Parkway girls' hoops confident heading into quarterfinals against Denham Springs
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Parkway girls' basketball is feeling confident as they prepare to take on Denham Springs in the LHSAA Girls' Basketball Quarterfinals this Thursday night.
The two teams are no strangers to each other. They met in the state championship game last year where Parkway defeated Denham Springs 57-29 to secure the Lady Panthers second consecutive state title.

'They're very disciplined,' explained senior Savannah Wilson. 'They play defense really well. They're a tough team, but I feel like we're confident we can beat them.'
Earlier in this year's regular season, the Yellowjackets took on Parkway again where the Lady Panthers dominated over Denham Springs winning 50-18.
The Parkway girls' basketball has been dominant over the past few years and the program has consistently produced strong talent like star LSU guard Mikaylah Williams and Tennesse Tech guard Chloe Larry.

This year it's been up to Wilson and fellow senior Dakota Howard to lead the Lady Panthers to success.
'What has made us successful is sticking together,' added Wilson. 'We do not let any adversity come and split us apart. We always work together, and we never break apart.'
Parkway and Denham Springs will go head-to-head in the quarterfinals this Thursday at 6 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals and make the trip down to Hammond for the state tournament.

Aces star A'ja Wilson leaves loss to Sparks early with head injury
A'ja Wilson tried to block Dearica Hamby at the rim when she took an incidental shot to the face on Wednesday night. (Thien-) Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson left Wednesday night's loss to the Los Angeles Sparks early after she took a shot to the head. Wilson, in the third quarter of the Sparks' 97-89 win at Michelob Ultra Arena, rose up deep in the lane and tried to block Dearica Hamby as she tried to make a layup. Advertisement While the block was successful on paper, Wilson was drilled hard in the face in the process. She stumbled backward and immediately reached for her face, clearly in a lot of pain, as play continued on the other way. Wilson remained in the game for a few minutes, but she left just before the third quarter ended. The team then quickly ruled her out with a head injury the rest of the way. Further specifics of her injury are not yet known. Wilson finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the loss. The three-time MVP entered the night averaging 22 points and 9.9 rebounds this season, her eighth in the league. Only Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier is scoring more points per game than Wilson is across the league. Advertisement After opening the game on the wrong side of a 9-2 run, the Sparks rallied back and led the entirety of the final three quarters to pick up the eight-point win. Rickea Jackson led the way with a career-high 30 points and seven rebounds, and Azura Stevens added 19 points and 19 rebounds. Jackie Young led the Aces with 34 points and eight rebounds, and Chelsea Gray added 28 points behind six 3-pointers. The loss, which was the team's second straight, dropped the Aces to 4-4 on the year. While it's unclear how significant Wilson's head injury is, any time missed could prove costly for the Aces. They'll be back in action on Friday night against the Dallas Wings.

Nation's No. 3 DL Updates Intense Recruiting Battle Between Alabama, Auburn
Nation's No. 3 DL Updates Intense Recruiting Battle Between Alabama, Auburn originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Two contenders have emerged for class of 2026 four-star recruit Nolan Wilson, one of the top defensive lineman in the country. Advertisement Wilson (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) plays for Picayune (Mississippi) Memorial High School, where he ranks as the No. 3 player at the position, the No. 4 player in the state and the No. 44 recruit in the country, per On3. Five major college football programs made Wilson's top schools back in May, featuring Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miami and Florida. The summer is a crucial point for teams to make their best pitches to highly-coveted recruits like Wilson, who had already been on campus at Miami (April 3), Texas A&M (May 16) and Alabama (May 30) before making a trip to Auburn over the weekend. Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer and Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze Jake Crandall/ Advertiser / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images In-state rival Alabama was previously believed to be Wilson's leader, but head coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers must have made a significant impression. Advertisement That official visit propelled Auburn to the top alongside head coach Kalen DeBoer's Crimson Tide, according to Wilson. "I say they're equal," Wilson said via Rivals' Caleb Jones. "I think they're the contenders." The SEC rivals are used to recruiting against each other and had a lot of success in the 2025 cycle with Alabama signing the nation's No. 3 class and Auburn not far behind at No. 8. Wilson's summer schedule isn't over yet, including official visits to Ole Miss (June 13) and Miami (June 20). No commitment date has been scheduled at this point, but it wouldn't be a surprise for Wilson to make his decision before his senior season.
