Beyoncé vies for artist of the year at MTV VMAs. Will she make history again?
The VMAs will broadcast live from New York's UBS Arena on Sept. 7. Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd and Lady Gaga, who leads the pack with 12 total nominations, are also nominated in the prestigious category.
This year is especially significant for Beyoncé, who will face off with Swift for the most ever VMA wins. Both women have a total of 30 wins and are nominated for artist of the year at the 2025 show. Last year, Swift took home seven VMAs, tying Beyoncé as the top winner.
Of course, Beyoncé is already the most decorated artist in Grammys history with a total of 35 wins. Ahead of the 2025 award show, she became the leading nominee with a total of 11 nominations. Some of those included nominations in the country and American roots categories for the first time. In total, seven different songs from the album were nominated across four genres.
She wound up winning album of the year for the first time for her eighth studio album, "Cowboy Carter." She also made history as the first Black woman to win best country album for 27-track project.
"I'd like to thank all the incredible country artists that accepted this album," Beyoncé said when accepting the award. "I think sometimes genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they are passionate about and to stay persistent."
She also won the award for best country duo/group performance for "II Most Wanted" with Miley Cyrus at the award show.
Of course, Beyoncé singer closed out her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas on July 26. The concert signaled the end of her "Cowboy Carter" era — a 32-stop stadium tour that spanned the U.S. and Europe. The tour became the highest grossing country tour with over $400 million in earnings.

Paramount Plus sets 'Landman' season 2 premiere date — here's when the hit Taylor Sheridan series returns
We now know that "Landman" season 2 gets back in business this fall, as Paramount Plus has confirmed the Taylor Sheridan series is set to return this November. On Wednesday, August 13, the streaming service revealed that the popular series' second season would premiere on Sunday, November 16. Alongside this announcement, the streamer released a short teaser that quite literally raises the bar, as we zoom in on a rising pressure gauge set to enter the red zone amid shouts of alarm.
