since. Violent attempted rape in Hell's Kitchen: NYPD releases suspect photo
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — The NYPD is asking for assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a brutal attempted rape in Hell's Kitchen early Sunday morning. The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. near 47th Street and 8th Avenue. More Local News Police say the suspect approached a 21-year-old woman from behind and wrapped his arm around her neck, squeezing so violently that she passed out. The suspect fled on foot towards Ninth Avenue when the victim regained consciousness, police say. EMS transported the victim to the hospital. The suspect was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants with white sneakers. The NYPD released the following photo of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
