Mitchell Robinson turned to his right hand to wake up the Madison Square Garden crowd. And hand Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton a rather forgettable moment on his end. But Robinson ignited the New York Knicks fans in this crucial NBA Playoffs meeting.

With their season on the line, Tom Thibodeau threw in his big defender. Robinson tracked Haliburton inside the paint as the Pacers star attempted a circus layup. Robinson swatted it with violent intent, however.
Robinson delivered the type of play that extended the Eastern Conference Finals. His Knicks faced elimination walking into MSG Thursday — as the Pacers held a 3-1 advantage. Haliburton even drew comparisons to Stephen Curry beforehand. But the Knicks pummeled Indiana 111-94 to force a Game 6 on Saturday.
But the Robinson blocked got the Knicks fans turning up the decibel levels inside the arena. And spark multiple online reactions.

The account Hoops Herald posted clips of his biggest plays before he joined the Knicks. As a reminder of how dominant Robinson is.
That fiery block wasn't Robinson's lone highlight. Jalen Brunson lobbed him the basketball before that swat. Robinson delivered this throw down to spark the early first quarter energy.
The 27-year-old center raised his game another level with the Knicks facing elimination. Or even the Pacers celebrating the Eastern Conference title on their home floor. Robinson clearly wasn't in the mood to end his season.
Robinson finished with six points and grabbed six rebounds. He pulled off both marks through 20 minutes of action.

