Barcelona lift LaLiga trophy despite losing 3-2 to Villarreal as Lamine Yamal produces another special strike
Villarreal fought back to to hand Barcelona their first league defeat since late December on Sunday but that didn't dampen the post-match celebrations as the Catalan club lifted the LaLiga trophy.
Hansi Flick's side already secured the title after Thursday's 2-0 win at city rivals Espanyol gave them an unassailable lead over the competition with two games left to play.
And Sunday's match at Barcelona's Olympic Stadium was the chance to celebrate their triumph in front of their home fans.
There were jubilant scenes as captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen made his way out on to the pitch, picking up the huge trophy and carrying it over to his team-mates and lifting it aloft.
The stars were then joined on the pitch by their family and friends and they paraded their silverware in front of their adoring supporters.
'I think Villarreal played a good game... but what matters is that we are champions,' Barca's Fermin Lopez, who scored their second goal to make it 2-1 at the end of the first half, told DAZN before he joined his teammates in the trophy-lifting celebrations.

'I'm happy to have scored a goal, although it didn't help us to grab another win that we really wanted. However, the important thing is that we've won the league and that's it, we deserve it and let's keep the celebration going.'
Former Newcastle and Leicester forward Ayoze Perez opened the scoring for the visitors, finding the net from a counter-attack in the fourth minute.
Yet Barca's Lamine Yamal levelled in the 38th minute with another fine individual effort, cutting in front the right and curling strike and
Lopez gave them the lead with a shot from the edge of the box in first-half stoppage time.
However, Santi Comesana equalised five minutes after the break and Canadian Tajon Buchanan fired the winner from a Gerard Moreno cross in the 80th minute, a result that secured Villarreal a spot in the Champions League next season.
Ahead of the final weekend of the campaign, Champions Barca are top on 85 points, four ahead second-placed Real Madrid, with Atletico in third on 73 points.
Athletic Bilbao, on 70 points, and Villarreal, on 67, complete LaLiga's top five, who will represent Spain in next season's Champions League.

It's fun, and not fun – Jannik Sinner looks forward to final with Carlos Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner says his blockbuster French Open final against Carlos Alcaraz will be 'fun, and not fun'. Italian world number one Sinner takes on second seed and defending champion Alcaraz in the first major final between the new generation of men's tennis superstars. It is a match-up tinged with extra significance after Sinner beat Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, with the 38-year-old Serb – the last of the old guard still just about standing – admitting it may have been his last Roland Garros. Instead it will be Sinner and Alcaraz who take centre stage in the first men's grand-slam final to be contested between two players born in this century. 'It's fun, and not fun, you know. It's both ways,' said 23-year-old Sinner of meeting the Spaniard, one year his junior. 'But I think we try to push ourselves in the best possible way. I believe when there is a good match, it's also good to play, you know. It's not only to watch, but also to play. It's very special. 'And the stage, it doesn't get any bigger now. Grand-slam finals against Carlos, it's a special moment for me and for him, too. 'He won here last year, so let's see what's coming. But for sure, the tension you feel before the match and during the match is a little bit different in a way, because we are both very young, we are both different, but talented.' It is an intriguing showdown between the two bright young things who have won the last five grand slams between them. Sinner, the reigning US and Australian Open champion, is on a 20-match winning streak at grand slams and, with Wimbledon on the horizon, could be five weeks away from holding all four titles. But standing in the way of the 'Sinner Slam' is Alcaraz, who has won their last four meetings including the semi-final here last year and in the final on the Rome clay last month, albeit in the Italian's first tournament back from a three-month doping suspension. Alcaraz is also bidding to become the first man to retain the title since his idol, Rafael Nadal, managed it in 2020. 'Jannik, he's the best tennis player right now. I mean, he's destroying every opponent,' said Alcaraz. 'I love that battle. But, you know, most of the time is just about suffering, being pushed to the limit. 'But my favourite thing is it gives you the feedback of how can I be better, a better player. I think that's important, and that's beautiful, even though if I win or not.'

