UAE's Dh750-million Emirates Road project to ease traffic, cut travel time
Aimed at boosting road capacity, easing traffic congestion, and reducing travel time by 45 per cent, the project is expected to be completed in two years.
The road will be widened from three to five lanes in each direction on the 25-km stretch to help reduce traffic congestion. This development is part of the UAE's national plan to improve the federal road network and support economic growth.
The Ministry emphasised that the project reflects the country's commitment to building a smart and resilient transportation system that meets the needs of a rapidly growing population and economy.

Egypt: President El-Sisi Reviews Progress of Transport, Industry, and Infrastructure Projects
Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, and Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly. The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, said President El-Sisi was briefed during the meeting on the implementation status of projects under the Ministry of Transport and Industry, particularly those related to the railway system. This included Al-Arish –Taba railway line and the completion of Bir El-Abd–Al-Arish railway line projects that are expected to contribute significantly to the development of the Sinai Peninsula and to the establishment of a logistical corridor linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. The meeting also addressed updates on the development of seaports, given their pivotal role in the national development agenda. In this regard, the implementation progress of several key ports was reviewed, including Ras Sedr Port, Gargoub Port, Abu Qir Port, the Grand Port of Alexandria, the new El-Max Port, the continued development of Sokhna Port, the establishment of Taba Seaport, and ongoing development at Damietta Port. The meeting further covered the progress in constructing the fourth metro line in Cairo and the high-speed electric train project. Additionally, efforts to develop and enhance industrial zones in Wadi Al-Saririya and Al-Motahhara in Minya Governorate, and northern Fayoum in Fayoum Governorate, were discussed. These initiatives fall within the broader framework of promoting industrial development in Upper Egypt and creating more job opportunities for local residents, especially in labor-intensive industries such as textiles and ready-made garments. President El-Sisi emphasized the need to complete all projects according to their specified timelines. The President gave directives to continue efforts to accelerate the implementation of integrated developmental logistical corridors that link production areas to the developing seaports, transforming them into world-class, high-capacity hubs. This integration with Egypt's modern transportation network including roads, highways, and railways is vital for positioning Egypt as a global center for trade and logistics. UAE: Visa waiver for some Pakistani passport holders comes into effect at all airports
The UAE and Pakistan have activated a visa waiver for diplomatic and official passport holders, said Ishaq Dar, deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Pakistan. In a statement on social media platform X, Dar said he met Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs earlier this week, where he was informed that the visa waiver has come into effect from July 25, 2025. The two countries signed a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passports in the last week of July during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) in Abu Dhabi. "In my meeting at Abu Dhabi on June 24, 2025, with my brother Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we agreed mutual visa waivers on diplomatic and official passports between our two brotherly countries and we both signed a Memorandum of Understanding to make this arrangement effective and operative after 30 days of the signing of the said MoU. "I am pleased to confirm that I have been informed by the UAE authorities that the visa waiver for diplomatic and official Pakistani passports entering the UAE has been activated, effective July 25, 2025, at all UAE airports,' Dar said. On the reciprocal basis, he added that similar arrangements have also been activated for UAE nationals at all Pakistani airports. The UAE and Pakistan have close diplomatic, cultural and trade ties. There are over 1.7 million Pakistanis living and working in the UAE. In addition, hundreds of thousands of tourists from Pakistan visit the Gulf country every year. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has visited the UAE numerous times ever since he took office. Importantly, this waiver is only for diplomatic and official passport holders and it is not applicable for ordinary passports.
