Coachella starts today — here's what to order immediately

NBC News11-04-2025

Those familiar with Coachella know it's synonymous with great musical acts, massive art installations and stylish outfits. While focusing on what you'll wear makes sense, you may also want to pack a few practical essentials, like a water bottle and other travel accessories that make life easier. Because as much fun as the music festival is, it also means long days in the desert and being on your feet for hours.
To help you determine what may be helpful to bring to Coachella, we compiled a list of items that are either highly rated or that NBC Select editors love. Each item was selected to help you enjoy the concert experience.
What is Coachella?
Not familiar with this popular annual event? Coachella is an annual music and arts festival that takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California and hundreds of thousands of people attend. The festival spans two weekends in April — this year, from April 11 through 20. The festival is held outside, and a few dozen musical acts perform each day. In addition to the music, there are several large-scale art installations, culinary experiences and activations.
Last-minute Coachella essentials
To gather last-minute essentials that would be helpful at Coachella, we considered items that we've covered previously and that NBC Select editors have tried and liked. We focused on necessities that will help make the experience smoother — like a refillable water bottle so you don't have to buy water constantly and a power bank to keep your phone charged.
Your phone running out of battery during a concert is so not helpful — so keep a portable charger on hand to give your cell juice when needed. According to the brand, this compact, portable charger comes with a foldable USB-C connector and a 5,000mAh battery that can hold a full charge for your phone.
JisuLife Personal Fan
This personal fan lives in my bag during the summer months and I've used it at several outdoor concerts and events. It has three fan speeds and is rechargeable via USB-C. It also only weighs 3 ounces so that it won't feel heavy in your bag.
Don't let a sunburn get in the way of a good time. Keeping sunscreen on you will make it easy to reapply whenever needed. This option has an SPF 70 and blends in nicely without leaving a white cast, says NBC Select commerce editor Cory Fernandez, who tested it for our roundup of best sunscreens. The flat shape of the bottle also doesn't take up a lot of space, which means you can fit it into a small crossbody or fanny pack.
Simple Modern Insulated Water Bottle
Staying hydrated during a music festival is a must. The Simple Modern water bottle, one of our favorite reusable water bottles of the year, makes it easy to have hydration on you at all times and will keep your water cold thanks to it being made from stainless steel and having double-wall vacuum insulation.
This brand of hand sanitizers is a favorite of NBC Select associate reporter Bianca Alvarez. They kill bacteria and hydrate your skin simultaneously, according to the brand. This pack has three scents: wild watermelon, velvet peach and berry bliss.
Pander Belt Bag
This bag can be worn around the waist or as a crossbody. It is made from nylon, which is easy to wipe clean if you spill anything on it. It has a large zippered compartment with three internal mesh pockets, making it easy to stash things you need quick access to. The bag comes in over 20 different colors.
Going with a group? Consider bringing a few AirTags. You can hand them to different people so your group can find one another if you get separated. The Apple AirTag syncs with your smart devices. Then, you can use your phone to see a map and view the exact location of your synced AirTags.

'I was a Disney child star - but blew my fortune in extravagant ways'

Joey Bragg, who rose to fame on the Disney Channel series Liv and Maddie, has spoken out about his financial struggles and admitted to splurging his savings with a VIP lifestyle Disney Channel has long been the launchpad for numerous A-listers, including pop sensations Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus. The network's series and movies have consistently kept them in the limelight, allowing emerging young talents to garner enormous followings. Yet, former Disney Channel luminary Joey Bragg has openly admitted that he frittered away his youthful earnings from acting on an extravagant way of life. Now aged 28, Joey rose to prominence through his role as Joey Rooney on the hit series Liv and Maddie. The show, which delighted audiences from 2013 to 2017, also starred Dove Cameron, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Kali Rocha, Benjamin King, and Lauren Lindsey Donzis. Joey, who was pursuing comedy before his breakthrough, revealed that he initially declined the chance to star in Liv and Maddie. ‌ ‌ He eventually accepted after a more lucrative deal was proposed, leading him to uproot to Los Angeles at 17 to film the successful TV comedy. In accordance with Californian legislation, 15% of Joey's income from the series was secured in a trust due to his minor status at the time. Setting themselves apart from some other child stars' guardians, Joey's folks "didn't pay themselves anything." Upon reaching adulthood, Joey gained access to his reserved earnings, receiving a hefty sum of $70,000 (£52k) which he obtained whole on his 18th birthday. He went on to splurge on luxurious experiences, but ultimately exhausted his funds. Joey revealed on the Cash Cuties podcast: "I moved in with my girlfriend, I went to Coachella every year, the VIP Outside Lands, it was stuff like that. I wasn't buying jet skis or boats or anything, I mean I didn't necessarily have enough to buy a jet ski or a boat, but I definitely got used to the lifestyle." ‌ One of his most extravagant outlays was at Disney World, where he shelled out $5,000 (£3.7k) for a private guide for the day. He also confessed to where a substantial amount of his fortune had gone, admitting: "Also mostly weed, I spent most of it on weed." However, the early windfall came with a downside, as Joey acknowledges it distorted his view of finances. He noted: "It definitely f***ed me up in regards to what I'm used to and what I enjoy out of life, I get got a lot easily because I'm so used to having the extra money." Despite this financial rollercoaster, Joey's career has continued to thrive, with roles in several TV series, including a lead role in the American sitcom Call Your Mother, and a recent appearance in the comedy-drama film Sid Is Dead, alongside stars like Mary Stuart Masterson and Carla Gallo.

