US Open LIVE SCORES: Mixed doubles updates as Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula eye $1million jackpot

US OPEN action is HERE - with the freshly revamped mixed doubles heading set for a thrilling climax TODAY! Top seeds Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula will face Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud in the first semi-final of the night. The other last four clash sees defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori take on surprise package Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison. Yesterday saw Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz pair up amid dating rumours, but they crashed out in the first round following a 4-2 4-2 defeat to Draper and Pegula. 19th Aug 2025, 16:20 By Kieran Davies Errani/Vavassori* 1-1 Rybakina/Fritz Much more convincing by Errani/Vavassori. By Connor Greaves US Open mixed doubles format The updated mixed doubles championship will consist of best-of-three-set matches, with short sets of up to four games. If each team claims four games in a set, they'll then play a tiebreak. There will be no-ad in games that reach a score of deuce (40-all), meaning that the winner of the next point from that scoreline wins the game. If the teams split sets, a 10-point match tiebreak will be played instead of a third set. The first team to earn 10 points in the tiebreak, with an advantage of two or more points, will win the match. The final will also be a best-of-three-set match, but with sets in this instance maxing out at six games. It will also have no-ad scoring, though, and will substitute a third set for a 10-point match tiebreak if teams split sets. Additionally, if teams split games in any given set, they will play a tiebreaker 19th Aug 2025, 15:44 By Connor Greaves Today's Order of Play Naomi Osaka and Gael Monfils vs Caty McNally and Lorenzo Musetti (4pm BST / 11am EST) Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud vs Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe (not before 5pm BST / 12pm EST) Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper vs Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz (not before 7pm BST / 2pm EST) Olga Danilovic and Novak Djokovic vs Mirra Andreeva and Daniil Medvedev (not before 7pm BST / 2pm EST) Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori vs Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz (4pm BST / 11am EST) Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka vs Karolina Muchova and Andrey Rublev (4pm BST / 11am EST) Taylor Townsend and Ben Shelton vs Amanda Anisimova and Holger Rune (not before 6.30pm BST / 1.30pm EST) Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison vs Belinda Bencic and Alexander Zverev (not before 6.30pm BST / 1.30pm EST) 19th Aug 2025, 15:38 By Connor Greaves Sinner WITHDRAWS Jannik Sinner has pulled out of the new US Open Mixed Doubles Championship – the day after he almost collapsed on a tennis court. Hours before the revamped, two-day event was due to start in New York, it was announced that the No.1 player in men's tennis had made the call to withdraw and will not take part in the action at Flushing Meadows. The reigning Wimbledon champion has failed to recover from the illness that blighted his participation in the final of the Cincinnati Open on Monday night. Sinner, who turned 24 last Saturday, did not feel well after winning his semi-final against French qualifier Térence Atmane but had hoped he would recover in time before facing Carlos Alcaraz. Yet he only lasted five completed games of the first set before telling a trainer and tournament official in Ohio: 'I cannot move – I feel like I can collapse.' Sinner, who holds three of the four majors, apologised to fans as medics rushed over to treat him and he was heard saying: 'I tried, but I can't. I'm sorry for the fans.' It is not thought to be serious enough to prevent him from defending his US Open crown with the singles tournament starting this Sunday. Yet his absence is a huge blow to organisers behind the reimagined US Open Mixed Doubles Championship, which has a $1million prize for the winning team. Sinner and Czech player Katerina Siniakova will not take part now – they had been due to face German Alexander Zverev and Switzerland's Belinda Bencic in the Last 16 at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. They will be replaced in the draw by an alternate team with the highest combined singles ranking. Those alternates had to sign-up by 10.30am on Tuesday but priority is shown to those that had been entered before the initial July 28 deadline. All eyes will be on how Alcara, 22, performs after a mad dash from Cincinnati to the Big Apple as he teams up with British No.1 Emma Raducanu. The first and second rounds will be played on Tuesday while semi-finals and final are scheduled for Wednesday evening. Through the semifinals, matches will be best of three sets with short sets to four games. There is no-ad scoring, tiebreakers at four-all and a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. 19th Aug 2025, 15:37 By Connor Greaves Pick n mix Welcome to SunSport's official coverage of the US Open mixed doubles tournament - and it promises to be nothing short of thrilling! Some of the world's best tennis players will be joining forces for a new reimagined mixed doubles tournament. Organisers of the US Open are attempting to push the mixed doubles into a headline start to the Grand Slam. And it is a star-studded event that sees the likes of British icon Emma Raducanu, Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz and fan favourite Jack Draper feature. But looking even further across the pond, female phenomenon Venus Williams is also expected to play.

