Lombok is directly east of the island of Bali.
The woman's family identified her on social media as Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins and, on June 24, posted she did not survive the catastrophe.
"Today a rescue team managed to reach the place Juliana Marins was," the post on Instagram reads. "With great sadness we inform you that she did not survive."
According to a release from park officials, search and rescue team reported the hiker was spotted "using a drone, in a position stuck on a rock cliff at a depth of 500 meters and visually motionless."

Helicopters, at the governor's instruction, were dispatched to the area in an effort to help, the release reads.
"Two rescue personnel were deployed to reach the victim's location and check the second anchor point at a depth of 350m (1,140 ft)," the park wrote in the post. "However, after observation, two large overhangs were found before reaching the victim, making it impossible to install the anchor. The rescue team had to climb to reach the victim."
But, park officials reported, "extreme terrain and dynamic weather," dense fog conditions, and narrowed visibility have hampered the recovery.
"The team remains vigilant and committed to continue best efforts for safety and humanity," the post reads.
USA TODAY has reached out to Marins' family.
Efforts continued on June 24, park officials said.
"Pray for the safety of the whole team on the field," the post reads.

Terrifying final hours of influencer left trapped in volcano for days after fall

An influencer, Juliana Marins, has died after falling into an active volcano during a guided hike in Indonesia, after a rescue attempt over four days failed to save the 26-year-old's life An influencer endured a terrifying final struggle before she died after falling into an active volcano on a hike that went tragically wrong. It was early in the morning, and the temperature very low, when a group of tourists on a guided hike began their climb up Mount Rinjani, in Lombok, Indonesia. ‌ The group was struggling in the low temperatures and steep hiking conditions - but some more than others. When they reached the top of the second-highest volcano in Indonesia, Brazilian publicist and pole dancer Juliana Marina, 26, stopped and took videos with a friend she had made the day before - who was also backpacking solo through the country. ‌ The pair had both decided to undertake the difficult climb up Mount Rinjani - an active volcano - drawn, like many other tourists, by the promise of stunning views of the surrounding landscape from the high point. But that morning was very cloudly, and the pair joked that the breathtaking scenes they had been promised a glimpse of were covered by thick cloud. Juliana's friend Federica is seen in the video saying sarcastically: "The view is amazing, you can tell it was so worth it." Juliana replied jokingly, "Yeah, we did it for the view, so I'm glad, amazing!". Skirting along the hiking trail around the volcano's crater rim, Juliana started to struggle more and told the two tour guides that she had to take a break, unable to go any further in the cold weather, so they advised her to wait and rest. Frederica admitted the climb had been "very difficult" and other members of the group also revealed that it had been "really cold" on the volcano. Juliana was then seemingly left behind. The rest of the group is said to have carried on with their hike, accompanied by both the guides, continuing along the trail. The influencer was reportedly left with no idea what to do after being left alone in the treacherous landscape. ‌ Her sister Marianna told the Brazilian press: "She didn't know where to go. She didn't know what to do." After she was left alone on the trail, Juliana slipped and fell at about 6.30 am local time, plummeting and rolling a terrifying 984ft down a slope. She then managed to cling to a rocky ravine by the crater of the active volcano. "When the guide came back because he saw that she was taking too long, he saw that she had fallen down there," her sister explained. ‌ Tourists are reported to have heard her screams from inside the crater, where she desperately called for help. Despite miraculously surviving her initial fall, she was too injured to climb back up and was stuck there with no food, water, or shelter. Search and rescue teams were dispatched eight hours later, with severe fog said to hamper attempts to rescue the 26-year-old who had been backpacking through south east Asia by herself since February. ‌ Terrifying drone footage showed her crawling where she had fallen, but the rescue teams couldn't get to her straight away. When they tried again the following day, she wasn't where they had seen her previously. Instead, she had taken another plunge deeper into the volcano, into what the rescuers called a "deep gorge with loose rocks," the Metro reports. ‌ When they finally got to Juliana, she was around 1,600ft inside the volcano - and motionless. They opened a dedicated tent as they tried to save her, but tragically her family announced that the adventurous young woman had died. "The rescue team managed to reach the place where Juliana Marins was. With great sadness, we inform you that she did not survive," they wrote in an Instagram post. "We remain very grateful for all the prayers, messages of affection, and support we have received." The rescue attempts were extensive, with six teams accompanied by two helicopters and specialist equipment all sent out in an attempt to save Juliana's life. However, some people online have suggested that rescue attempts would have been more extensive if Juliana were white. "Juliana Marins has been missing for over two days inside an active volcano in Indonesia. "The tour company left her. The rescue failed. If she were a white American woman, there'd be helicopters, headlines, and urgency," one social media user claimed.