Lakers 2024-25 season player grades: Dalton Knecht
A year ago, the Los Angeles Lakers seemed to be in a sort of malaise as a franchise. After a geyser of hope had emerged following their appearance in the Western Conference finals in 2023, they got run down in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs in five games by the Denver Nuggets. Then-head coach Darvin Ham got exiled and was replaced by a neophyte in JJ Redick, and the franchise looked like it needed a serious injection of good fortune. It got just a bit of that in the draft, when it was lucky enough to take University of Tennessee stud Dalton Knecht with the No. 17 pick. Advertisement Knecht had been widely expected to be one of the first 10 players chosen, but for some bewildering reason, he fell into the Lakers' laps. His rookie season had plenty of ups and downs, but he got through it in one piece, and his potential hasn't been dampened. Dalton Knecht's season stats In 78 regular-season games with the Lakers, Knecht averaged 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 19.2 minutes a game while shooting 46.1% from the field and 37.6% from 3-point range. Overall Analysis Bereft of depth, the Lakers needed Knecht to play significant minutes right away, and it wasn't long before he started to deliver. In the month of November, he averaged 13.6 points in 26.3 minutes a game and hit 50.7% of his shot attempts while going 46% from downtown. Advertisement But in early December, his shooting became as frigid as the weather at Mammoth Mountain, and his playing time went down, especially as the Lakers became more of a defensive-oriented unit. Just as it looked like he was perhaps perking up a bit in late January and early February, fate delivered him a weird curveball. The Lakers agreed to send him, forward Cam Reddish, a 2031 first-round draft pick and a 2030 pick swap to the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams, a young and promising center. It was thought that Williams would team up with recently acquired generational superstar Luka Doncic for years to come — until Williams reportedly failed his physical and the trade was rescinded. Knecht could've pouted and felt rejected, but he responded like a professional. He rediscovered his mojo in March and posted double figures in scoring in nine of 11 games, only to see his playing time almost completely disappear by the end of the month as Redick established his playoff rotation. Again, Knecht didn't complain, even though he got a total of three minutes and 40 seconds of playing time in L.A.'s five-game loss in the first round of this year's playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Advertisement Although he's first and foremost a 3-point specialist, he has shown at least a rudimentary ability to score adeptly from all three levels. He moves well without the ball and gets out in transition, and he finishes strong at the rim by dunking. His defense has been a problem, and it is presumably a big reason he has had trouble holding onto his spot in the rotation. However, he does possess ample athleticism, and therefore, he should have the physical tools to at least become a neutral defender. What's next for Knecht? Knecht is under contract for three more seasons, and the final two years of his contract are team options. In the meantime, expect his name to consistently come up in trade rumors over the next several weeks. He's a young talent whose ceiling could be relatively high but is still hard to discern at this point, and that presumably makes him an attractive piece to other teams. Sports Seriously LOS ANGELES − The calendar says it's May, but Friday night felt a whole lot like October at Dodger Stadium. It was a heavyweight prize fight. Power vs. power. Aaron Judge vs. Shohei Ohtani. The New York Yankees vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers. These two juggernauts went toe-to-toe for nine innings, and in the end, it was Ohtani and the Dodgers thrusting their arms into the air with a wild 8-5 victory in front of 53,276 screaming fans. If this was a preview to this year's World Series, an encore after their 2024 World Series, let's flip the calendar to October now. The game, with suites selling as high as $15,000, the clubhouses jammed with more than 100 reporters and Hollywood stars in attendance, was a May classic. It began with a massive 446-foot Judge home run into the center-field pavilion in the top of the first inning. Ohtani answered with a 417-foot home run in the bottom of the first. 'I thought he was copying me,'' Judge said. 'He's impressive. He's one of the best players in the game for a reason.'' It was the first time in baseball history, including the postseason, that two reigning MVP winners homered in the same inning of a game. 'It was a great baseball atmosphere. It was good to be part of it.'' There were five home runs hit in the first three innings, including four by the Yankees, but by the end of the night, it was Ohtani and the Dodgers beating Yankees ace Max Fried (season-high six earned runs) and their bullpen. Fried, who entered the game with a 7-0 record and 1.29 ERA, was handed a 5-2 lead only for the Dodgers to score four runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh. It was reminiscent of the deciding Game 5 of the World Series last year when the Yankees coughed up a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning. 'Both teams started on a really good note,'' Ohtani said, 'and I really thought it was important to score in that situation knowing that momentum is really important in the game today.'' Ohtani stole the show hitting his 21st and 22nd home runs of the season, giving him 15 homers in May, tying a franchise record last accomplished in 1985. He also set a team record by hitting 22 homers in the Dodgers' first 57 games and is now on pace to hit 63 home runs and score 173 runs. 'Shohei would probably say it's just like any other game,'' Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, 'but when you see the other reigning MVP on the other side and going out there and performing, that brings out even more of a competitor in Shohei.'' Judge was the best supporting actor in this drama by hitting his American League-leading 19th homer, 15th double, and is now hitting a major-league leading .392 with a 1.236 OPS. 'It's fun, this is Yankee baseball,'' Judge said, 'and especially going against the Dodgers. They're having a great start to the season. It was just a fun atmosphere out there.'' It was just like the glory days when these two teams met 11 times in the World Series over a 40-year span, and again last season. And, for a night in May with more than 100 regular-season games still to be played, it certainly lived up to its hype. 'You certainly marvel at some of the players on the field tonight,'' Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. 'I mean, there's a number of MVPs, All-Stars, and just great, great players. Judge had a great game with the homer and the double and an outstanding play in the game. So, some of the stars really showed up tonight.'' Said Judge: 'This is why I signed here, to play in big games, play in big moments, play for the best team.'' Well, the best team on this night was the same team that was spraying champagne on each other in October. The Dodgers didn't taunt the Yankees as they did over the winter, but the Dodgers public address announcer reminded everyone an hour before the game that the Dodgers are the defending World Series champions, and showed videotape highlights of Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam in Game 1. 'We love superstars, and to start the game off with Judge hitting a homer and Shohei answering in the bottom half,'' Roberts said, 'was pretty exciting for everyone. But it was a huge game for us to win. I think the intensity of the game, you can see the way that Aaron managed with urgency. I managed with urgency. It was a game that we both wanted.'' And, at the end of the night, it was the Dodgers coming out on top once again. Thanks to you-know-who. 'Every time he comes to the plate,'' Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin said of Ohtani, 'we're expecting something awesome to happen And he doesn't let us down a lot of times. So it's really cool to have someone like that on our team.'' The second round of the three-round fight is Saturday [7:15 p.m. ET, FOX], and while it may be the Yankees against the Dodgers, the baseball world will be focused on the latest bout between Judge and Ohtani, the two greatest players in the game.
