APSPDCL assures uninterrupted power supply to Sri City
He held a review meeting on Friday with the officials on power supply to Sri City.
Speaking on the occasion, he informed that the APSPDCL is working hard to provide 24-hour power supply to the industries in line with the instructions of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The maintenance work of breakers to be carried out regularly for un-interrupted power supply, adding that installing new relays to prevent power outages.
He said that if the internal power problems within the industry are resolved from time to time, there will be an opportunity to prevent the interruptions completely.
He said that by bringing the issue of internal power problems to the attention of SPDCL officials, there will be an opportunity to resolve the problems quickly.
APSPDCL Director (Technical) K Guravaiah, Chief General Manager DS Varakumar, Superintendent Engineer P Surendra Naidu, Divisional Engineers N Devashiravadam, P Ravi Kumar, APTransco Director JV Rao, Chief Engineer DV Kishore Kumar, Superintendent Engineer Karunakar, Sri City General Manager D Narasimha Reddy were present.

Bhatti, jupally open power substation in remote village
Wanaparthy: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka along with Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and MP Mallu Ravi inaugurated a newly constructed 33/11 kV power substation at a cost of Rs 2.2 crore in Veltoor village of Chinnambavi mandal on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the government's mission is to provide quality and uninterrupted power to every remote area in Telangana. He also announced foundation stone-laying ceremonies in Kollapur for a new 132/33 kV substation in Panagal mandal at a cost of Rs 49.86 crore, and for a new 33/11 kV substation in Jammapur village of Panagal mandal at a cost of Rs 2.02 crore. He said that once the 132/33 kV substation in Panagal mandal is completed and operational, it can be connected to 15 new 33/11 kV substations. Additionally, foundation stones will be laid in Kollapur for four more substations in Kodair mandal's Mailaram, Machupalli, Paspula villages, and Vennacharla and Marikal villages in Peddakothapally mandal of Nagarkurnool district. The newly established 33/11 kV substation in Veltoor village, built at a cost of Rs 2.2 crore, will supply power through three feeders to support 950 borewells and 600 domestic connections. Six villages Veltoor, Chinna Mahadev, Ayyavaripalli, Kaluru, Venkatampalli, and Solipur will receive quality three-phase electricity under these feeders, resolving the power supply issues for both households and agricultural lands in those areas. Planning Commission Vice-Chairman G Chinna Reddy, SPDCL CMD Musharraf Ali Faruqui, Wanaparthy MLA Thudi Megha Reddy, Nagarkurnool MLA Kuchukulla Rajesh Reddy, and DCCB Chairman Mamillapalli Vishnu Vardhan Reddy were also present at the inauguration.

Kuppam set to become fully solar-powered under new green energy push
Tirupati: As part of promoting green energy, the Andhra Pradesh government has completed a pilot solar power project in Nadimur village of Kuppam constituency, represented by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Following its success, plans are underway to expand the initiative across the entire constituency, covering households, agricultural connections, and government buildings. The pilot, launched on January 6, 2025, was implemented under the Central government's PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana scheme in collaboration with APSPDCL and Kuppam RESCO. As part of the project, rooftop solar panels were installed on 100 houses in Nadimuru. Officials estimate that the village is now generating around 15,000 units of electricity, with excess power being fed back into the grid through bi-directional meters. Building on this model, authorities are now extending the solar service to 7,489 identified SC/ST connections across the constituency, for which tenders have already been invited. These beneficiaries will receive connections free of cost. In addition, solarisation of 34,000 agricultural service connections falling under 126 rural feeders is also in progress. The initiative also covers around 43,000 service connections belonging to BC, OBC, and OC categories. The government has announced subsidies of Rs 30,000 for 1 KW systems, Rs 60,000 for 2 KW, and RS 78,000 for 3 KW rooftop solar panels. For the remaining cost, financial assistance will be provided through the Velugu project and bank loans. For instance, the consumer contribution of Rs 40,000 for a 1 KW system can be split into Rs 20,000 from a bank loan and Rs 20,000 from women's self-help group loans. The system uses two-way meters to measure both consumption and excess generation. Any unused power is transferred back to the RESCO, and the consumer receives billing credits accordingly. A 1 KW system is expected to generate about 120 units of electricity per month, which could reduce a typical electricity bill from RS 1,000 to Rs 338, resulting in annual savings of approximately Rs 8,000. To facilitate the expansion, the government has begun collecting consent forms from households in all four mandals of Kuppam. Each mandal is targeting 600 homes in the initial phase. The consent process is being supported by 5,661 women self-help groups under the Velugu programme, involving over 56,000 members. Village Organisation leaders and community coordinators are creating awareness and encouraging residents to adopt solar power. Officials noted that while the high upfront cost of rooftop systems has made some households hesitant, the combination of subsidies and financing options is expected to improve participation. The project aims to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources while offering long-term savings for residents. Authorities said they are working to implement the Chief Minister's vision of making Kuppam a fully solar-powered constituency.

Power utilities prepared to meet any demand for energy this Kharif season: Principal Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal
HYDERABAD The power utilities of the State are all prepared to handle the growing demand for energy this Kharif season and the peak demand in July has registered over 14% increase this year compared to last year, Principal Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal said. Speaking during a virtual meet with authorities of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) led by its Chairman and Managing Director Md. Musharraf Farooqui on Monday, Mr. Mittal asked the authorities, engineers and field staff of the power utilities to remain alert to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all sectors. Mr. Mittal stated that the peak demand in July last year was recorded at 13,541 megawatt on July 31. This year it was 15,443 MW on July 16 with an increase of 14.05%. The farming community was using pump-sets widely with the availability of round-the-clock free power to irrigate the crops, leading to high energy demand even during the monsoon season. The SPDCL officials explained to the Principal Secretary that energy demand was also increasing heavily in the Greater Hyderabad limits with industrial, commercial and domestic consumption going up. They stated that there was a growth of nearly 31% peak demand in Greater Hyderabad on July 21 compared to the same day last. Similarly, the energy consumption too was up by over 35% on the same this year, compared to last year. Availability of groundwater due to good rains and paddy transplantation gaining pace over the next 2-3 weeks was expected to push up the energy demand further, Mr. Mittal said. The intra-day peak demand was over 15,000 MW on three days, over 14,000 MW on one day and over 13,000 MW on seven days as on July 27 this year.
