Bhilwara farmers accuse UIT of tampering with master plan
They demanded the reinstatement of the previously proposed multipurpose plan and warned of a mass sit-in protest if no action is taken within seven days.
The protest follows allegations by Bhilwara Property Dealers and Brokers Association, whose legal in-charge Rajkumar Taylor accused UIT officials of ignoring govt orders and manipulating the city's long-term development blueprint. He warned that legal action would be pursued if the issues are not addressed promptly.
Farmer leader Devendra Singh strongly criticised the proposed E-2 plan, claiming it is flawed and includes a 1200-feet wide road, which he said was inferior to the earlier multipurpose plan that was scrapped. He accused the UIT of turning the peripheral area into a "fraudulent zone" and warned that 7,000 farmers will sit on strike outside the UIT office if the plan is not rectified.
The protest march, which began at the Ajmer Jail intersection, saw participation from hundreds of male and female farmers raising slogans against the UIT.
The memorandum submitted to the additional district collector conveyed their demands and concerns.
Meanwhile, the UIT is conducting a lottery for 3,081 residential plots in nine housing schemes announced in the state budget. Protesters pointed out that Bhilwara charges Rs 2,000 as an application fee, compared to Rs 1,000 in Ajmer for a similar scheme.
Bhilwara district collector and UIT chairman Jasmeet Singh Sandhu said, no changes have been made to the multipurpose plan under Section 32. He urged residents not to be misled and said, a committee has been formed to consider public suggestions.

Lucknow: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh arrested a doctor identified as Usama Maj Sheikh (24) from Badlapur in Maharashtra. Sheikh, who claims to be a homeopathy practitioner, was taken into custody from his residence in Badlapur East on Monday morning with the assistance of the local police. Earlier on August 2, ATS had arrested Ajmal Ali (19) from UP's Amroha. The ATS said that both accused were in contact with several Pakistani individuals through social media and were part of a larger online network aimed at indoctrinating Indian Muslim youth. Their objective, according to the preliminary findings of ATS, was to incite communal hatred, provoke religious animosity, and prepare ground for a violent movement to establish Ghazwa-e-Hind—an Islamist concept of religious conquest—by spreading Sharia law through jihad. The duo allegedly influenced and provoked young Muslim men to harbour resentment against non-Muslims, encouraging them to join anti-national and criminal activities aimed at destabilising the country, the ATS added. Ajmal was first summoned to the ATS headquarters in Lucknow for questioning where he revealed to have been in touch with his mentor Sheikh and several others in Pakistan. Based on the findings, UP ATS registered an FIR at ATS police station in Lucknow. Ajmal was arrested and produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody. Following further leads, the ATS also tracked down Usama Maj Sheikh and placed him under arrest on August 4 from his residence in Badlapur, Maharashtra. Under tight security, Sheikh was produced before the Ulhasnagar court, which granted a transit remand. He was brought into custody and is being interrogated further regarding his role in the ideological indoctrination and recruitment of radical youth for extremist objectives, the ATS said. The ATS sources said they are trying to identify other members of the network, including possible foreign handlers and local collaborators. Digital evidence retrieved from seized mobile phones and social media accounts is being forensically analysed. More arrests are likely in the coming days.

Reports suggest they may be linked to the LeT terror outfit responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. Four soldiers have been injured during the intense firefights, with no fatalities reported among the forces. The injured soldiers who are said to be in stable condition are admitted to the army hospital. The operation remains active, with intermittent and intense gunfire continuing through the night. Security forces have tightened the cordon to prevent any terrorists from escaping. The dense forest terrain and natural caves have made body retrieval and locating active terrorists challenging. Security forces believe 2-3 terrorists are hiding in the forest area. The operation began on August 1, 2025, following specific intelligence about the terrorist presence in the dense Akhal forest. It involves a joint team of the Indian Army elite force PARA Commandos Jammu and Kashmir Police, and SOG Commandos, the Army's RR, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Operation Akhal follows other major operations like Operation Mahadev, where three LeT terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack were killed, and Operation Shiv Shakti, where two infiltrators were killed. The Akhal operation is part of a broader intensification of counter-terror efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, with around 20 high-profile terrorists eliminated since the Pahalgam attack. Operation Akhal is described as potentially the largest anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir this year due to its scale, duration, and the use of advanced military resources.