Zinedine Zidane rejected Man Utd job despite being handed blank cheque
Zinedine Zidane turned down blank cheques to join Manchester United and Chelsea as manager, according to his former France team-mate Marcel Desailly. Zidane has only ever managed Real Madrid at the first team level but remains often linked to some of the world's top jobs. The 1998 World Cup-winning midfielder won three Champions League titles in a row in his first spell with Los Blancos and won two La Liga titles across his two stints in the Bernabeu hotseat. Zidane resigned from his position in 2021 after failing to win a trophy - the first time Real Madrid had failed to do so in more than a decade - and has not managd since. And Desailly has suggested that Zidane has turned down lucrative proposals to return to football. Maintaining his current lifestyle and travelling remains important to the 52-year-old. Former Chelsea defender Desailly believes that Zidane will be the person to take over from Didier Deschamps for the French national team however. A move to the Saudi Pro League does not appear likely in the mind of the ex-Blues captain however. "Will Zinedine Zidane be tempted by Saudi Arabia? Well he had a blank cheque on the table from Chelsea and a blank cheque from Manchester United and turned them down – he isn't in it for the money," said Oddspedia. "I don't see why money will change anything, I know privately that he won't change his lifestyle. He likes to travel and always keeps an eye on the France national team. "He's ready because Didier Deschamps has started the transition. France will be one of the favourites for the World Cup and win or lose it's not the end of this era for France. "Since 2016, France have been growing and growing. New players have come into the team constantly and now they have the right players. Rayan Cherki is one of them alongside Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe is still there and on top of his game. "There is a real dynamic. William Saliba is in defence with Ibrahima Konate, Bayern have Dayot Upamecano. There is a squad and a philosophy and Zidane will know how to take that on to rebuild his own team. For another eight years at least France will be at the top level in Europe." With Zidane out of the picture, Desailly believes Manchester United should look to Luis Enrique to turnaround their fortunes. And despite Champions League success, he would not be surprised to see Enrique depart Paris Saint-Germain. " Football moves quickly and say that next season he makes too many mistakes, he might get into conflict with players like Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue as they grow and have a bigger say on the system," he said. "Soon they will be able to say no to the coach and his influence and because anything can happen, he might end up in the Premier League. "We are talking about something that didn't happen 20 years ago, but tactical coaching is now in the Premier League thanks to Claudio Ranieri and Jose Mourinho and so many other coaches. The Premier League has grown. "Luis Enrique would bring a new dynamic and if I was at Manchester United, I'd be asking Luis Enrqiue to come to my club. They have tried all kinds of coaches and now all eyes are on Enrique because he can build a philosophy from scratch. Manchester United need Luis Enrique." How Jobe is morphing into Jude: Bellingham brothers are following same path thanks to plan mapped out by their police sergeant father and doting mother with younger sibling turning his back on Premier League
Bellingham. One of the biggest names in the footballing world right now. Jude is the first of the Bellingham fold that comes to mind, having gone from Birmingham to the Bernabeu and rising to global fame along the way. At just 21-years-old, Bellingham has now completed his second domestic season with Real Madrid, playing alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. Bought for £88.5m by Los Blancos, Bellingham has been performing at superb levels both for club and country, continuing to be at the forefront of new England manager Thomas Tuchel 's plans. Yet, Jude is not the only Bellingham to be making a name for himself - with younger brother Jobe set to follow his older brother down a similar career path amid an impending move to German giants Borussia Dortmund. But, what is it that's lead to the striking similarities between the two? Well, Jobe and Jude have always maintained a close relationship, with family being a centrepiece for the Bellingham clan. Jobe's big brother Jude Bellingham previously played for Dortmund between 2020 and 2023 The brothers may steal the spotlight but the importance of their parents cannot be forgotten given just how essential they were in the early stages of their sons' careers. The Bellingham's ferried both Jobe and Jude to football matches growing up and the pair continue to have an active presence in the boys' lives. When Jude moved to Madrid, Mark, a former non-league striker, stayed at home with Jobe to support his development while mother Denise went to the Spanish capital. Denise, who works in human resources, manages her son's finances, allowing the pair to focus on their football. Jude even mentioned once that his mother, who resides with him in a shared flat in Madrid, makes his bed and cooks his meals. Mark has also had an important impact on the boys' life, being a key role model during their youth. A retired police sergeant for West Midlands Police, Mark introduced both Jude and Jobe to football and gave them tips on how to improve and how to deal with the pressures of football. With 700 goals in 900 appearances in the non-league, it is clear to see where the boys got their talent from, as Mark has been the catalyst for his boys falling in love with the sport. The family have always maintained a close relationship and helped shape their early careers Jude told the The Football Association: 'We talk about footballing heroes, and my dad was like my first. 'When you go and watch him play every week in non-league, you know it's not the Premier League or anything, but seeing the way that he played and the atmosphere, it made me fall in love with football so he was probably my first hero.' The Bellingham's consistently support eachother such as when Jude and his parents flew in to watch Jobe playing in the England Under-21s back in November 2024. Jobe has benefitted greatly from his parents' support just like Jude has, and the move to Borussia Dortmund marks a major step in his playing career. His family will be with him every step of the way as the 19-year-old ventures into a new country and new league, competing at the top for one of Germany's best teams. The 19-year-old will follow in Jude's footsteps and join Dortmund, signing on a five-year deal. Just as his brother did, Jobe started at boyhood club Birmingham, progressing through the academy to play for the senior team. He made 25 appearances for the Blues before Sunderland picked up the young starlet for less than £1.5m, which seems an absolute steal now. Stourbridge's finest became a spearhead of the Black Cats' midfield, making 90 appearances other two seasons, including propelling the side to a return to the Premier League after an eight-year wait. His outstanding performances in the Championship deservedly won him the EFL Young Player of the Season, an accolade his older brother won when he was at Birmingham. Who knows, pending the success of his spell with Borussia Dortmund, could Jobe and Jude play together under the lights of the Santiago Bernabeu? Only time will tell.
