Mansions OAM and The Brain & Performance Centre unite for mental health awareness month
Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, yet many individuals still find it difficult to speak about their emotional challenges. Through this partnership, Mansions OAM and The Brain & Performance Centre aim to create a safe and supportive space for dialogue, awareness, and practical tools that help residents care for their mental wellness.
Throughout the month of May, the programme will focus on four weekly themes, each designed to support different dimensions of emotional, cognitive, and psychological well-being:
● Week 1: Let's Talk About It – Awareness and Conversation Starters
● Week 2: Take a Breath – Stress Relief and Mindfulness
● Week 3: Support Systems – Getting Help and Building Connections
● Week 4: Everyday Acts of Wellness – Daily Routines and Self-Care
Community events, expert-led content, and digital engagement will provide residents with accessible ways to participate, reflect, and connect.
'This initiative is about more than raising awareness — it's about sparking everyday conversations that can lead to lasting change,' said Alexander Karabet, Managing Director of Mansions Owners Association Management.

UAE's charitable institutions: Building hope through compassion, giving
Charitable institutions and societies in the UAE continue to play a pivotal role in advancing humanitarian efforts both locally and globally, embodying the essence of Emirati society and its deeply rooted culture of generosity. Throughout 2025, these organisations have sustained their humanitarian, developmental, and community-focused initiatives, improving the lives of countless individuals and communities. Their efforts are inspired by the vision of the UAE's wise leadership and the legacy of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The Dubai Charity Association affirmed that humanitarian work represents a core value and a defining feature of Emirati society, establishing the UAE as a leading global hub for humanitarian action. In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ahmed Ibrahim Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Dubai Charity Association, said that the Association seeks to maximise its impact and bring happiness to as many beneficiaries as possible inside and outside the UAE. He highlighted that during the first half of 2025, the Association focused on addressing the essential needs of millions of beneficiaries in 20 countries worldwide, in addition to nationwide efforts across diverse sectors. Al Suwaidi noted that the Association has built 18 residential complexes and villages, providing safe shelter for thousands of families, alongside the construction of 470 houses for impoverished households to ensure dignified and stable living conditions. In the field of education, the Association has enhanced infrastructure globally by building 25 new schools, opening doors of knowledge for thousands of students. It also established two vocational training centres to empower youth with essential skills for a better future. Moreover, 361 educational support projects were carried out, providing books, school supplies, and teaching materials for students in need. The Association further contributed to water security by drilling 3,922 wells across underserved communities and implementing 1,416 water-supply projects in areas facing scarcity, ensuring access to clean and safe water for thousands. During the holy month of Ramadan, the Association carried out a campaign to support underprivileged families. The initiative included the daily distribution of more than 25,000 Iftar meals across various areas of Ras Al Khaimah, in addition to providing food baskets, shopping vouchers, and Eid clothing for children and families in need. The Association also made significant contributions as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, which included the provision of 6,000 food baskets, 6,000 parcels of baby supplies, four water tankers, and a shipment of medicines weighing 12 tonnes. In the same context, Sharjah Charity International (SCI) continued its humanitarian efforts this year, reflected through a series of development projects and programmes implemented both within the UAE and abroad. For its part, the Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Work announced a series of achievements and qualitative programmes it accomplished during the first half of 2025, creating a direct and sustainable impact on the lives of thousands of people within Ras Al Khaimah and beyond. In the same context, the Emirates Charitable Association continued its humanitarian efforts during the current year, reflected through a range of developmental projects and programmes implemented both within the UAE and abroad. The Association implemented 1,451 charitable projects during the first half of 2025. In Umm Al Qaiwain, Rashid Hamad Al Hamar, Director-General of the Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla Charitable and Humanitarian Establishment, confirmed that the charitable and developmental assistance provided by the Foundation during the first quarter of this year exceeded AED18.2 million.

Back to school in UAE: How teachers prepare one week in advance for new academic year
After nearly two months of summer break, teachers returned to UAE schools and participated in professional development sessions covering child protection, the integration of AI in classrooms, community-building, and a new planning model. This signifies the official resumption of duties following the summer break and the commencement of the 2025–2026 academic year, with students in all grades set to begin classes on Monday, August 25. Lisa Johnson, Principal, American Academy for Girls (AAG) said, 'It's a full and exciting week ahead. Our staff are engaging in professional training focused on child protection, the use of AI in the classroom, and a new planning model we're implementing this year.' Welcome back breakfast Johnson explained at AAG, the day began with a traditional Emirati breakfast, providing a relaxed environment for staff to reconnect after the summer break. The school also unveiled this year's guiding theme: 'Be the Weaver,' symbolising how every lesson, act of care, and decision contributes to students' overall growth. She added, 'We reflected on this together this morning to set the tone for the year ahead.' Across the city, Brighton College Dubai welcomed back over 200 teaching, technical, and administrative staff, alongside more than 25 new colleagues. Simon Crane, Head Master, said, 'Today marks the start of our back-to-school programme, with our teachers engaged in professional training, collaboration, and planning to ensure that we deliver the very best education. This week will be spent refining lessons, aligning on curriculum priorities, and preparing enriching experiences in and beyond the classroom.' Staff strength and new hires Similarly, Diyafah International School in Abu Dhabi also focused on preparing its staff for the start of the school year. David Flint, Principal, said, 'These trainings are being led both by our school leadership team and external experts, focusing on innovative teaching practices, student well-being, and the integration of new technologies into the classroom. Only a small percentage of new colleagues join us this year. It is always special to see familiar faces return, and equally exciting to welcome passionate new educators who enrich our community.' At Uptown International School, professional development aimed to foster consistency across classrooms while strengthening team collaboration. Paul Rowe, Head of Secondary, noted, 'For our new and returning staff, it's about ensuring everyone feels connected and confident, ready to deliver excellence for all our students. This professional development not only equips teachers with strategies for success, but also reinforces our identity as a community that learns, grows, and achieves together.' Indian curriculum schools In Indian curriculum schools, teachers return a few days ahead of students to ensure a smooth start. Deepika Thapar Singh, Principal of Credence High School, said, 'All our staff are returning from their summer break and will rejoin a few days before school reopens, ensuring they are ready to warmly welcome students after their much-needed holiday. The school currently has about 450 personnel, including faculty, administrative, and outsourced staff. Since our academic year, based on the Indian curriculum, began in April 2025, the recruitment process for new hires was completed well in advance.'
