Fender Japan unveils the Starmaster – a Jazzmaster/Starcaster hybrid that could be the most divisive Fender offset of them all

Though we're used to seeing Fender produce wild hybrid builds through its oddball Squier Paranormal range, Fender Japan has bucked the trend by unveiling a Big F-branded Frankenstein'd creation that mashes two of the firm's offset shapes.
The newly minted Starmaster is (no prizes for getting this right) a mish-mash electric guitar model that takes inspiration from both the Jazzmaster and the Starcaster – the latter of which has experienced something of a resurgence over the past few years.
However, while on paper the Starmaster is a term that seems absolutely loaded with glorious potential – a Thinline Jazzmaster body with Starcaster trimmings, for example, would have been a winner – Fender Japan has opted instead to go down an alternative route.
It's a choice that might deter some punters, though, because FJ has decided to slap its all-too-divisive oversized Starcaster headstock onto the body of a Jazzmaster.
The result is, it has to be said, a very odd-looking Jazzmaster that from the pictures looks eerily out of proportion to itself.

Nevertheless, it could be another one of Fender Japan's classic 'growers', and while it's not exactly what we'd have gone for with a Jazzmaster/Starcaster hybrid, there's no denying there's a certain ugly-duckling sort of charm to it that might win us over eventually.
But the color-matched headstock aside, we're also intrigued by what Fender Japan has actually done to the Jazzmaster body itself. For the Starmaster, the offset has been given a strange, stepped upper bout bevel, which offers a contrasting finish to the rest of the guitar.
It's certainly not something you'd find on a regular Jazzmaster. Heck, the sports car-style vibe we get from this reminds us of comments Fender made when describing the American Ultra II range – which, of course, dropped the Jazzmaster in favor of the Meteora.
However, this is not a discarded Ultra II Jazzmaster body. Instead, as Fender Japan explains, it is a continuation of the Starcaster's headstock design, which also features the same two-step bevel motif.

Bevels aside, it's a standard Jazzmaster body, available in Jupiter Blue, Candy Apple Red and Black (which has a sleek silver highlight). Oh, and to make it even more divisive, it's available in Antigua.
The guitar is built from an alder body, while the U-shape maple neck offers a rosewood fingerboard with a 9.5' radius and 22 medium jumbo frets. The electronics department accommodates Hybrid II Custom Voiced single-coils.
These are wired to a traditional Jazzmaster control layout for a guitar that, if you only pay attention to the fretboard and body, looks just like an oddball Jazzmaster proper.
As another cool addition, the divisive new offset also boasts a brand-new headstock decal that flaunts the new Starmaster model name. Could this be the start of a fully fledged Starmaster line? It's only a limited launch, so probably not, but if this divisive offset takes flight, who knows…
The Fender Made in Japan Limited Starmaster is available for 192,500 Japanese Yen, approximately $1,290.

Sophie Turner And Kit Harington Played Siblings For Years On Game Of Thrones, And I Love Her Funny Take On Them Portraying Lovers In A New Movie

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. When certain actors play characters for a very long time, it can be hard to picture them as anyone else. That feeling becomes amplified when two former co-stars reunite for a new and totally different project. Well, now I'm feeling all those feelings as two of Game of Thrones' cast members, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, are starring in a movie together. However, to make matters weirder, these performers who played siblings on GOT are playing lovers in this new movie. That's a kind of hard to comprehend, but don't worry, Turner is hilariously struggling with it too. For context, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are set to star in the gothic horror film The Dreadful. At the moment, it's not on the 2025 movie schedule, but in a Vogue video, the actress expressed her excitement about the upcoming film and reuniting with her GOT brother, saying: I did a movie last year which I'm really excited about with my old but very good friend Kit Harington, who played my brother on Game of Thrones. We're doing a gothic horror, but we play lovers. Sorry guys, it's really weird for all of us. To state the obvious, Harington and Turner are not actually related, so if you take Game of Thrones out of it, this is not weird at all. However, they did play Jon Snow and Sansa Stark in the extraordinary fantasy adaptation for eight seasons. So, for many of us who have and still do watch Game of Thrones with an HBO Max subscription, it's hard to see these two as anything other than siblings. The HBO series got the world talking, and to this day, most of its main cast is best known for their roles in it. When I think of Harington and Turner, the Stark family and their characters are the first things that come to mind. Picturing them as anything but siblings is, as Turner said, 'really weird.' This is especially true because the series ran from 2011 to 2019, and we literally watched both actors grow up on screen, as Turner was 15 when she began playing Sansa and Harington was 24 when Season 1 premiered. View Deal However, I'll get over it just like they seemingly did, considering they made this movie together, because I love the idea of a Game of Thrones reunion on the big screen. Plus, The Dreadful sounds fascinating. The fact that it's a gothic horror had me hooked already. However, Deadline reported that the film, which was written and directed by Natasha Kermani, follows a woman (Turner) who has been living in solitude with her mother-in-law during the War of the Roses when a man (Harington) from her past returns. Sign me up! And I'll do my best to pretend like I don't know that the film's stars played siblings for years on Game of Thrones. Maybe I'll even try to pretend like I've never seen GOT (which Turner hasn't), and that might help me forget the on-screen familial ties. No matter what, I know I'll move past it, though, because, seemingly like Turner, my excitement to see the actors reunite trumps the feelings I have about these former on-screen siblings playing on-screen lovers.

