Just keep in mind that a digital waterfront permit is required for specific waterfront areas. As residents light up the night sky with fireworks, the city reminds everyone that fireworks are permitted until 11 pm on July 1, as per the Noise By-law. The City also encourages brushing up on safety reminders before setting off those sparklers.

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the streets of Old Montreal will come alive with a festive, inclusive, and colorful walk, bringing together citizens, families, and visitors for a moment of pride and collective connection. A Symbolic and Unifying Route From Place d'Armes to the Clock Tower Quay, the public is invited to walk 1.2 km in a lively atmosphere, led by musicians and percussionists. Each province and territory of Canada will be represented by a cultural totem, highlighting the country's diversity and richness. A Moment of Unity to Launch the Celebration The gathering will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the distribution of small Canadian flags. A short opening ceremony will take place at noon, with the participation of Anthony Horng and invited delegates. The walk will begin at 12:30 p.m., arriving at the main celebration site at the Clock Tower Quay by 1:00 p.m.—just in time to witness the ceremonial salute marking the official start of Canada Day.
