Deals: Nothing Phone (3) has a discount from the get-go, plus some better looking alternatives
The Nothing Phone (3), the 512GB model specifically, is already discounted by $100. You can think of this as a free storage upgrade. Note that the phone is still on pre-order and will only start shipping on July 15.
The Phone (3) features a 6.67' 1260p+ 120Hz OLED display, not an LTPO panel, and is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. It has four 50MP cameras, including a large 1/1.3' sensor in the main and a small 1/2.75' sensor in the 3x periscope. The ultra-wide and selfie cameras are also 50MP. The international model comes with a 5,150mAh battery with 65W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge had its first major discount last week and is at around the same price right now (it went up $30). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so we leave that to you. But we will say that this one is thin (5.8mm) and light (163g). Battery life from the 3,900mAh cell is predictably nothing special, but it's not too bad either.
The 6.7' display has 1440p+ resolution and is an LTPO panel, befitting a flagship device. And the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy offers flagship performance. The 200MP main camera is responsible for zooming in and it does okay at 2x. There's also a 12MP ultra-wide.
If the $200 gap between the Nothing and Edge seems too big, the Samsung Galaxy S25+ is cheaper. It's thicker (7.3mm) and heavier (190g) than the Edge, but it's still a lot thinner and lighter than the Nothing Phone (9mm and 218g).
The display is again a 6.7' 1440p+ LTPO panel, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is the same overclocked 'for Galaxy' model as the Edge and you get 1,000mAh more in the battery. The main camera is only 50MP, but you get a dedicated tele lens with this one – a 10MP 3x/67mm module. Samsung Galaxy S25+ $200 off

The OnePlus 13 carries a modest discount at the moment – we've seen bigger discounts, though they are rare. This phone also has a 1440p+ LTPO display, a 6.82' OLED panel. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is the base chip and is still a good deal faster than the 8s Gen 4.
The triple 50MP camera on the back of this one has a 1/1.43' main sensor and a bigger 1/1.95' inside the 3x/73mm periscope module. The battery is practically huge at 6,000mAh and super fast with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. OnePlus 13 $50 off

OnePlus 13R discounts are even rarer, however, this model is well worth keeping an eye on. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 may be one gen older, but it is faster than the 8s Gen 4 by a small margin. And the 6.78' 1264p+ display is an LTPO panel, unlike the Nothing.
The 50+50+8MP is short on zoom (2x/47mm) and the ultra-wide has a lower resolution sensor. The battery is still huge at 6,000mAh, though it loses wireless charging (it still has 80W wired charging). The last thing to mention is the relatively low water resistance with an IP65 rating (vs. IP68 on the Nothing). Still, the 13R is more of a mid-ranger and doesn't pretend to be a flagship. As a reminder, Amazon Prime Day starts next week and will run for four days (July 8-11). You can already score some early Prime deals – it goes without saying that you need an active Prime subscription, but see if you can get the 1-month free trial.
The Amazon Fire Max 11 is a great tablet for streaming and light work. It has a good quality 11' IPS LCD and stereo speakers. Storage is expandable, but you may want to pick the 128GB model anyway – for $50 more you get double the storage and no lockscreen ads (it costs $15 to remove the ads on the 64GB model).
The Amazon Fire HD 10 is dirt cheap – we don't mean that in a bad way, when else have you seen a 10.1' tablet under $100? The storage upgrade is a no-brainer on this one (it's only $10), though note that it doesn't remove the ads – that's a $15 extra.
There's also the Amazon Fire HD 8. It's more portable and the 32GB variant is cheaper. Plus, the 64GB model has a bit more RAM (4GB vs. 3GB), but it costs $5 more than the larger Fire HD 10 64GB.
This was just the appetizer, we will dive into the Amazon Prime Day deals next week.

