Auburn is working to rebuild its 2026 class after losing several key pledges.
Hugh Freeze and his staff received good news on Tuesday when New Zealand offensive tackle Nikau Hepi announced his commitment to the program shortly after receiving an offer at a recent camp. Auburn's good fortune could continue next week as a four-star tight end lists Auburn as a finalist.
JC Anderson, a four-star tight end from Mt. Zion, Illinois, revealed this week that he will announce his commitment on Tuesday, July 1, and that Auburn remains in the running alongside Ole Miss and Illinois.
Those three schools were the only ones that Anderson took official visits to, with his visit to Auburn taking place during the weekend of June 6. While there, Anderson shared the content of his conversation with tight ends coach Ben Aigamaua, and what pitch he received from the Tigers with Auburn Undercover.
"(Augamaua has) been showing me how they're going to use me from the beginning. He's all about the core values of the family of Auburn and how he's going to not only grow me as a player, but as a man and as a future husband and father too," Anderson said via Auburn Undercover. "That hits deep. He's a great dude and he knows me pretty well and I know him pretty well."
Now that Auburn is a finalist, where do they stand with Anderson ahead of next week's big day? 247Sports insider David Johnson has logged the only crystal ball prediction for Anderson, choosing Ole Miss on June 24. On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine also favors Ole Miss, giving Lane Kiffin and the Rebels an 87.5% chance to land him. Illinois follows Ole Miss at 4.8%, with Auburn next at 1.9%.
Anderson is viewed as Auburn's last chance to grab a 2026 tight end. Auburn's other targets, Xavier Tiller and Kaiden Prothro, have moved on from Auburn after Tiller committed to Florida State and Prothro left Auburn off his top-three list. The Tigers signed Ryan Ghea and Hollis Davidson during the 2025 cycle, and view those players as the future of the position.

Rivals Five-Star: Five committed prospects on flip watch

Shane Beamer chats with Nicole Auerbach about his father — College Football Hall of Famer, Frank Beamer — breaking down the impact the legendary coach has had on the South Carolina football program. FIVE-STAR: @JohnGarcia_Jr and @samspiegs recap who won MVP, who impressed and MORE👀🏆 — Rivals (@Rivals) June 24, 2025 INDIANAPOLIS - The Rivals Five-Star has wrapped up but after talking to numerous players and getting a sense on a lot of recruitments, here are five players who could be on flip watch as June wraps up: MORE FROM INDY: Highlights and analysis | Teams that should be pleased | Gorney Awards | Biggest surprises RECRUITING INTEL: Mid-South | Florida | West | Southeast | Midwest RIVALS FIVE-STAR MEDIA DAY: All the news, notes and interviews | The All-Lobby Team | How solid are the commitments? | Roster RIVALS FIVE-STAR INTERVIEWS: Jaden O'Neal | Trae Taylor | Chase Calicut | Samu Moala | Jake Kreul | Felix Ojo | Peyton Houston | CJ Sadler | Richard Wesley | JaReylan McCoy | Carter Scruggs | Nolan Wilson | Carson Sneed | Derrek Cooper | Devin Carter | Jayden Wade | Joel Wyatt | Kaden Henderson | Nick Abrams It would be a massive surprise if Brown backs off his Ohio State pledge for so many reasons. The 2027 five-star receiver is from Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne. He loves position coach Brian Hartline. Brown loves how the Buckeyes have developed so many receivers and have such a great history at the position. But Tennessee is sending mail to Brown every day and the coaching staff is working hard to not only stay involved in his recruitment but to flip him at some point as well. Others will make a move because Brown is so talented but if Hartline stays in Columbus then Brown probably stays committed. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT As programs work to finalize their quarterback situation, there are a lot of moving parts and Cherry is being contacted by some big guns. The four-star quarterback from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School has been committed to Louisville since January but when LSU missed on Bowe Bentley, the Tigers reached out and gauged interest with Cherry. Auburn has also been in the mix as the Tigers figure out the situation with Landon Duckworth (who has Auburn and South Carolina as his two favorites) so Cherry could have some options moving forward and the word is he's listening. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH LOUISVILLE FANS AT The four-star cornerback from Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin has been committed to Michigan since last July but Jennings has been taking visits and seeing what else is out there especially through June. The word coming out of Rivals Five-Star is that Miami would be the biggest threat to flip Jennings if he's looking to stay closer to home. Even through all his visits, Jennings hasn't backed off his pledge yet and while Florida, Georgia and others could be in the mix, the Hurricanes would be the one to watch. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MICHIGAN FANS AT It's no secret that while Sneed has stayed committed to Tennessee, the four-star tight end from Nashville (Tenn.) Donelson Christian Academy has heavily considered other programs. Ole Miss and North Carolina will be two to monitor but the biggest threat to the Volunteers would be Florida. Sneed loved his visit to Gainesville and the plan coach Billy Napier laid out for the four-star tight end as there's some concern that Tennessee doesn't throw to its tight ends enough. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TENNESSEE FANS AT Tofi committed to Cal in early June and it was a big win for the Golden Bears since Oregon was the biggest threat throughout his recruitment. There are reasons to believe the four-star offensive tackle from San Francisco (Calif.) Riordan sticks with Cal as well since he loves the Polynesian culture on the coaching staff and his brother plays in Berkeley, too. But only a couple weeks after his pledge to Cal, Tofi took a visit to Oregon as the Ducks have not backed down. He also showed up to Rivals Five-Star wearing an Oregon t-shirt and said over the next few weeks he plans to make a final decision in his recruitment so the Ducks are clearly a threat. Red Sox Pushed To Trade Alex Bregman To Loaded AL Powerhouse

