Philippe Clement 'offered' management return but ex Rangers boss puts mega money deal on hold
Former Rangers boss Philippe Clement has been offered a mega-money return to management in China.
The Belgian was hired to replace Michael Beale in October 2023 - but he lasted just 16 months before being axed being shown the door.
His tenure was on the brink after the nightmare Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Queen's Park in February - before defeat to St Mirren two weeks later led to the 51-year-old being shown the door by the Rangers ' powerbrokers.
Now, Nieuwsblad report that former Chinese Super League winners Shandong Taishan are keen to bring in Clement as their next boss.
Peng Han currently holds the hot seat on an interim basis but the club want a European manager going forward - and Clement is "high on the list" of targets.
It is claimed that a €1million-per-year contract has been put on the table after initial contact with the former Monaco and Club Brugge gaffer's representatives.
The deal would see Clement take up the role in January 2026 - following the end of the current campaign in China.
However, it is claimed that the axed Ibrox boss is keen to land another job in Europe and is in no rush to commit to Shandong.
It is noted the situation could "change quickly" with Clement weighing up his options after undergoing hip surgery earlier in the summer.
Speaking earlier in the summer, Clement explained his disappointing tenure in Glasgow stating: "They (the board) said we know we don't have the money that Celtic has for the moment.
"It was quite an old squad. So we know we're going to need four, five, maybe six transfer windows to gain money and to close this gap with Celtic.
"And it starts with getting young players in, develop them, make them better and sell them to build the club again where it should be.
"The board was afraid to say these things towards the fans because they were already very angry about the stadium issue. I was the only one speaking in the club because there was nobody any more."

'We had a good group, we had Luis Garcia, Chris Samba, Gabby Agbonlahor, Craig Gardner and a few others.
