All EastEnders spoilers for next week as character reported to the police

Metro3 days ago
Next week's EastEnders is packed full of confrontations, anxiety, and, of course, a few shock twists.
Here's your day-by-day guide to everything happening in Albert Square…
Avani Nandra-Hart's (Aaliyah James) pregnancy is taking a toll, with morning sickness kicking in and tensions rising. Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) is trying to convince Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) it's time to come clean to Ravi and Priya, but things get complicated when Avani attends Amy Mitchell's (Kamil Lipka-Konzaka) hot tub party.
Feeling awkward and out of place, she's tempted to have a drink, but Suki and Eve show up just in time. A heated argument breaks out, and Avani storms off. Eve follows her and, after a heartfelt chat, agrees to support Avani's decision to have a termination.
Over at the Slater house, Stacey is buzzing for Lily's return, until Jean and Freddie break the devastating news that her SecretCam photos and videos have been leaked online.
Stacey immediately suspects Joel and storms around to confront him, but Ross intervenes. Later, Joel hands over his laptop to Ross to prove his innocence. Stacey, still unconvinced, reports him to the police.
Elsewhere, Harry discovers Ravi and Okie are using Kojo's flat for dodgy dealings and tries to get involved behind the scenes. But with Ravi already under pressure from tax troubles, he demands the pair step things up.
Meanwhile, Patrick returns home from the hospital but is clearly shaken. Honey, meanwhile, sets her sights on Mr Lister's job.
Suki grows suspicious when Avani and Eve head off together, unaware they're planning to visit a clinic. Elsewhere, Stacey encourages Suki to be honest with Ravi and Priya, prompting her to finally go home and tell them the truth about Avani's pregnancy.
Tensions mount as George learns Kojo's new mate, Okie, has gifted him a flashy watch. Wanting to avoid interfering, he accepts Elaine's offer to investigate.
But things take a dangerous turn when she finds Kojo at The Arches, surrounded by an intimidating gang. The encounter escalates and Elaine ends up being thrown to the ground.
Cindy and Elaine also make an unexpected discovery: it seems George is seeing someone new, and that someone turns out to be Nicola. Meanwhile, Joel remains unbothered by Stacey's police report, and Howie is hit with guilt as Patrick's post-attack anxiety becomes more evident.
The fallout from Avani's termination rocks the Panesar family. Suki faces the anger of both Ravi and Priya, while Joel is furious after learning about Avani's decision, and even more upset that he wasn't consulted. More Trending
Kojo and Elaine find themselves in a dangerous situation, but Okie arrives just in time to scare the gang off. Grateful and trusting, Kojo later gives Okie a key to his flat, but is that a wise move?
Back on Bridge Street, Stacey receives news from the police about their investigation into Joel. And elsewhere, Gina and Harry take a break from the chaos with a long-overdue date.
Joel, still reeling, takes matters into his own hands and storms over to No.5a to confront Avani. As Priya begs Ravi to stay calm, Joel tries to provoke him. Later, he catches up with Avani and unleashes his anger until Vicki arrives, drags him home, and gives him a brutal reality check. But Joel's reaction leaves her stunned.

Trolls said I was a liar on Ozempic when I dropped 6 dress sizes, I wouldn't wish truth on worst enemy, says Enders star

