Hulu says technical glitch during Oscars livestream has been fixed
Hulu says its services have been restored after a technical glitch that left viewers unable to access the streaming service during the 2025 Oscar Awards.
"Thanks so much for hanging in there! Our team took the necessary steps to resolve this, so you should be all set after rebooting your device," Hulu said in a post on X at 9:21 p.m. ET. "We appreciate your patience!"
More than 34,000 Hulu subscribers had reported problems accessing the streaming service Sunday, according to Down Detector, which tracks network outages, shortly after the 97th Academy Awards commenced in Los Angeles.
The annual award ceremony, also referred to as entertainment's biggest night, kicked off at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT with the show airing live on ABC and livestreaming on Disney's Hulu. However, Hulu started experiencing trouble shortly before 7 p.m. ET, per Down Detector. The official red carpet show, hosted by Julianne Hough and Jesse Palmer, aired prior to the main ceremony at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT.

Hulu says 'we're on it' amid Oscars outage
Hulu had earlier said it is aware of the issue and said it was "actively investigating" the glitch and hopes to restore service soon.
"Having issues logging in?" Hulu said in a post on X at 7:39 p.m. ET and their website. "If so – we're on it! Our team is actively investigating, and we hope to have things back up and running soon."
Responding to several users, Hulu had apologized for the inconvenience and had said it is "currently investigating this with a high priority."
