Patna: Bihar Police has started training of 21,391 newly recruited constables this year. Among the constables, 10,207 are male, 11,176 female, and 8 transgender candidates, reflecting a strong push of the state govt toward inclusivity.
"The training, which began on July 21, is also for the 1,060 personnel, who were appointed earlier. Altogether 22,300 police personnel are undergoing training during this session," said additional director general (ADG), training, Sanjay Singh, on Wednesday.
The training program will span nine months, during which the recruits will undergo rigorous training to prepare them for their roles in maintaining law and order across the state.
The ADG said, "The training are being conducted in several districts at police training centres having comprehensive resources to ensure effective training. A total of 33 districts and 15 police training centres have been identified for this purpose, and training infrastructure has also been expanded at these centres to accommodate the large number of recruits. Additionally, 628 male constables will undergo training at SSB centres in Bagaha, Bettiah, and Sitamarhi.
The ADG further said that in addition to the standard training, special focus will be given to enhancing the skills of the recruits in various areas, including cybercrime, disaster management, and community policing, he said.
"To instruct the newly appointed constables, 490 internal and 980 external instructors have been deployed. These instructors recently underwent orientation training at the Bihar Police Academy in Rajgir.
All instructors will be given a 12% training allowance as per regulations. Moreover, three new laws of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), effective from 2024, have been included in the syllabus for the constables.
The new basic training curriculum is divided into three parts, consisting of over 1,100 pages, and a free copy will be provided to all trainees," the ADG added.
The Bihar Police Headquarters has also collaborated with JEEVIKA for better management of the training process, ensuring that all training centres are equipped with the necessary resources.

Senior Chinese diplomat Liu Jianchao taken in for questioning: Report

Liu Jianchao, a senior Chinese diplomat widely seen as a potential future foreign minister, has been taken away by authorities for questioning, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. His detention marks the highest-level probe involving a diplomat since China ousted its former foreign minister and President Xi Jinping's protégé, Qin Gang.(AFP File Photo) Liu was taken away after returning to Beijing in late July from an overseas work trip, WSJ reported, citing people familiar with the matter. China's State Council Information Office, which handles media queries for the Chinese government, and the Chinese Communist Party International Liaison Department did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment. Liu, 61, has led the Communist Party's body in charge of managing ties with foreign political parties. Since taking the role in 2022, he has travelled to more than 20 nations and met officials from more than 160 countries. Liu's busy schedule, especially his meetings with the former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, stoked expectations that the former ambassador and ministry spokesman was being groomed to be the next foreign minister. His detention marks the highest-level probe involving a diplomat since China ousted its former foreign minister and President Xi Jinping's protégé, Qin Gang, in 2023 following rumours of an extramarital affair. Born in the northeastern province of Jilin, Liu majored in English at Beijing Foreign Studies University and studied international relations at Oxford before taking up his first post as a translator with the foreign ministry. He has served in China's mission to Britain and later as ambassador to Indonesia and the Philippines. During his time as ministry spokesman, he was known for humorous off-the-cuff comments while making a no-nonsense defence of China's interests.

In Just 6 Months, This App Helped Recover Lakhs Of Stolen Phones

More than 5.35 lakh lost or stolen mobile phones have been recovered across India, thanks to the Sanchar Saathi initiative of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). In only six months, the programme's mobile app has crossed 50 lakh downloads. The Sanchar Saathi app is available in English, Hindi, and 21 regional languages. It allows users to report suspicious calls or messages directly from their call or SMS logs, check all mobile numbers registered under their name, block and trace lost or stolen devices, and verify handset authenticity before purchase. Since its launch, the initiative has also disconnected over 1 crore unauthorised mobile connections and deactivated more than 29 lakh numbers flagged through its Chakshu feature. To curb financial fraud, the DoT has introduced a Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) that flags mobile numbers linked to suspicious activities. Based on these alerts, 34 financial institutions have frozen 10.02 lakh bank accounts and wallets and restricted transactions on 3.05 lakh accounts. The Sanchar Saathi portal has seen 16.7 crore visits. Officials credit the success to ' Jan Bhagidari ', or citizen participation, with public reports playing a crucial role in stopping cybercrime and misuse of telecom resources. The DoT has urged citizens to remain vigilant and use the app to safeguard their digital identity. App Features Chakshu: Instantly report suspicious calls or SMS. Know Connections In Your Name: Identify and remove unauthorised mobile numbers linked to your ID. Block Lost/Stolen Phones: Trace and block devices remotely. Check Handset Authenticity: Verify if a mobile handset is genuine before buying. The Sanchar Saathi app was launched on January 17, following the success of the Sanchar Saathi portal, which went live in May 2023. It is available for download on Google Play Store and Apple Store. This was part of the National Broadband Mission (NBM) under the 2018 Digital Communications Policy, aimed at expanding internet access and bridging the digital gap. By September 2024, it had extended fibre networks to 41.91 lakh km, increased telecom towers to 8.17 lakh, and boosted broadband users to 941 million. It also eased project clearances through the GatiShakti Sanchar portal and launched the "Call Before u Dig" app to protect underground cables.

Axed CRPF jawan dies by suicide, blames wife

Patna: A suspended CRPF jawan on parole allegedly ended his life in Bihar's Saran district, leaving behind a video and suicide note accusing his wife and mother-in-law of mental harassment. Anand Kumar, 45, a resident of Jakhua village under Rivilganj police station, consumed poison on Thursday night. He had been released on 90-day parole from a Jammu and Kashmir jail, where he was serving a life sentence for killing three colleagues in 2006. In the video, Anand alleged, "My wife Sarita and my mother-in-law have together ruined my family and my life. I am taking this step because of them. Only my wife Sarita is responsible for my death." He claimed his wife emotionally blackmailed him, insulted him and that her family also mentally tortured him. Rivilganj SHO Subhash Kumar Paswan, however, said Anand fell ill after dinner on Thursday. "The family rushed him to Chhapra Sadar Hospital, where he passed away during treatment on Friday night. The police conducted an autopsy and handed over the body to the family," he said. "The authenticity and other aspects of the video circulating on social media are being investigated," the SHO added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Official IQ Test: What is Your IQ? | Answer 30 Questions to Find Out IQ International Undo Police said Anand was convicted in 2006 for fatally shooting inspector Shyam, havildar Joginder and havildar H N Pandey while on guard duty at then Jammu and Kashmir CM Ghulam Nabi Azad's residence.