Deals: the Poco F7, F7 Pro and F7 Ultra are on sale
Xiaomi's site in the Netherlands still offers Early Bird discounts on the Poco F7. After adding it to the cart, the price falls to €384 thanks to a €15 discount. You can find it here – it comes with a free 120W charger, free Xiaomi Smart Band 10 and a choice between a free Xiaomi Sound Outdoor 30W Bluetooth speaker or Redmi Buds 5 Pro. Amazon sells it at a slightly lower price, although without the freebies. The Poco F7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 – the same chipset used in the Nothing Phone (3), which will become available soon. The F7 has a bigger 6.83' OLED display and a higher capacity 6,500mAh battery. Its cameras are fairly basic, however, with a 50MP main (1/1.95') and 8MP ultra-wide. Of course, the Nothing starts at €800 – double the price of the F7. We will talk about Nothing more in the coming weeks, but the Poco F7 Ultra is a more direct competitor – and can be had for as little as €640. It is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 5,300mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. The camera setup includes a 50MP main (1/1.55'), 50MP 2.5x/60mm telephoto (1/2.76') and a 32MP ultra-wide. The middle ground is the Poco F7 Pro. That one also has a faster chipset – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 beats the 8s Gen 4 by a small margin – and a sharper 1440p+ display (the Nothing Phone (3) has a 1260p+ panel). The 6,000mAh battery is bigger, but it only offers 90W wired charging. And the camera is similar to that of the vanilla F7, save for the bigger sensor in the main (50MP 1/1.55'). The Poco X7 Pro is part of the more affordable series, but its Dimensity 8400 Ultra performs close to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Again, you're looking at pretty basic cameras (50MP 1/1.95' main, 8MP ultra-wide) and a large battery (6,000mAh, 90W wired-only charging). We may get a commission from qualifying sales.

Sony stops selling the Xperia 1 VII to fix some issues
Vlad, 04 July 2025 Sony unveiled the Xperia 1 VII, its latest flagship smartphone, in May, and it's already been available in Japan for a while now. However, today the company has announced that it's temporarily suspending shipments and sales of the device in its home market. This is due to many reports of Xperia 1 VII units turning off by themselves, randomly rebooting, and even not turning on. Obviously, any one of those three is a huge problem individually, but apparently all of them are currently happening in the wild. To those who have an Xperia 1 VII that won't turn on, Sony suggests holding both the power button and volume up button for about 20 seconds to recover it, and then applying the latest software update. If that doesn't help, then Sony is advising people to contact its support staff. Sony Xperia 1 VII 5G 256GB 12GB RAM £ 1,399.00 Detailed instructions for the software update procedure are provided at the Source linked below. Interestingly, while Sony implies that the latest update will fix the issues, it also, in the same page, says that it's still investigating what's causing them. So maybe the software update is more of a precautionary thing, and not an actual solution. We'll let you know how this situation develops. Thanks for the tip, Josip! Source (in Japanese)

Rumored iPhone 17 Air color to continue modern trend of dull shades
*Image credit — Fpt. Apple's new flagship model this year — the super slim iPhone 17 Air — is rumored to be continuing the trend of colors that, ironically enough, lack any color. Though this isn't a confirmed report just yet, there is a possibility ( translated source ) that the Air will introduce a new blue color unlike anything that Apple has used isn't necessarily a good thing, as the rumor claims that the color is such a light shade of blue that, under certain lighting conditions, it basically appears as white. This is similar to certain other modern color options for smartphones — like 'Silverblue' for the Galaxy S25 Ultra — that don't commit too hard to a unique shade. Fortunately, according to other reports, at least the base model iPhone 17 may be introducing a new color that isn't just a different shade of black or white. The base model iPhone 17 will have purple as an option, and it looks better than previous purple shades on the iPhone 14. It's not as royal as the purple as the iPhone 12, however, which is a bummer. Ultramarine on the iPhone 16 was a brilliant shade of blue, in my opinion. | Video credit — Apple Blue or not, there are a few other problems haunting Apple when it comes to the Air. The biggest one for now seems to be the fact that iPhone 17 Air displays are cracking, as the phone requires a much thinner LTPO OLED panel than usual. Yep, an LTPO OLED panel, because Apple is finally ditching 60 Hz and bringing all of its flagship phones up to modern standards. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge — the main rival to the iPhone 17 Air — suffers from the same dull color problem. It comes in three shades — Titanium Jet Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Icy Blue — and the last two are basically just different shades of white. If you were to choose between the two phones solely based on color choices, then you couldn't go wrong either way. The Air is expected to replace the Plus models, and as such will be unveiled alongside the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup later this year. If it fails to sell like the Edge remains to be seen, though I think we can all tell where the iPhone 17 Air is headed. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
