'Beautiful' North East restaurant awarded three AA Rosettes - have you dined here?
Since 1956, the AA Rosette Awards have been awarded to leading restaurant and hotel venues across the UK.
The awards highlight the evolution of the UK's food scene, as 'boundary-pushing' chefs and pioneering restaurants set new standards in British and global cuisine.
Among the newly awarded, two restaurants have received four AA Rosettes, while 15 have been awarded three AA Rosettes.

Among the 15 new three AA Rosettes was Emerald Restaurant located at Matfen Hall, in Maften, Northumberland.
It featured alongside the likes of North Yorkshire establishments Chef's Table by Josh Barnes in Ripon and Fifty Two in Harrogate.
Earning three AA Rosettes elevates restaurants to a level of national acclaim, recognising their outstanding culinary excellence far beyond their local footprint, the awards explain.
The AA overview of Emerald Restaurant reads: 'Set in 300 acres, 17th-century Matfen Hall is an elegant, impressive place with a classy stately home vibe.
'The Emerald Restaurant is beautiful, with its amazing original carved wooden fireplace and overmantel, an astonishing ceiling, richly patterned wall hangings, and book-lined shelves.'
It adds: 'Begin perhaps with crisp coated sweetbread with a Roscoff onion sauce. This might be followed by textures of beetroot, set on top of puréed cod roe.
'A main course of beautifully timed venison, served with parsnip and plum, is first rate.
'Dessert might be forced Yorkshire rhubarb with yogurt and lovage, or perhaps the Tunworth banana bread – a creamy cheese parfait with a banana centre, topped and tailed with thin, crisp banana.'

Rachel Reeves has been urged to scrap her controversial non-dom tax crackdown to lure foreign billionaires back to invest in Britain's much-needed building projects. Leo Quinn, the chief executive of construction giant Balfour Beatty, said the Chancellor's abolition of the non-dom regime had driven away crucial investment from the nation's infrastructure. Mr Quinn said: 'London's the best city on the planet and what we should be doing is attracting all these billionaires and wealthy families here ... because what they bring with them and the investments they make is phenomenal. 'I'm hoping that one [minister] will see the light and say, 'Maybe we've gone a little bit too far in what we've done around non-doms ... and we'll look to mitigate some of those rules.'' The Chancellor scrapped the non-dom status in April, a move widely blamed for chasing some of Britain's wealthiest people out of the country. High-profile exits that followed the tax changes include Richard Gnodde, a Goldman Sachs banker, Aston Villa co-owner Nassef Sawiris and John Fredriksen, a Norwegian shipping magnate. Mr Quinn, 68, said Britain was missing out on opportunities to attract wealthy businesspeople to invest in projects where they could 'take a long view' of the possible profits. 'The Government could do more to increase investment here, and there's huge opportunities to bring investment into the infrastructure market,' said Mr Quinn, who is stepping down after a decade at the company. His comments come as figures show foreign investment into Britain plummeted to a record low last year, despite ministers' efforts to drum up cash from overseas. The number of inbound foreign direct investment projects dropped by 12pc to 1,375, its lowest point since records began in 2008, according to data from the Department for Business and Trade. In a trading update, Balfour Beatty said the Government's efforts to speed up infrastructure developments had buoyed half-year profits, which rose 18pc to £132m. The company's projects include the £833m Net Zero Teesside carbon capture project and the Sizewell C nuclear plant, for which Balfour Beatty will deliver a third of the main civil engineering works. A Treasury spokesman said it was attracting 'record investment to our shores' and providing investors with 'direction and clarity on our priorities for major projects'. Jeremy Clarkson to finally offer ‘banned' product at pub after huge demand
Jeremy Clarkson will finally sell tomato sauce at his pub after originally declaring the eatery a 'no ketchup' zone. When the 65-year-old opened his Oxfordshire watering hole The Farmer's Dog in August 2024, he revealed it would 'serve exclusively British food'. This meant that the popular condiment, which is made from ingredients grown outside the UK, would be banned from the menu. Following thousands of requests from customers, however, Clarkson has approved the sauce's addition to the menu after a Chatham-based producer made it using solely British ingredients. Condimaniac ketchup is made of tomato passata from Isle of Wight, apple cider vinegar from Hants, Essex salt, and sugar and onions sourced from Britain. 'Making a 100 per cent British ketchup after Jeremy Clarkson alerted us to the fact there wasn't one was very hard,' the company's boss Kier Kemp said in an Instagram video chronciling the sauce's creation. 'It turned out to be really hard,' he added, noting Clarkson's Diddly Squat team requested the sauce 'as soon as possible'. Kemp said the company is making two sauces at the same time – one containing carrots and onion 'used to thicken' the sauce, as there is no purely British tomato puree. Condimaniac, which started with 1,700 bottles, will be offered at the Clarkson's butcher and bottle shop. It sauce will also be sold at Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm Shop, based in Chipping Norton, from Friday (15 August). The move is a big turnaround from Clarkson, considering the former Grand Tour star became so fed up with requests that a sign was put up telling customers to stop asking for the condiment. Speaking about the products on offer when the pub first opened its doors, Clarkson said: 'The menu changes – it's whatever we've got. There's no Coca-Cola, no coffee. Other pubs do coffee. We do British food. 'Everything that you consume in here – every single thing – even the black pepper and the sugar, is grown by British farmers.' Diddly Squat, a 1,000-acre holding, is at the centre of Clarkson's Farm, which follows the TV presenter's journey as a new farmer and the challenges he faces along the way. The 64-year-old former Top Gear presenter paid less than £1m for the pub based in Asthall, which was formerly known as The Windmill. Its opening, however, was marred by complaints surrounding the absence of prices on the menu, with many fans suspecting that this might suggest dishes would be more expensive than at other pubs in the area. When one person joked on X/Twitter that they would need to remortgage their home to afford a round of drinks at Clarkson's pub, the presenter bluntly responded: 'It's £5.50 a pint.'

Leasing sector reports enhanced relationships with OEM partners: BVRLA
The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has released the findings from its annual Member OEM Relationship survey, indicating an enhancement in the relationship between leasing companies and their OEM [original equipment manufacturer] counterparts. The latest data from 2025 shows a slight rise in contentment levels, with the average satisfaction score reaching 7.1 out of a possible 10, up from the 6.6 recorded in 2024. The introduction of the Net Promoter Score (NPS) as a new metric has provided a more nuanced view of the industry's dynamics. The overall NPS stood at +3.7 across the 27 manufacturers assessed, with the leading five brands each garnering scores of 40 and above. However, the report also pointed out areas where relationships have deteriorated since 2024. Notably, leasing companies reported the 'biggest decline' in their satisfaction with access to vehicle data and the availability of connected services. BMW maintained its position as the best-performing OEM overall. The survey reached out to 64 BVRLA members and received responses from 44% of them, representing a diverse range of leasing operations. Participants were asked to limit their feedback to a maximum of 20 manufacturers, focusing on those with which they had substantial dealings. Speaking to Fleet News, BVRLA head of research and insight Phil Garthside said: 'Some OEMs are clearly setting the standard while others have an opportunity to improve by adopting best practices. 'The new entrants are working hard to get on leasing company radars, and it's paying off. They're not just adding variety to choice lists; they're competing on service and ease of doing business.' In January, the BVRLA reported a 1.4% growth in its leasing fleet for 2024. This increase has been largely driven by heightened interest in electric vehicles provided by companies. This growth has helped mitigate the impact of a decline in demand for personal lease agreements and vans, as detailed in the BVRLA's Leasing Outlook report.
