2027 Motocross of Nations to be hosted in the Netherlands
The TT Circuit Assen in the Drenthe region of the Netherlands will host the 80th edition of the Motocross of Nations (MXoN), marking the 10th time the event has been held on Dutch soil, according to an announcement made by Infront Moto, the promoter of the international race. The first race of the iconic series was raced at Wassenaar in 1947, with Great Britain victorious.
'We are proud to bring the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations back to Assen in 2027,' said David Luongo, CEO of Infront Moto. 'The previous edition at this legendary venue left a lasting impression on fans and teams alike, and the Netherlands has always played a key role in the history of our sport.
'Hosting the 80th edition of this iconic event at such an iconic circuit is the perfect combination.'
Assen most recently hosted the MXoN when the home team of Jeffrey Herlings, Calvin Vlaanderen, and Glenn Coldenhoff won the event on a muddy track in 2019. The United States team finished sixth that year.
The circuit will be built on top of the tarmac of the circuit's final corners and pit lane complex, with the local area's sand being an integral part of the design.

JUNEAU, Alaska — A salvage team is expected to arrive early next week at the scene of a cargo ship that was carrying about 3,000 vehicles to Mexico when it caught fire in waters off Alaska's Aleutian island chain. A tug carrying salvage specialists and special equipment is expected to arrive at the location of the Morning Midas around Monday, the ship's management company, London-based Zodiac Maritime, said Thursday. The Coast Guard has said it received a distress alert around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday about a fire aboard the Morning Midas, which was roughly 300 miles southwest of Adak Island. The ship was carrying about 70 fully electric and about 680 hybrid vehicles, the Coast Guard said, noting that the information was preliminary. Adak is about 1,200 miles west of Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. All 22 Morning Midas crew members were uninjured. They were evacuated onto a lifeboat and a nearby merchant vessel rescued them. They remained onboard the rescue vessel Thursday, according to Zodiac Maritime. The 600-foot Morning Midas was built in 2006 and sails under a Liberian flag. The car and truck carrier left Yantai, China, on May 26, according to the industry site It was headed to a major Pacific port in Mexico. A Dutch safety board in a recent report called for improving emergency response on North Sea shipping routes after a deadly 2023 fire aboard a freighter that was carrying 3,000 automobiles, including nearly 500 electric vehicles, from Germany to Singapore. HLN are reporting that Antwerp's now former head coach Andries Ulderink is set to move to the Bundesliga. According to the Belgian paper, Ulderink is set to become part of the coaching set up under Erik Ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen. Former Ajax and Manchester United head coach Ten Hag took over at the club following Xabi Alonso's departure to Real Madrid. Since leaving Antwerp, Ulderink has been helping at Cape Town City.