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. There have been a lot of rumors and speculation growing about the potential that the Boston Red Sox will shop their star third baseman, Alex Bregman, at the trade deadline. With Bregman reportedly willing to negotiate a contract extension, this idea doesn't make too much sense, but there's still a possibility the Red Sox want to cut ties with him to save some money and add valuable prospects. FanSided's Zachary Rotman recently urged the Detroit Tigers to pursue a trade for Bregman if the Red Sox decide to shop him this season. BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - MAY 16: A detailed shot of the jersey of Alex Bregman #2 of the Boston Red Sox as he stands for the National Anthem before a game against the Atlanta Braves at... BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - MAY 16: A detailed shot of the jersey of Alex Bregman #2 of the Boston Red Sox as he stands for the National Anthem before a game against the Atlanta Braves at Fenway Park on May 16, 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts. More Maddie Malhotra/Boston"Still, while the Tigers probably won't pursue Bregman after being spurned, they should. They, much like the Yankees, are left-handed heavy," Rotman wrote. "Adding Bregman's bat would allow the Tigers to comfortably split up lefty sluggers Kerry Carpenter and Riley Greene, and would give a young team a battle-tested veteran to lean on in their postseason push. "Bregman would fit perfectly while reuniting with former manager A.J. Hinch. It'd be risky, knowing that Bregman can opt out in a few months if he truly doesn't want to be there, but adding a player of Bregman's caliber could be the difference in a pennant race. The Tigers should be all-in. If Bregman is available, there's a good chance they can't do any better." At the end of the day, I don't think the Red Sox should shop Bregman, but if they decide to, a deal to the Tigers would make sense. Detroit was one of the top suitors for Bregman in free agency. A few months later, the Tigers are even better than expected and could still use the help at the hot corner. Adding Bregman to this Tigers roster would take it over the top. Detroit could go from a streaking team to a legit World Series contender in one move. More MLB: MLB Insider Calls Cubs 'Best Fit' In Trade For $66 Million Slugger

Texas A&M football lands massive commitment from four-star offensive tackle

Let's have a day up front 🙌Welcome to Aggieland, @zadenkrempin 👍 The massive day continues for the big guys up front, as Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing landed a commitment from the program's second four-star linemen of the 2026 recruiting cycle. Head coach Mike Elko hit the gold mine in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as 6-foot-5 and 280-pound offensive tackle Zaden Krempin pinned College Station as his next stomping ground on Wednesday afternoon. The standout lineman from Prosper High School has formulated a reputation for being one of the most dominant players in the country, and he will now look to further establish himself with the Aggies. On tape, it does not take long to find Krempin among the carnage on the offensive line. Chances are that you will likely witness him driving opposing players into the dirt, which has become a standard for the No. 19 IOL in the country, per 247 Sports Player Rankings. His athleticism and technical ability are two of his strongest attributes that make him one of the most dangerous offensive linemen in his class. Krempin received offers from 53 schools, including the likes of storied and elite programs like Michigan, Texas, LSU and Alabama, just to name a few. Above all those, he chose Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies. Many believed he narrowed his choices down to the Wolverines, Longhorns and Tigers, but it was Cushing and company that got the nod for the second offensive linemen commitment of the day. His announcement to stay in Texas and play for the Maroon and White marks the 21st commit of the 2026 cycle for Elko. While the program currently ranks as the No. 2 recruiting class according to media outlets like On3 Sports and 247 Sports, the continuous onslaught of commitments could very well propel Texas A&M to the No. 1 spot in the rankings soon.
