Muzammil Ibrahim Recalls Losing Best Debut Award To Ranbir Kapoor: 'I Deserved It More'
Last Updated: Muzammil Ibrahim reveals he was snubbed at 2007 awards despite praise for Dhokha. Says he deserved Best Debut over Ranbir Kapoor and wasn't even invited. Model-turned-actor Muzammil Ibrahim, who made his acting debut with Dhokha in 2007, has opened up about the heartbreak he experienced during awards season that year. Despite being lauded for his performance in the Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt film, Muzammil says he was completely sidelined—while Ranbir Kapoor, who also debuted that year with Saawariya, swept all the Best Debut trophies. In a candid chat with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil didn't hold back. 'I think Ranbir had debuted that year with Saawariya, and Neil Nitin Mukesh had come with Johnny Gaddar," he began. 'Nana Patekar said that I deserved all the awards, but would not get them because Ranbir would win. Even I thought I deserved an award for Dhokha, I 100% deserved the Best Debut award. I feel I was better than Ranbir in Saawariya. I love Ranbir as an actor now, but if you compare him in Saawariya and me in Dhokha, I was better. Irrfan Khan had told Mahesh Bhatt that very few could have pulled off that part in Dhokha." But the most painful part, Muzammil says, wasn't even losing—it was not being acknowledged at all. 'I was not even invited to the award shows where I was nominated alongside Neil and Ranbir. I felt that award shows were supposed to be like a ballot, like we see in the Oscars. But here, everyone knows who is winning! Only Ranbir is sitting there, so he will win. It is pre-decided." He recalled a particularly crushing moment when superstar Shah Rukh Khan took the stage to announce the winner. 'I felt so bad when Shah Rukh Khan sir called my name and even said that he thought that I deserved the award more on stage. As outsiders, we cannot even complain about these things. We are not even invited—how will you feel? I felt like crying, I felt so bad. I had so many expectations." Reflecting on the struggles he faced while filming Dhokha, Muzammil added, 'I had suffered a lot while shooting the film and still gave a brilliant performance. I am a big champion of outside talent—the struggle we go through is immense. The industry should learn not to put down outsiders." Directed by Pooja Bhatt and produced under the Vishesh Films banner, Dhokha featured Muzammil as a conflicted police officer—a role that won him critical praise. While his career didn't skyrocket like some of his peers, he was recently seen in the hit web series Special Ops, reminding audiences of the potential he displayed all those years ago. Prince Narula Challenges Elvish Yadav, Rajat Dalal To Meet In Gurugram
Last Updated: During the MTV Roadies XX finale, Prince Narula and Elvish Yadav got into an ugly altercation. The rivalry between reality TV stars Prince Narula and Elvish Yadav has escalated dramatically following their intense fallout on MTV Roadies XX. What began as on-screen tension has now spiralled into a full-blown public feud, capturing the attention of fans across the country. The controversy erupted during the Roadies XX finale, where Elvish's gang emerged victorious. However, instead of a celebration, the moment was overshadowed by a heated altercation between Prince and Elvish. The two exchanged sharp and controversial remarks, and footage of their clash quickly went viral on social media. Soon after, Rajat Dalal, a close friend of Elvish Yadav, entered the scene. He shared a video on his Instagram claiming that he helped both Prince and Elvish settle their differences after a major argument on the Roadies set. But things have now taken an unexpected turn. Recently, Prince shared a fiery video on his Instagram Stories. In the video, he directly challenged Elvish and Rajat to meet him in Gurugram on June 4. He said, 'Gurugram ke baad hum aa gaye hai Wazirabad mei (After Gurugram, we've come to Wazirabad)" He continued, 'Na toh tu Gurgaon aaya, na Wazirabad. Mere ko pata hai tere mein dum nahi hai, na tu aayega. (You didn't come to Gurugram or Wazirabad. I know you don't have the guts, and you won't come)." Prince captioned the post with: '4 tarik humare taraf se done. Jo kaha tha, kar diya (June 4 is done from our side. We did what we said)." According to TellyChakkar, Rajat responded by gathering his friends to face the situation. Later, Prince said that neither Rajat nor Elvish showed up. Prince posted another video saying, 'Humne dekh liya tum mein kitna dum hai (We've seen how much courage you actually have)." He added, 'Tum mein se koi nahi aaya. Humne subah se wait kar li. Ab yeh controversy yahin khatam. Iske baad hum koi jawab nahi denge. Ab apna kaam karo kyunki pata chal gaya kitne paani mein ho tum (None of you came. We waited since morning. Now this controversy ends here. We won't respond anymore. Go do your work, now we know your true worth)." While things are not looking to die down soon between them, Elvish recently, in an interview with Pinkvilla, shared his thoughts on the ongoing feud. He said he doesn't hold grudges and doesn't carry negativity in his heart. Elvish further said that he and Prince are very different people. So, he doesn't feel that there is any need to sort things out now. First Published: June 05, 2025, 17:41 IST