Haunting last video shows Brazilian dancer, 26, smiling with her friend before plunging to her death in volcano crater in Indonesia

A Brazilian dancer who died after falling into an active volcano crater in Indonesia appeared smiling and joking with her friend in a final video captured just moments before her tragic death. Tourist Juliana Marins, 26, plunged more than 1,000ft from the ridge of Mount Rinjani on Saturday and was trapped there for almost four days. Ms Martins was alive after her fall but was unable to climb back up the treacherous slopes. Rescuers reached her yesterday, only to discover they had lost the race against time and that Ms Marins had died of her injuries and exposure. In a heartbreaking clip shared by her friend Federica, Ms Marins is shown smiling at the base camp of the volcano. The two young women are seen joking about the view, as it has been clouded over. 'The view is amazing, you can tell it was so worth it', Federica says sarcastically. Ms Marins jokingly responds: 'Yeah, we did it for the view, so I'm glad, amazing!'. The Brazilian national, who was a publicist and pole dancer in Rio de Janeiro, had been backpacking through Southeast Asia since February and had been documenting her trip on social media. Other videos of Ms Marins in the days leading up to her death show her riding on mopeds and sharing meals with friends during her travels. Friend Federica told Brazilian news outlet G1 that the pair met the day before their hike up the volcano. 'I met Juliana the day before the trip. We were both travelling alone. We made it all the way to the top. It was very difficult', Federica said. Shocking drone footage taken in the wake of the tumble showed an injured Ms Marins cowering in a rocky ravine, having rolled down the steep hill before coming to a stop. She was spotted by passing tourists after they heard her screams for help. She was trapped for almost four days, but after finally reaching her yesterday, rescuers said that 'no signs of life were found'. According to a spokesperson for East Lombok Police, the young woman was part of a hiking group and fell after she had taken a break due to tiredness. Ms Marins' family in Brazil confirmed her death in a tragic social media post. 'Today, the rescue team managed to reach the place where Juliana Marins was. 'With great sadness, we inform you that she did not survive. 'We remain very grateful for all the prayers, messages of affection and support that we have received.' Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency said it found Ms Marin's body beside a crater using a thermal drone after four days of intensive searches complicated by extremely harsh terrain and weather. The difficult conditions and limited visibility delayed the evacuation process, the head of the rescue team, Mohammad Syafii, said. He explained that emergency workers climbed carrying Ms Marins' body to Sembalun base camp but would have to wait until Wednesday for transport to a police hospital. A rescue team was dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 2.32pm local time on Saturday from horrified tourists. Six rescue teams worked in difficult weather conditions to try to reach her, with the support of two helicopters and equipment such as an industrial drill. On Sunday, Ms Marins was spotted with a search drone, but when the rescuers began descending the volcano on Monday she was no longer in the same position, suggesting she had tried to climb to safety but to no avail. Her body was eventually located by one of her rescue teams that managed to safely descend into the crater. Brazil's Foreign Ministry called her death a tragedy and said the country's embassy in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, has coordinated the rescue with local authorities. Ms Marins' ordeal has riveted her home country, with millions of Brazilians following the dramatic search-and-rescue efforts since news broke of her fall. Authorities did not say when exactly she died. Adding to the frenzy in Brazil over her ordeal, Brazil's embassy in Jakarta had accused the Indonesian government of fabricating Marins' rescue and misinforming her family that she had been located and given food and water just hours after her fall. There was no immediate response from the Indonesian government on that claim. In an Instagram post, Marins' family thanked the many Brazilians who had prayed for their daughter's safety.
