Indian anime fans are in for a special treat as Gachiakuta, the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Kei Urana's manga, is set to premiere in India before its official global release.
Crunchyroll, in a major push to connect with the booming anime audience in India, has announced an exclusive advance screening of the series in Mumbai on July 4. This premiere is part of a multi-country rollout across 15 regions, building anticipation for what's being hailed as one of the biggest anime blockbusters of the year.
Special screening event of Gachiakuta in India
The Indian screening will take place at PVR Icon, Andheri, Mumbai, on July 4 at 6:00 PM IST—two days ahead of its global launch.
This event aligns with similar premieres in countries like France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and Brazil. Simultaneously, Gachiakuta will also be showcased at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, where fans will be treated to a two-episode screening and a creator panel featuring manga artist Kei Urana, director Hideyoshi Andou, and producer Naoki Amano.
Set in a dystopian world drenched in graffiti and rebellion, Gachiakuta follows Rudo, a wrongly accused outcast exiled into 'The Pit,' a brutal wasteland ruled by monstrous creatures and unforgiving survivors.
Armed with only his will and a pair of gloves gifted by his adoptive father Regto (voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa), Rudo faces terrifying foes, including Jabber (voiced by Yuuki Shin), a ruthless Raider who uses neurotoxin-laced rings.
The anime promises a gritty emotional story filled with intense visuals and high-energy action that's expected to resonate with both seasoned anime fans and newcomers alike.
Details about the global release and streaming in India
Gachiakuta will officially begin streaming globally on Crunchyroll from July 6, 2025, and will be available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu for Indian audiences—allowing fans across the country to enjoy the series in their preferred language from day one.
The anime is directed by Fumihiko Suganuma, with Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man) handling series composition, and Taku Iwasaki (Bungo Stray Dogs) composing the soundtrack.
Adding to the hype, the show's opening theme 'HUGs' by hardcore band Paledusk delivers an explosive soundscape, while the ending theme 'TOMOSHIBI' by DUSTCELL offers a dark and emotional close to each episode. Crunchyroll has also released exclusive behind-the-scenes footage titled 'Behind Gachiakuta', offering fans insight into how the creators merged raw graffiti art with anime storytelling. A new concept video and striking key visual boldly declared, 'Here Comes Gachiakuta,' setting the tone for what's expected to be one of the most powerful anime experiences of the year.

Diljit Dosanjh tries to douse rumours of removal from 'Border 2', drops video from the shoot

Mumbai: Contrary to the previous reports that Diljit Dosanjh has been removed from "Border 2", it looks like the Punjabi actor and singer continues to remain a part of the sequel. Putting the rumor mills to rest, Diljit has shared a video from "Border 2" on his office Instagram handle. As he entered the location, he was welcomed with a loud cheer by the crowd. It seems like Diljit was shooting a song sequence from the forthcoming war drama. He even added the track "Sandese Aate Hai" from the original drama, "Border" in the background. Diljit has recently been facing a lot of backlash for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in "Sardaar Ji 3". It was reported that Diljit has been removed from "Border 2" amidst the row. It was even reported that Punjabi actor Ammy Virk might replace him in the sequel. FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) even wrote a letter to Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and Anurag Singh, urging them to remove Diljit from "Border 2". "The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of actor-singer Mr. Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film Border 2 produced under the banner of JP Films in collaboration with T-Series and directed by Mr. Anurag Singh. By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation," the letter read. Directed by Anurag Singh, "Border 2" stars Sunny Deol, and Varun Dhawan in pivotal roles, along with others. Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series & JP Dutta's J.P. Films, the drama is expected to be based on the 1999 Kargil War. "Border 2" is likely to be released on January 23, 2026.
