Details: Atlético Madrid table new offer for Barcelona star

Yahoo24-02-2025

The brass at Atlético Madrid have sent a new bid to La Liga rivals Barcelona, to take over permanent ownership of Clément Lenglet.
That's according to , who have on Monday provided a fresh insight into the ongoing negotiations between the two clubs.
Defender Lenglet of course sealed a fresh departure from Barcelona last summer.
Deemed surplus to requirements by Hansi Flick and co, the Frenchman went on to pen terms with the aforementioned Atlético, on loan for the duration of the campaign.
And, in the time since, Lenglet has gone on to rebuild his reputation in impressive fashion.
After a shaky start to life in Madrid, hampered by fitness problems, recent weeks have seen the 29-year-old establish himself as an important figure in Diego Simeone's backline.
All told, Lenglet has been afforded 20 starts across all competitions, chipping in with a pair of goals along the way.
As much has long convinced the Atléti board to attempt to make the former Sevilla man's arrival a permanent one this summer.
And as alluded to above, the Rojiblancos recently sent a fresh proposal towards precisely that the way of Barcelona.
As per a report from Sport:
'The latest red-and-white offer is around five million euros, including fixed bonuses and variables.'
Deco and the Barcelona transfer team, however, rejected as much, continuing to demand an altogether more considerable sum in the region of €10 million.
The 'logical outcome' is therefore that an agreement is ultimately struck for around €7-8 million.

Barcelona make formal approach to Liverpool for Luis Diaz

Barcelona have made Liverpool winger Luis Diaz their top priority for this summer, with Director of Football Deco maintaining interest in the Colombia international from last summer. Hansi Flick and Deco seemingly believe that he would be a way of strengthening their forward line, and now Barcelona are taking steps to make the deal happen. On Wednesday it was revealed that Liverpool were 'perplexed' by all of the stories emerging about Diaz, having not heard from the player himself, and from Barcelona. However that situation has now changed, according to a report from The Athletic, who say that the Catalan giants have now been in contact with Liverpool. Liverpool reject Luis Diaz approach from Barcelona Their information is that on Wednesday, Barcelona made formal contact with Liverpool regarding Diaz. And were met with an unequivocal response: Diaz is not for sale. They have told Deco that they have no intention of selling a player in Arne Slot's plans for next season. Image via Pere Puntí / Propias Diaz has also received interest from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, and Manchester City last summer. They say that the Saudi pursuit of Bruno Fernandes has 'helped to establish a market value' for Diaz. The same outlet previously noted that Al-Hilal were willing to pay €95m for Fernandes. Contract issues with Luis Diaz Perhaps the chink of light from under the door that has been slammed shut on Barcelona comes from Diaz's contract situation. The 28-year-old has just two years left on his deal, and the report notes that there has been no progress in talks over new one. Nevertheless, David Ornstein has claimed Liverpool are willing to risk losing Diaz as a free agent down the line unless a bid changes their mind. The 'noise' from Barcelona It is no secret that Diaz is one of Barcelona's top targets, and Deco has admitted that he 'likes' Diaz publicly. The line in Catalonia has been that Diaz wants to join the club, and feels his time at Liverpool is over, with Barcelona feeling they can get a deal done for around €70m.

Liverpool reject Barcelona approach for Luis Diaz

Liverpool have turned down an approach from Barcelona for Luis Diaz and have insisted the winger is not for sale. Barcelona contacted Liverpool to discuss a deal for Diaz on Wednesday but their enquiry has been met with a strong response. Diaz has been linked with an exit having failed to agree terms on an extension to his contract, which runs until 2027. The expected arrival of Florian Wirtz will also increase competition for places but Liverpool have insisted that Diaz remains a part of the club's plans for next season. Advertisement The Colombia international was a key part of Liverpool's title-winning side and scored 17 goals in all competitions in 2024/25. Barcelona had earmarked Diaz for their left-wing role, having failed in an approach to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao last summer. The Athletic are reporting that the Spanish champions have been informed that Diaz is not for sale. Saudi Pro League sides had also been keen on a deal for Diaz, though the winger has shown no interest in wanting to leave Anfield. Despite the exit of Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this summer and Ibrahima Konate's uncertain contract situation, Liverpool feel the right move is to 'maximise' Diaz's performance value, over his financial worth. There is a feeling within the Liverpool board that it would be difficult to find a replacement of similar quality, unless the bid for Diaz is too good to refuse. Atletico Madrid press for Milan's Theo Hernandez amidst Al-Hilal interest

La Liga outfits Atletico Madrid are pressing to sign Milan left-back Theo Hernandez as Al-Hilal remain a threat. According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, Atletico Madrid have decided not to bow down to Saudi Arabian competition as they are actively negotiating with Milan for Theo Hernandez. Advertisement There is still a huge gap to be bridged by the Spanish club as their undisclosed offer price is worth much less than the Rossoneri's demands. It is of no surprise that Milan have increased their asking price following the introduction of Al-Hilal as a potential destination for Hernandez. Milan will not accept any players in exchange and are looking to get only cash to ease their finances from the Frenchman's sale. Sporting director Igli Tare is working to get the maximum value for their star player after selling Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City for a sizeable package. Hernandez prefers to move to Atletico Madrid and his reluctance to go to Saudi Arabia could appear as an advantage for Los Colchoneros. Trambak Bhattacherjee | GIFN
