Star Wars Celebration: Diego Luna, Tony Gilroy and Adria Arjona Premiere ‘Andor' Season Two for Fans
Ahead of the episode presentation, dozens upon dozens of fans dressed as prisoners from Narkina 5 performed a fun, and certainly less stressful, procession around the conference arena in a nod to the Andor episode 'One Way Out.'

Andor stars Diego Luna, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Genevieve O'Reilly, Alan Tudyk and Denise Gough as well as creator Tony Gilroy and executive producer Sanne Wohlenberg then sat down for a brief Q&A before the screening.
'It's so big in every possible way,' said Luna who plays the titular Cassian Andor. 'There's more adventure, action and drama. We're getting close to Rogue One, so everything matters so much. It's emotionally charged. It's going to be intense. And when you finish watching this second and last season, go straight to Rogue One, because you're going to see a different film.'
Gilroy explained that the time span covered within the show by the first season amounted to about one year, but for the coming second season will stretch over a four-year period. 'So every three episodes will represent one year, and we're going to drop them three a week. So, it's basically, like dropping a whole movie every week,' explained of the release plans for the show. Gilroy added, 'We find the most important three days to land on.'
'We feel like we've been sitting on a diamond, and we can't wait to share it with you,' said series favorite Genevieve O'Reilly, who plays Mon Mothma.
'We find out where Dedra comes from in this season —a little bit about what makes her who she is —and things get real strange,' said Gough, who plays Imperial official Dedra Meero. 'I don't want to give too much away about it, but, yeah, Dedra really shows herself. It was much darker this season. It wasn't so girl boss, it was much more fascist, which is very unlike me, so it was serious acting I was doing.'
'Bix really went through it in season one,' added Adria Arjona who plays Bix Caleen. 'When we first meet her in season two, you know, she's away from home and really trying to reconstruct herself and how she's going to cope with everything that happened with Dr Gorst. And then you get to kind of get a sneak peek into this beautiful relationship that starts forming in season one.'
'Everyone was like, what are you guys? Are you guys together?' Arjona said of her character's relationship with Cassian Andor. 'Well, I think this season, you'll really get to see these two characters come together, which is really beautiful. It's probably one of my favorite parts.'
'London was the first [Star Wars] convention we went to, and I learned you don't go with your hands empty,' said Luna, introducing the first episode. 'We wanted to bring something very special, something that we've never done — and obviously, we will never do again. So we need you to put your phones down, because this is going to be for your eyes only.'
Andor centers on Cassian Andor, a former thief whose outrage against the fascist Empire turns him into a formidable if reluctant rebel. The character first appeared in the feature Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but then headlined his own series that debuted on Disney+ in 2022.
The first season was set five years before the events of the movie and earned unparalleled praise from critics (it received eight Emmy nominations, including best drama series) and fans. The upcoming second season of the show comprises 12 episodes divided into four story blocks, each one bringing the story one year successively closer to Rogue One.
Season two of Andor debuts on Disney+ on April 22.
Star Wars Celebration, the mostly biennial convention that assembles the faithful followers of the George Lucas-created sci-fi fantasy, is currently underway in Tokyo, Japan. At the event, Disney has revealed the title and release date of Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling's standalone Star Wars film, announced a Darth Maul animated series and shown off the first trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Alan Tudyk Wasn't Part of ‘I, Robot' Publicity for a Very Surprising Reason
Alan Tudyk has made a fine career of playing otherworldly roles. Sometimes he's a robot, like in Rogue One or Superman. Other times he's an alien, like on Resident Alien, or he lends his voice to all manner of weird, wacky creatures from Moana and Encanto to Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph. Long before any of that, though, Tudyk played Sonny, the lead robot in the 2004 Will Smith hit I, Robot—but there's a good chance you didn't know that. That's because it wasn't well publicized. Speaking on the 'Toon'd In with Jim Cummings' podcast, Tudyk explained that after a test screening for the film, the audiences gave his character, Sonny, a higher score than Will Smith's character, Del. Once that happened, he mysteriously found himself no longer part of the film's massive press tour. 'A lot of people did not know I did Sonny the Robot in I, Robot, and there is a reason,' Tudyk said. 'They were doing test audiences for the movie, and they score the characters in this kind of test screening. I got word back: 'Alan, you are testing higher than Will Smith.' And then I was gone. I was done. There was no publicity, and my name was not mentioned.' 'I was so shocked,' Tudyk continued. 'I was like, 'Wait, nobody is going to know I'm in it!' I put a lot into [my performance]. I had to move like a robot. At the time, I was very upset.' And who can blame him? He's basically the second lead in that movie and working in a medium, performance capture, that was still in its early stages. This is just a few years after Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace and Gollum in The Lord of the Rings. Tudyk would later become more synonymous with the technology thanks to a few of his later roles, but this is a big one for which he didn't get the credit he deserved. Smith hasn't come out to discuss Tudyk's revelations and likely won't. But there is plenty of precedent of huge stars not liking to share the spotlight, so you get the sense that happened here. Tony Hale On Voicing Ultron In ‘Marvel's Iron Man And His Awesome Friends'