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EASTENDERS actress turned body-confidence influencer Melissa Suffield on why hurtful claims that her dramatic weight loss was down to diet drugs cut her deep. Having built a vast social media following on the back of an empowering body-confidence message, when Melissa Suffield started losing weight, she faced a bitter backlash. 4 EastEnders star turned body-confidence influencer Melissa Suffield on why hurtful claims that her dramatic weight loss was down to Ozempic Credit: MELISSA SUFFIELD 4 The actress with partner Robert and their son River Credit: INSTAGRAM Many saw her noticeably slimmer frame as a betrayal of everything she stood for, and they informed her she'd 'lost her values'. As the former soap star dropped from a dress size 14-16 to an eight (sometimes even a six), others accused her of being on weight-loss injection Ozempic – an insult to someone who had fought so hard against society's beauty standards. The truth was that Melissa, who found fame more than 20 years ago playing EastEnders' Lucy Beale, was seriously ill. She was suffering from a little-known chronic condition called SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), which has made her life a living hell for the last 20 months. The effects have been devastating. Symptoms of the condition include abdominal pain, bloating and changes in bowel movements. As well as rapid weight loss caused by her symptoms, Melissa's hair fell out and her mental health plummeted. She's also been sapped of energy, which has left her struggling to care for her five-year-old son River. It's hit her financially, too, as she's forked out thousands of pounds privately to get the answers the NHS couldn't give her. 'I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy,' she says. 'It's so consuming and relentless, because if it's not the nausea, it's the brain fog and crushing fatigue. 'People who have suggested I'm on weight-loss injections and then telling me I'm lying – I'd be happy to show them my bank statements proving that I've spent £15,000 on investigations into what's wrong.' Former EastEnders star has had '40 doctors appointments' and spent 'over five figures' amid gruelling health condition Although Melissa, 32, recognises the potential health benefits of drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro in certain circumstances, having been through such misery with her digestive system lately, she can't get her head round why anyone who wasn't severely overweight would contemplate turning to the jabs. 'I can't fathom it. There will be situations where the benefits outweigh the risk. But there are so many people who are nowhere near that point, who just want to lose a few pounds, and that is such a bleak state of affairs.' 'We seem to have fallen into a place where body positivity is dead' She adds: 'Now that I've witnessed first-hand the fragility of the digestive system, I know it's not to be messed with. You're playing with fire, if you bugger one bit up, the rest collapses.' Melissa, who has grown an audience of more than 187,000 followers on Instagram as @ says she's lost 'a lot of followers' over the last year – people who claim they no longer relate to her. She admits she's now worried about her future as a content creator, considering her personal brand has been built on the back of curves and loving the skin you're in. 'It's been nerve-wracking, 100%. I can't work for some of the brands I was working with on a regular basis. My boobs have shrunk and I don't fit the bras I was [promoting] so I'm losing income, too.' The weight loss has also thrown up some personal conflict for Melissa, which she's still working through. 'When I first started losing weight, I'd look in the mirror and go: 'I look amazing!' and I'd have to stop myself, because that's what society wants – for me to be happy with a smaller body. And actually, I wasn't happy. I felt dreadful. 4 Melissa's illness led to a dramatic loss in weight 'I honestly feel like I'm afforded more respect now that I'm smaller, which is also depressing but not unsurprising, because we seem to have fallen into a place where body positivity is dead. We've gone backwards and I don't like being a part of that.' Melissa's ordeal began shortly before Christmas 2023, when both she and River fell ill with a gastric bug on the same day. While River bounced back, Melissa showed no sign of a recovery and made an appointment with her GP as soon as the surgery re-opened. 'The doctor put me on anti-nausea medication and gave me a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), which reduces acid in the stomach. I have since found out that chronic use of PPIs can cause SIBO, so rather than getting to the root of my problem, I was exacerbating it.' Over the next few months, Melissa visited the GP as frequently as four times a week. Her partner Robert, 43, works away as a cruise director, and the long spells of solo parenting were becoming increasingly gruelling. An ultrasound of Melissa's abdomen showed nothing wrong, and neither did an upper endoscopy, so after three months, she paid for a private gut health test, which reported an elevated level of methane. Thanks to her meticulous research, Melissa knew this indicated that it might be worth doing a SIBO test, which was positive. Since her diagnosis, Melissa has had to fight for treatment – she has amassed an encyclopaedic knowledge of her condition and is currently under the care of an NHS gastroenterologist, plus a team of private experts, as she works to find a solution. 'My nutritional therapist probably has more pictures of my poo in her phone than she's had hot meals! But this is all money and I don't have a bottomless pit. 'I need to be killing the bacteria and healing my gut faster than they can grow back. At the moment, I'm in the middle of a round of antimicrobials, which are like natural antibiotics, and I'm hoping for the best.' 'I would go days not even being able to lift a fork to my face, let alone eat something' Treatment is very much trial and error, and Melissa says that in the meantime her life is in limbo. 'It's very isolating to have a gut condition and have to plan your whole life around it. I've felt guilt because I can't go for long walks to the park with River, we have to stay close to home in case I get tired or sick.' Melissa is keen to use her platform to raise awareness and urges anyone with unexplained digestive issues to at least investigate the possibility of SIBO. 'I want to get to a place where everyone has at least heard of it and knows to ask for a test. The more people talk about it, the more the NHS is going to have to listen and learn.' 4 Back in her EastEnders days, when she played Lucy Beale Credit: EASTENDERS She says she's hopeful of leading a normal life again, or at least a new normal she can be happy with. 'At the moment, I'm maintaining weight, it's not falling off me like last year, when I'd go days not even being able to lift a fork to my face, let alone eat something. 'I probably won't ever eat gluten or dairy again, but I've made my peace with that. 'I also think there's likely to be quite a lot of trauma to work through once I'm out the other side. But I'm a pretty pragmatic lady and so I'm ready for that.'

