Canon introduces subscription security services, providing robust protection for businesses
Dubai, UAE - Canon announced the launch of its new Subscription Security Services – a flexible, easy-to-manage service which delivers end to end security protection for businesses – helping to safeguard end point devices, documents and data. Building on Canon's robust print security offering, the new Subscription Security Services leverage cutting-edge technology and are available in two tiers: 'Enhanced Security' and the more comprehensive 'Premium Security'. Both tiers include robust device hardening, automated firmware updates, data backup, and secure data destruction as standard. The 'Premium Security' tier extends these capabilities with proactive device monitoring and management, real-time threat detection, rapid recovery and detailed security insights. With the average cost of a data breach sitting at $4.88 million in 2024, it is more critical than ever for a business to take action and protect themselves from vulnerabilities to safeguard their organisation for the future. Security essentials Canon's Subscription Security Services provide businesses with the foundations for managing and securing their print device fleets. This includes robust device hardening to ensure all print and scan devices on the network are protected under a unified security policy. Establishing consistent governance across all devices is a key step in addressing the often-overlooked area of print infrastructure security. Automated firmware updates ensure devices are always running the latest software, with patches applied to mitigate against any potential vulnerabilities, minimising the need for manual updates. This proactive approach helps organisations maintain confidence that devices are operating with the highest level of protection, while supporting business continuity by reducing potential disruption. Advanced protection As security risks continue to evolve, protecting large print and scan device fleets can become increasingly complex. The 'Premium Security' tier delivers advanced capabilities tailored for organisations with larger device networks, enabling proactive security management through continuous monitoring and optimisation. Businesses benefit from enhanced real-time threat detection where security issues are flagged as they occur, enabling quick reaction and the ability to implement the necessary safeguards. Rapid recovery capabilities also allow for fast restoration of compromised devices, reducing potential downtime. Canon continually tests and refines these services to ensure the appropriate security configurations, aligning these with rigorous guidelines to give businesses confidence in the protection they receive. Canon's Subscription Security Services seamlessly integrate with the security features in Canon's existing cloud solutions, such as Cloud Connector and uniFLOW Online. This strengthens end-to-end security and helps businesses minimise security risk. By adding Subscription Security Services, Canon provides businesses with flexible deployment options to meet their diverse and evolving security needs. Quentyn Taylor, Director of Information Security at Canon Europe comments: 'As security risks evolve and regulation tightens, businesses need a simpler, more effective way to protect their print fleet. With Canon's Subscription Security Services, we're providing comprehensive security capabilities, removing the complexity of device protection so businesses can feel confident they're receiving the right expertise and best-in-class security – regardless of their fleet size.' EGA, ENEC deliver first aluminium produced with carbon-free nuclear energy
7 Aug 2025 14:32 ABU DHABI (WAM) Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) on Thursday announced the UAE's first delivery of low-carbon aluminium using electricity generated at Barakah Nuclear Energy is marketing this type of low-carbon aluminium under the product brand MinimAL. The metal will be supplied to CANEX Aluminium, Egypt's leading aluminium downstream new product positions the UAE as a reliable supplier of low-carbon industrial materials to global markets and expands EGA's low-carbon metal portfolio for our local and global Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ENEC, said, 'This milestone shows how nuclear energy is boosting national energy security and enabling the UAE's industrial decarbonisation in parallel, reliably powering energy-intensive sectors like aluminium production with clean electricity 24/7. Through the abundant electricity generated at Barakah, we have unlocked the significant, proven and long-term benefits of nuclear energy to power the UAE's low-carbon economy for decades to come.'Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA, said, 'Global demand for low-carbon aluminium is expected to triple by 2040, and EGA aims to play an important role in this growth. MinimAL is our latest low-carbon product, made possible through the UAE's investment in nuclear power generation. We are glad to be working with ENEC to supply more low-carbon aluminium to the world.'Mutassem Daaboul, Managing Director of CANEX Aluminium, said, 'At CANEX, we believe true sustainability is built into every layer of production - from the raw material to the final product. Our upcycling model already transforms waste into value-added products. Now, with MinimAL, we are taking another step forward by reducing embedded emissions at the very beginning of our process.'The clean electricity is certified through the UAE's Clean Energy Certification programme using International REC Standard (I-REC) protocols to ensure traceability and credibility. The power is supplied through Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) via the national Barakah plant generates 40 terawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, which is around 25 per cent of the UAE's electricity needs, and equivalent to the annual total power demand of Switzerland. Carbon-free electricity from Barakah avoids 22.4 million tons of carbon emissions each year, equivalent to removing 4.8 million cars from the road. EGA was the first company globally to produce aluminium using solar power, with 80 thousand tonnes of CelestiAL made in 2024. EGA also produces recycled aluminium, marketed under the product brand RevivAL, at its plants in the United States and Germany. In the UAE, EGA is building the UAE's largest aluminium recycling plant at Al Taweelah. The facility is expected to start production in the first half of 2026. Source: Aletihad - Abu Dhabi
