Crisis Management Technologies Exhibition receives Guinness World Record
ABU DHABI (WAM)The Crisis Management Technologies Exhibition marked a new global milestone for the UAE, entering the Guinness World Records for showcasing the largest transparent interactive screen in the world, spanning 12.567 square metres.This cutting-edge achievement was made possible through the efforts of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).The Guinness World Records Official Certificate was presented to Ali Rashid Al Neyadi, Director-General of NCEMA, by Hanane Spiers, Official Adjudicator, MENA Region.On the occasion, Al Neyadi said, "We have learned from our wise leadership to always strive for number one, to shape the future with our own hands, making the UAE a model for others to follow. We are proud to dedicate this achievement to our leadership, to the people of the UAE, and to everyone who calls this country home."This milestone reflects NCEMA's commitment to deploying the most advanced technologies and forward-thinking innovations to elevate emergency and crisis management ecosystem, drive smart preparedness, and foster public engagement, ultimately supporting societal readiness in the face of any future challenges."
The transparent interactive screen features smart glass technology powered by advanced artificial intelligence, offering a holographic display with motion-sensing capabilities that enable visitors to interact through hand gestures, creating an immersive and truly unique experience.

GCAA issues new civil aviation regulation on Aerodrome Crisis Management
21 Aug 2025 13:56 ABU DHABI (WAM)The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has officially published its Civil Aviation Regulation (CAR) on Aerodrome Crisis Management (ACM), a bespoke regulation designed to transform how aerodromes prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises, emergencies, and operational through close collaboration with the UAE's airports and international best practices, the regulation establishes a holistic, integrated, and proactive framework for aerodrome crisis regulation marks a strategic shift away from traditional reactive and compartmentalised models, toward a coordinated, performance-driven approach that enhances safety, business continuity, and operational excellence across the aviation Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, said, 'This regulation reflects the UAE's commitment to proactive aviation leadership. Our aerodromes will not only be better prepared for crises but will also emerge from them stronger and more unified.'The new regulation sets a global benchmark for managing complex, evolving challenges such as pandemics and natural disasters. 'Ministry of Higher Education' unveils unified system to govern students' practical training
21 Aug 2025 11:06 ABU DHABI (WAM)The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has issued Ministerial Resolution No. (173) of 2025, setting a unified regulatory framework for governing practical training programmes in higher education institutions (HEIs). The resolution seeks to align higher education outcomes with labour market needs and ensure the quality and effectiveness of such training new decision introduces an integrated governance system that aligns practical training with national development priorities, enhancing transparency, accountability and the quality of higher Mohammed Al Mualla, Undersecretary of MoHESR, noted that the decision highlights the Ministry's commitment to advancing practical training, ensuring graduates gain skills aligned with key economic said, 'Practical training bridges theory and real-world experience, equipping students with the skills needed to succeed and innovate in the workforce. The resolution provides clear governance frameworks, ensuring the programmes offer structured, hands-on training that prepares students for the future.'Dr. Al Mualla added, 'The new framework bolsters collaboration between HEIs and training providers in the public and private sectors, ensuring high-quality, safe and engaging training under experienced supervision. It establishes effective oversight to guarantee meaningful outcomes, preparing graduates with the knowledge and practical skills they need to contribute to driving the country's sustainable development.'The decision establishes clear obligations for HEIs to enhance the governance of practical training. It emphasises cooperation with training providers to ensure that programs meet students' needs and institutional goals, guarantees safe and suitable training environments, and requires supervisors - both at institutions and training providers' premises - to be qualified, experienced, and capable of effectively assessing student the resolution requires HEIs to develop clear training plans, formalise agreements with training providers and monitor student performance through interim and final assessments as well as field visits. Relevant entities must also maintain comprehensive records, submit detailed reports and implement robust oversight mechanisms for practical training programmes. The decision supports the UAE's vision of a competitive, innovation-driven, knowledge-based economy, aligning with global best practices in higher education. It seeks to prepare graduates to excel professionally, lead across sectors, contribute to a sustainable future for the UAE and compete regionally and internationally.