Jamie Borthwick's EastEnders return 'confirmed' after three-month ban for slur

Jamie Borthwick's return to EastEnders is reportedly imminent, three months after he was suspended for using a disabled slur. The actor, 31, made headlines in June when he was found to have used the offensive remark backstage at Strictly Come Dancing's Blackpool special last November. Jamie was recorded on a mobile phone, leading to his ban from the BBC and bosses issuing a statement, calling his comments 'entirely unacceptable'. 'We have robust processes in place for this,' they added to Metro, declaring that what Jamie said 'in no way reflects the values or standards [they] hold and expect at the BBC.' The Jay Brown star apologised 'sincerely and wholeheartedly' shortly after the incident came to light, claiming he 'did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning'. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. 'Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong,' he added. 'When I made the video, I was excited and caught up in the moment. Again, that is no excuse. But my regrettable actions are not a true reflection of my views or who I am.' While Jamie has kept somewhat of a low profile in the weeks since his EastEnders ban was enforced, it's said he's now due back on set. According to The Sun, he will start filming again next month. Details of the circumstances surrounding Jamie's return to work have not been revealed, and the BBC declined to divulge anything further. However, a spokesperson did tell Metro: 'Whilst we do not comment on any individual matter, each case is always considered on its own facts. 'We are very clear on our expectations that inappropriate behaviour and language will not be tolerated.' It is not known what conversations have been had with Jamie ahead of going back to EastEnders, but campaigners are calling for him to receive additional disability awareness training. The charity Scope, which works to 'transform attitudes to disability, tackle injustice, and inspire action', has been particularly vocal, with Dr Shani Dhanda saying: 'What shocked me most about this story is the character Jamie plays in the show often appears alongside another character called Janet, who has Down syndrome. 'His character was even her stepdad at one point.' 'He didn't say the word directly to a disabled person, but even still, language is so important,' added the EastEnders fan. Meanwhile, Paul Galley, leader of Blackpool Council's Tories, has publicly invited Jamie to return to the town to 'meet members of [their] community and 'hear firsthand how his words caused hurt'. Adding that there is then an opportunity for him to 'apologise in person', the leader argued: 'The BBC lifting his suspension without any visible act of contrition beyond a statement sends a worrying message: celebrities can offend, apologise, and carry on without real consequence.' In the original footage of Jamie using the slur, he can be heard saying: 'Blackpool, by the way. Absolute m********s', as per The Sun, who obtained the recording. Backstage with Wynne Evans at the time, the Welsh opera singer then said: 'Oh my God.' Jamie, who joined EastEnders in 2006, has not spoken further about his use of the slur since his statement of apology was issued. But, he has made it clear he wishes to put things right, declaring: 'I accept the karma that has come my way due to some bad choices.' He is also 'attempting to write the wrongs in my life', having also felt remorse about how he 'handled the whole situation'. Jamie's Strictly stint descended into controversy shortly after the series ended, and Chris McCausland lifted the Glitter Ball trophy. In April, a video emerged of him and Wynne larking around with a sex toy backstage at the live tour in Birmingham, which saw them chastised by bosses. This happened before GoCompare frontman Wynne was removed from the tour for inappropriate behaviour, for which he apologised. More Trending Also that month, it was claimed that Jamie cheated on his girlfriend while Strictly was underway. Jamie, whose pro partner was Michelle Tsiakkas, had been dumped by Chloe Strand shortly after news of his sex toy scandal broke. Those close to his ex later claimed he was unfaithful to her both during Strictly filming and while on the road for the tour. View More » Jamie did not publicly speak on the allegations. What she could do with is the unconditional support of her husband, but Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is hiding a huge secret that he could have helped save Butlers. Perhaps it's because Cain has thrown himself into the surrogacy saga to block out the pain of losing Nate (Jurell Carter), but all it's done is make him forget his own immediate family. Things have not gone smoothly with the surrogacy – with Charity (Emma Atkins) trying to get pregnant with granddaughter Sarah's (Katie Hill) baby. Charity's husband Mack (Lawrence Robb) has only just got on board, but a fall in the woods after the implantation of the embryo saw the dream begin to slip through everyone's fingers when Charity found she was bleeding afterwards. Now they need another embryo transfer to try again, but the cost is astronomical. But who should come through for Sarah with a secret stash of cash? Cain, of course. He has a chunk of money that Moira isn't aware of and wants Sarah to have it for her next attempt. So, while Moira has been battling to keep a roof over her family's head, Cain has been sitting on the pot of cash that could have saved them. With all the lies he's told Moira in recent years, this will not go down well.
