Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has withdrawn from participating in this weekend's WNBA All-Star festivities to rest a right groin injury. Clark, who led all players in fan voting and was named a starter and team captain for Saturday's game in Indianapolis, also opted out of the 3-point contest.
"I have to rest my body," Clark said in a statement released by the Fever. "I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy [Brondello] coach our team to a win."
Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally, originally selected as a starter for Team Clark, also pulled out earlier in the week due to an ankle injury.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert named Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes and Atlanta Dream forward Brionna Jones as replacements. This marks Sykes' first All-Star appearance, and she enters the break averaging 17.1 points per game. Jones, a four-time All-Star, is contributing 13.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Despite Clark's absence on the court, her presence will still be felt as she joins Team Clark's bench to support her squad during the league's showcase weekend.

'It's one Steph Curry' — DeMar DeRozan says copying Golden State Warriors star is misleading for Hoopers

(Image Source - Getty Images) Stephen Curry's groundbreaking influence on basketball has transformed the sport for an entire generation. His unique talent for hitting three-pointers has encouraged numerous young players to mimic his approach. Nevertheless, DeMar DeRozan, a long-time NBA star and six-time All-Star, has a word of caution for aspiring players: pursuing the 'Steph Curry model' might lead them in the wrong direction. DeMar DeRozan tells young players not everyone can be Stephen Curry In the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast, DeRozan had a chat with young players and their parents, encouraging them not to feel the need to copy Curry. 'I never want young guys that's coming up to feel discouraged, like they've got to go out there and be Steph Curry,' DeRozan said. 'Everybody's just not going to be Steph Curry. It's one Steph Curry.' His remarks underscore the fact that Curry's skill set stands out, even among NBA legends. Aaron Judge Tommy John update: Injured Yankees star misses Phillies game - When could he return?

New York Yankees mainstay Aaron Judge was ruled out of the lineup on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 33-year-old was sent for imaging of his right elbow after he felt pain Tuesday night after a throw from right field against the Toronto Blue Jays. 'We'll wait and see as they read the imaging.' The development comes as the team has been sliding down the standings for two months. While nothing is confirmed yet, in the worst-case scenario, Aaron Judge could have had a UCL tear. That would require Tommy John surgery, and the seven-time MLB All-Star could miss out on all games until 2027. He last played on Friday when the Yankees lost 15-5 against the Phillies. Boone said he is not making assumptions about Judge's injury. 'Hopefully it's something that is manageable and we can get through,' Boone added. The two-time AL MVP leads the major leagues with a .342 batting average and 1.160 OPS. The 33-year-old has 37 home runs and 85 RBIs. He was spotted clenching his right hand in a fist during the Toronto game on Tuesday. 'He had a throw in Toronto where it zinged him, it hurt,' Boone said. Judge started as the Yankees' designated hitter on Wednesday. He, however, returned to the field on Friday after an off day. On Saturday, Cody Bellinger started in the right field against Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez with Trent Grisham in center field and Jasson Dominguez in left field. 'Felt like he was fine on the off day, and then just last night was really dealing with it. He couldn't really throw well from the outfield,' Boone said. Boone said Yankees team physician Dr Christopher Ahmad was to read the imaging Saturday. When could Aaron Judge return? No official return date exists yet, as the Yankees await imaging results, potentially available by Sunday. If it's a minor strain, Judge could return within days, possibly for Monday's game against the Phillies, pending improvement. However, if Tommy John surgery is needed, recovery could stretch into mid-2027, given the 14–18-month rehab timeline for position players.

World University Games - Archery: Sahil claims gold, silver for Parneet

Sahil Jadhav won the compound men's individual gold, while Parneet Kaur picked up the women's individual silver to help India finish second with five medals, including two gold, two silver and a bronze, in archery at the World University Games in Essen, Germany, on Saturday. Sahil edged out compatriot Kushal Dalal 148-148 (30-29, 30-29, 30-30, 29-30, 29-30, shoot-off: 10*-10; shot closer to the centre) in an all-Indian semifinal match before stunning World Cup Stage team gold winning British archer Ajay Scott 149-148 (30-30, 30-29, 30-30, 30-30, 29-29) in a keenly-contested final. Sahil, who claimed a team silver with Kushal, held his nerve to shoot perfect scores for four consecutive ends and managed to thwart Scott's challenge in a high-pressure duel. Kushal was beaten 150-148 (30-29, 30-30, 30-30, 30-30, 30-29) by a flawless Polish archer, Przemyslaw Konecki, in the bronze medal match. Parneet, who had secured a mixed team gold and a women's team bronze, defeated Korean Kim Sooyeon 145-144 (30-29, 28-27, 30-28, 28-30, 29-30) in the semifinals, but lost 146-147 (30-29, 30-29, 28-30, 29-30, 29-29) to another Korean, Moon Yeeyun, in a closely-fought summit clash and settled for the silver.
