Second edition of VIS U-15 football tournament powered by The Hindu set for kick-off

Vellore International School (VIS), in association with The Hindu, will host the second edition of the VIS Inter School Football Tournament (Under 15). The tournament will begin on the VIS campus, Kayar, near Kelambakkam (off Rajiv Gandhi Salai [OMR]). The event promises to be a celebration of youth, teamwork, and sporting spirit. After the resounding success of its inaugural edition last year in Chennai, the tournament returns targeting a wider reach, opening its doors to schools from Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Chengalpattu, and Puducherry. This year, the stakes are higher, and the competition will be fiercer with 64 school teams battling it out in the 64 knockout matches for the coveted position of Champion School. The tournament will offer electrifying football action, some unforgettable moments and attractive cash prizes - ₹1,00,000 for the winners, ₹75,000 for the runners-up, and ₹50,000 for the second runners-up. With spirited competition, emerging talent, and the thrill of the game, this year's edition promises to be a true celebration of youth and sportsmanship, while inspiring students to step forward as the stars of tomorrow. 'Today's students need to engage more in physical activity- to run, sweat, and stay healthy. With many being drawn into online games, it is important to bring them back to the playground. Football is the perfect sport to encourage this, as it builds fitness, teamwork, and enthusiasm,' said G. V. Selvam, Chairman – VIS, and Vice-President – VIT.