'Oh, Shoot, That's My Brother': Sophie Turner Didn't Hold Back While Explaining Just How Uncomfortable She And Kit Harington Were Playing Lovers

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. I'm so thrilled that Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are reuniting for an upcoming horror movie. However, I can't quite get over the fact that the Game of Thrones cast members are going to be playing lovers. It turns out, they hilariously couldn't either, as the Sansa Stark actress recalled just how uncomfortable she and the Jon Snow actor were filming their intimate scenes together. Sophie Turner spent the better part of her time on Late Night with Seth Meyers discussing various uncomfortable filming situations she's been in. While promoting her project on the 2025 movie schedule, Trust, she talked about working with rats and cockroaches. However, she also got real about the weirdness of making out with your former on-screen brother. Here's how her story about how this ended up happening in the first place began: I just got the script for an amazing gothic horror called The Dreadful. And I was reading through all the characters, and I'm producing it. So, the director was asking me 'Who do you think?' And immediately the first person I thought of was Kit. Well, that's really sweet. I love that the first person she wanted to work with was a fellow Stark, because any Game of Thrones reunion is a good one. However, things got weird when Turner and Harington realized that their relationship in this new movie would be totally different than the one they had on the HBO show. Explaining that realization, Turner said: And so I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back like 'Yeah, I'd love to, but this is going to be really fucking weird, Soph.' And I was like, 'What is he talking about?' And then I was reading it, and I'm like kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex, and I'm like 'Oh, shoot, that's my brother.' Listen, I realize that in the Game of Thrones universe, being in a romantic relationship with your brother or niece is not necessarily unusual. However, it's also never not weird. Plus, the Stark siblings – i.e., Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, Rickon and Jon – never participated in the incest. Plus, with GOT being one of HBO's shows that got the world talking, it's admittedly hard to separate the actors from their characters. So, all that considered, yeah, it's weird that Sansa and Jon's actors are playing lovers. I love that they found it odd, too. In fact, it was so weird for them, Turner claimed that they were both 'retching' when they had to lock lips on set: But it's such a good script that he was like, 'We kind of have to do it.' So, then we put it out of our minds. And then we get on set, and it's the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst. Another really bad moment in my career. On top of this, earlier in the interview, she spoke about how 'foul' it was to work with cockroaches and rats on the same day for a different movie. She called that the 'worst day of my career.' However, a few minutes later, when they talked about The Dreadful, and Meyers asked if playing lovers with her GOT co-star was worse than the cockroaches, the actress said: Yeah. It was. HBO Max: Plans start from $9.99 a monthThe With Ads plan for HBO Max starts at $9.99 with three other tiers available. With this subscription, you can stream classics like Game of Thrones, The Sopranos and so much more. View Deal As someone who binged Game of Thrones with an HBO Max subscription, I will also have a hard time moving past this like they did. However, also like them, I'm going to do it. The fact that Turner and Harington were willing to work through the weirdness of playing lovers after playing siblings for years tells me that they're committed to this movie. So, you better believe I'm going to go see it. If they have confidence in it, I'll be thrilled to watch it, even if it means I have to work really, really hard to get over the fact that they played iconic siblings on Game of Thrones.

Is Ryan Reynolds Finally Going To Share Why Thor Was Crying In Deadpool 3? Fans Are Sleuthing Online After Recent Post

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always offering new content, both in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. While there have been some peaks and valleys in recent years, Deadpool & Wolverine broke records upon its release. Fans are still unpacking its contents, especially the scene where Thor is shown crying over Wade Wilson. And after Ryan Reynolds posted a cryptic photo, moviegoers are wondering if we'll finally get those answers. Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order will recall how successful Deadpool 3 was, and are eager to see Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds back in upcoming Marvel movies. The latter actor recently set the internet ablaze thanks to a cryptic Instagram post, check it out below: What does it mean?! Reynolds offered no caption to this post, which seemingly featured an alternate take on the Avengers logo. On top of folks wondering if he'll appear in either Doomsday or Secret Wars, there are also plenty of fans hoping that this means that the long-awaited question about why Thor was crying will be answered. Fingers crossed that happens sooner rather than later. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planDisney+ is the home for the MCU, including the Deadpool franchise. Go ad-free and pay $15.99 a month or save 16% and pre-pay $159.99 for a Deal Fans on reddit tried to decode Reynolds' message, including that ongoing Thor question. While this debate rages on, one particularly passionate fan actually found where the image he posted originated from. Specifically, it's from another reddit post, where fans showed off t-shirts they made for Deadpool & Wolverine. So it's unclear if the actor/filmmaker is teasing more information about that threequel, or something new coming on the horizons. Deadpool 3 featured a ton of cameos, including a short, but memorable appearance by Chris Hemsworth's Thor. In a clip the TVA acquired from the future of the Sacred Timeline, the God of Thunder is shown crying over Wade Wilson. But how this comes about remains a mystery. At the time of writing this story, Ryan Reynolds hasn't been officially confirmed to appear in any of the net two Avengers movies. He was noticeably missing from the Doomsday cast announcement, which might be a logical place for Wade Wilson and Thor to finally share the screen. Although Kevin Feige did confirm that not every actor in the movie was included in that announcement. Alternatively, Deadpool could show up in Secret Wars instead. The timing of Reynolds' above post definitely seems purposeful, as Doomsday is in the midst of filming as we speak. Whether or not this is n actual confirmation remains to be seen, but it's clear that fans are still obsessed over why Thor was crying over Wade Wilson. Hopefully the studio has plans to offer a payoff for this ongoing debate. Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters December 18th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list. For now, we can re-watch the Deadpool movies on Disney+.
