Roger Federer – ‘Enough with the golf already…no seriously, I'd love to start playing like two-three times a week and get myself back on an exhibition court'

The lure of the Wimbledon grass is irresistible and it got tennis' enduring emperor Roger Federer blurting out that he needed to drop golf for a while, and return to tennis, perhaps on exhibition courts. In a conversation with TNT Sports, Federer said he's eager to play exhibition matches, admitting he's grown tired of golf and wants to entertain fans with his tennis again. 'Honestly I'd love to play some more tennis again. Enough with the golf already for a moment now, I've played so much,' he told TNT Sports about how he had admittedly grown tired of golf and wanted to entertain fans with his tennis again. 'But no seriously, I'd love to start playing like two-three times a week again and hopefully, get myself back on an exhibition court. Maybe fill up a few nice stadiums around the world,' Federer told TNT Sports at Wimbledon. Joe Root, Jimmy Anderson and Roger Federer are in the Royal Box at @Wimbledon 🫡 — England's Barmy Army 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🎺 (@TheBarmyArmy) July 7, 2025 On Monday he was back in the Royal Box to watch Novak Djokovic play Alex de Minaur in the fourth round. Federer and his wife, Mirka, returned to Wimbledon, and were seated next to Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester. He would also greet Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as English Test great Joe Root. It is said that Federer who is close to the royal family and even gave Prince George a tennis lesson at Kate and William's Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, had earlier said, 'His mum has always enjoyed tennis. I hope he'll stay the same in a few years' time and this is not just an in-the-moment situation.' The Duchess of Gloucester is the Honorary President of the Lawn Tennis Association, Britain's official tennis body, last 25 years. Federer sported a camelot blue suit and shades with his Wimbledon member's badge, as the crowd broke into prolonged applause. Mirka wore an elegant white ensemble. The invitation-only seats also had King Frederik X of Denmark and comedian Michael McIntye. In the oncourt interview, Djokovic too would talk of the impending future or rather how he's too busy living it to think about it. 'I don't pause to reflect, to be honest. I don't have time,' Djokovic said. 'I would like to. But I think that's going to come probably when I set the racquet aside and then sip margarita on the beach with Federer and Nadal and just reflect on our rivalry and everything.'