Deal of the Day: Meta Ray-Ban Glasses are at their lowest price ever

I test a lot of cool tech for NBC Select, but a lot of them look like gadgets. A gadget may have great features, but if you're embarrassed to be seen with it, you're probably not going to use it. This is all dialed up to 11 when you're talking about a gadget you wear on your face. Thankfully, the Meta Ray-Ban Glasses look like regular Ray-Bans: classic, timeless and cool. But it's also a gadget that lets you take pictures, listen to music, take calls and more, all without pulling out your phone. If you've been wanting to try them out, now is your chance: they are at the lowest price we've seen right now at 20% off. The Meta Ray-Ban Glasses are part glasses, part camera, part headphones and part voice assistant. There are cameras on the front of the frame, speakers on the stems and microphones all throughout, which deliver surprisingly good call quality. You can control the glasses by tapping the frame or using voice commands. Taking pictures and recording video hands-free is particularly fun, and makes things like cooking or playing with your pet much easier to capture. Why trust NBC Select? I'm a reporter at NBC Select who covers technology and fitness including recent stories on smartwatches, headphones, cameras and more. For this piece, I checked Meta Ray-Ban Glasses prices and price history across multiple retailers to find the best deal.

Sun-seeking Brits have been spotted queueing for up to two hours at the Spanish hotel to get themselves the most sought-after sun loungers. 3 Brits were spotted racing to sunbeds as soon as the pool opened Credit: Jam Press/@justanotherlegoset 3 Although there were plenty of sun beds to go round, Brits were keen to nab the best spots Credit: Jam Press/@justanotherlegoset 3 One holidaymaker filmed the incident from her balcony Credit: Jam Press/@justanotherlegoset Sol Pelicano Ocas in Benidorm was transformed into the fictitious Solana Hotel for the 10 series of the fan-favourite TV show. And now, the hotel is at the heart of a sunbed standoff between tan-happy holidaymakers. Hotel guest Louise Smith couldn't believe her eyes when she spotted fellow tourists queueing up to snag the best tanning spots. And she was left completely flabbergasted when she spotted guests racing to the sun loungers as soon as the pool opened. As shown in the popular TV show, which stars the likes of Johnny Vegas and Steve Pemberton, the hotel has a huge pool area, with plenty of spots for sun loungers. However, some of the sun beds are better located than others, leaving Brits fighting over premium spots. Louise captured footage of the bizarre incident, which occurred at 9am on May 27, from her hotel balcony. 'Mick would definitely have a few choice words for them,' Louise told Luxury Travel Daily, referencing Pemberton's character in the show. 'I don't think any of the characters would approve. 'People started queuing from 7:30am. Fuming holidaymakers foil fellow Brits sneaky plans to secure sunbeds seven hours before hotel pool opens 'I think it's ridiculous. 'You go on holiday to relax, not to wake up super early to claim a sunbed.' Fellow hotel guests were also left astounded by the sun bed frenzy. Kelly-Ann Wass said: 'I've been here for a week and gone down at 10am and always managed to get a bed.' The Sun Travel team's holiday essentials WITH decades of experience and hundreds of countries under their belt, the Sun Travel team have shared some of the essential items they always pack on a trip. Here are some of the game-changing items we always pack - and some will barely cost you a thing. Lisa Minot, Head of Travel - Global travel plug with USB (£64) Caroline McGuire, Travel Editor - Hotel Slippers Sophie Swietochowski, Assistant Travel Editor - Pack of 40 earplugs (£40) Kara Godfrey, Deputy Travel Editor - 1 litre water bottle (£8.99) Ryan Gray, Travel Reporter - Bluetooth eye mask (£16.50) Giuli Graziano, Travel Writer - AirTag luggage location tracker (£29.99). Jay added: 'Wouldn't call that a relaxing holiday fighting for sunbeds.' Mo said: 'This is not a holiday to me, get up and having to queue everyday, no thanks.' The Sol Pelícanos Ocas has been approached for comment. And the famed Benidorm hotel isn't the only location that has been subject to sun bed wars. Tourists in Playa de la Americas have been branded "miserable" for waiting by the pool before sunbeds were even laid out. And one woman holidaying in Egypt revealed she was forced to get up at 6:30am to be in with a chance of snagging a sun bed.