You can now hear actor Tony Hale voice the iconic Marvel villain 'Ultron' in Marvel's Iron Man And His Awesome Friends, which debuted on Disney Jr. Monday and has season one's 10 episodes available on Disney+ Tuesday. Rated TV-Y, the series is similar in tone and structure to Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which proved to be a smashing success with young Marvel fans everywhere. The Veep star informed me there was a type of fun, old-fashioned villain we don't see much of today that he was striving for with his run at the character. 'When I was doing him, I like to hearken him back to kind of classic villains… A little bit of like the foils and like twisting of the mustache, because those are the villains I like,' the Arrested Development actor told me. 'I like the, you know, the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the 'Child Catcher', or like the 'Wicked Witch of the West' in Wizard of Oz. They're fun villains. They're not like dark, dark villains. So he's just fun and he's always, you know, digging a hole for himself and he's always causing his own downfall and all that stuff." Sketch, a film Tony stars in and produced, finally hit theaters last week. It took eight years for the movie, written and directed by Seth Worley, to get made. In the film, a young girls sketches come to life after she drops her sketchbook in a pond. 'It has been a journey," Hale said. "But I, first of all, I came in knowing that Seth is such a master of special effects. And then this story of just, processing feelings and giving your kids the room to process feelings, I loved that through line, but it's surreal, man. It has been a lot of ups and downs. We had a hard time finding financing. "We finally got the financing, shooting all that stuff. So it's both surreal and very exciting this week, and I'm so proud of it. I can't wait for people (to see it), it's such a journey. It's eye candy and such an emotional journey.' Hale hoped his new film would be a uniquely enjoyable experience for children and their parents. 'I loved Goonies growing up, it's something the whole family could watch and so that's kind of what I wanted, people to have that experience. Truthfully, there was a lot of movies my daughter watched when she was younger that she wanted me to watch with her and I was like, 'If I have to watch this one more time…" I wanted parents to enjoy the humor as much as the kids enjoy the spectacle of it all.' In having such a breakout performance as 'Buster' Bluth in Arrested Development earlier in his career, one could wonder if Hale was concerned about being typecast before he succeeded in having a plethora of roles in hit television shows and films after the already classic comedy series. 'I think I worried after Arrested was done," Tony said. "I was so stoked to get on Arrested and be a part of that show. After I was like, 'Huh.' I went on a lot of auditions because it wasn't like someone's going to be casting a lawyer and be like, you know who'd be really good for that? That guy who played Buster Bluth. "So I needed to show people that I could do out other stuff, and it took time. Buster was definitely like, he was out there, man. He was like his own cartoon character.' The key to Hale's brilliant performance of Buster wasn't in going for cheap laughs, but in playing him real. 'I definitely didn't think he thought he was whack. Yeah. I definitely thought Buster was like, 'Listen, I'm the smartest guy in the room,'" Hale stated. "But I will say, I've struggled with anxiety in my life. A long time ago, I used to have a panic attack, and so I knew where that came from. 'But they gave me such crazy circumstances, when they're like, oh, by the way, a seal's going to bite off your hand, and by the way, you're going to date Liza Minnelli. And all this kind of stuff. "I was like, all you had to do was play that real, because the circumstances spoke for themselves. And she was amazing and lovely and I just kind of went with that.' It was simple for Tony to find great chemistry with living comedy legend Julia Louis-Dreyfus on Veep. 'Well, not only is she so talented, she's so cool. And so we really hit it off and we're, like great friends. But it's her timing, man. And both Jessica Walter, who played my mom on Arrested and then Julia Louis-Dreyfus, their timing is so solid. And so working with someone who's timing is solid, you always felt like if I'm going to throw the ball, they're going to throw it back. "There's just that sense of you trust each other's comedy. So then when Julia and I were on Veep together, it was just like its own comic dance. "We just kind of had fun with it. The script was always kind of solid, and then we would get on set and be like, 'What physicality can we do to make this funnier?' And that's the time that I really loved.'