Brendan Rodgers on Celtic fans chanting 'Sack the Board': I don't know any board that gets sacked. It is normally the manager!

Brendan Rodgers on Celtic fans chanting 'Sack the Board': I don't know any board that gets sacked. It is normally the manager! Brendan Rodgers has told Celtic fans he has no idea if club directors will pay any attention to their chants of 'Sack The Board' or his continued demands for new players. And he made a point of stating that it's managers such as himself who get the chop rather than those above him in the food chain when results don't go to plan. The home fans blew a gasket as their team was held 0-0 by Kazakh outfit Kairat Almaty in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying play-off and targeted CEO Michael Nicholson and chairman Peter Lawwell over the absence of big-name signings ahead of this £40million Euro tie. Rodgers has already made it crystal-clear that he wants signings in several positions and now finds himself short at right-back for next Tuesday's return after Alistair Johnston was taken off on a stretcher with a hamstring injury in the first half. Asked if he felt the board would listen to the unrest within Parkhead last night or even his own demands, Rodgers replied: 'I don't know. I can only concentrate on the team that we have currently. I can't get too distracted by what I don't have.' When asked if he understood why the supporters staged such a public show of dissent, he added: 'Yeah, absolutely. Understanding 'Sack The Board'? I don't know any board that gets sacked. It is normally the manager. It was a tough night for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers as his side drew 0-0 Rodgers has been asking for reinforcements to his squad but business has been slow Celtic skipper Callum McGregor cut a frustrated figure at full-time at Parkhead 'At any club I ever see, it's the manager that gets the sack. It's not the board. 'But listen, we have to go away and analyse tonight and see where we could be better. I've said many times that, in order to progress at this level, we need to have more.' Rodgers also believed the difficulties experienced against Kairat showed exactly why he needs to freshen up the side with quality signings. 'Nights like that do,' he told TNT Sports. 'At this level, they have a good team that understands the game, they have some really good players and a young winger going to Chelsea next season. 'They are talented players and they are used to winning. We know where we have to improve.' Rodgers spent almost £30m on Arne Engels, Adam Idah, Auston Trusty and Paulo Bernardo, with Idah the only one picked to start last night. He was then hooked at half-time. 'I've said it clearly and I can't keep going on about it. Every press conference I have, it's so, so clear what this team needs,' added Rodgers. Captain Callum McGregor admits the unrest throughout the stadium did filter its way onto the pitch, but insisted that it did not make a difference to the players or increase their anxiety. 'Not for the group,' he said. 'We'd been playing really well coming into the game. It was a big game, we didn't start well and that's where the anxiety comes from. 'We know how much everyone wants it. Everyone wants to be in the Champions League. When that starts to fester through the stadium then, of course, the players feel it — but it's our job to try and block that out and keep playing. 'Listen, we've still got another game. It's 0-0 in the tie. We never lost. We have to go there next week and win — and that's no problem!' Rodgers, who took charge of his 800th fixture as a boss, is also positive. 'I've been here before in a qualification game,' he said. 'We drew 0-0 with Rosenborg and went on to play really well in the away leg and we'll have to do that here. 'But we'll have to play better than we did in the first half. We were very passive, lacked belief, were slow. We were on autopilot a little bit, lost connections and speed, didn't move well enough as a team.'
