Charles' nephew Peter Phillips is joined by his NHS nurse girlfriend Harriet Sperling in Ascot carriage procession for the first time as royals turn out in force

Daily Mail5 hours ago

The Royal Family turned out in force for the first day of Royal Ascot on Tuesday as thousands of revellers kicked off the five-day meet in style.
King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, both fans of racing, arrived in the famous carriage procession - which is marking its 200th anniversary this year - along the Berkshire racecourse.
The monarch appeared in great spirits as he tipped his hat to the crowd and waved, while the Queen looked elegant in a grey dress and hat.
Riding in the first carriage to the tune of the national anthem, they were joined by the Lady Sarah Keswick and Prince Faisal bin Salman Al Saud.
Following right behind them was Princess Anne, Annabel Elliot and the Duke and Duchess of Wellington.
And the royal procession was joined by a very special guest, as Peter Phillips was accompanied in the third carriage by his girlfriend Harriet Sperling after making their debut at Royal Ascot last year.
Peter, who is King Charles's nephew, has been dating Harriet for over a year, after breaking up with his partner of three-years Lindsay Wallace.
And the invitation to join the prestigious procession can be seen as a seal of approval from the King and a very high honour.
In the final carriage were the Lord and Lady Vestey and Henry and Joanna Morton Jack.
Queen Elizabeth II was a passionate owner and breeder of thoroughbreds and had more than 20 Royal Ascot winners during her 70-year reign.
Charles and Camilla have taken on her stable of horses and enjoyed their first Royal Ascot winner in 2023 when their horse Desert Hero triumphed in the King George V Stakes.
The monarch and his wife will be hoping for a winner in the Ascot Stakes when their horse Reaching High, trained by Willie Mullins, takes on other thoroughbreds.
Mullins, reflecting on the thoroughbred's narrow defeat at Leopardstown racecourse in Ireland, said: 'I've been very happy since his first run, he did everything nicely at Leopardstown and if he could run a similar type of race at Ascot I would be very pleased.'
Meanwhile, the royal procession has reached its 200th anniversary this year after it was first held in 1825 during the reign of King George IV.
Royal Ascot, the jewel in the crown of the UK racing calendar, starts today with the Queen Anne Stakes and will run until Saturday.
The prestigious festival was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 after she declared Ascot ideal for 'horses fit for kings' and has today become a major social event as well as a sporting attraction.
Queen Camilla was given a kiss on the cheek as she was greeted by Mike Tindall
Glamorous racegoers pulled out all the sartorial stops as they arrived at Royal Ascot in the sunshine today to kick off the annual celebration in style.
As one of the highlights of the racing calendar, the prestigious festival at the Berkshire racecourse is just as famous for its fashion as it is for its races.
This year, statement hats were the focal point of revellers' eye-popping looks as day one of the annual race meeting got underway.
Dressed to impress, guests wore a variety of show-stopping headpieces as they descended on Ascot for a day of equestrian fun.
Floral prints, modest hemlines and attention-grabbing hats were the order of the day for many, while others looked effortlessly elegant in crisp white dresses and sharp blazers.
Whilst no dress code rules apply in the Windsor Enclosure, although the majority of guests choose to dress up regardless, a strict dress code operates across the Royal and Queen Anne Enclosures.
Hats are a must in both Royal enclosures. Alternatively, a headpiece or 'hatinator' with a minimum base diameter of 4 inches (10cm) is also acceptable.
Dresses must be knee length or longer and forget spaghetti straps - all shoulders must be a minimum width of 1 inch (2.5cm). Strapless, off-the-shoulder and one shoulder items are also banned.
Shorts of any kind are not permitted. But having been included in the dress code since 1971, trouser suits remain a popular choice - although they mustn't be mismatched.
From 2017 onwards, jumpsuits have also been accepted as Ascot worthy, while men must stick to black dress shoes worn with ankle socks, but there are no footwear specifications for women.

Royal Ascot day two: Tips and racecards for tomorrow's racing

After a suitably exciting opening day of Royal Ascot, it is time to draw breath and ready yourself for the second instalment. Day two of the meeting is all about the Prince Of Wales's Stakes (4.20), which pitches some of the best middle-distance horses in the world against one another around Ascot's round course Below, our experts give their selections for every race on the card as well their best bet (Nap) on Wednesday. Check back here once racing kicks-off for results. Royal Ascot day two tips 2.30pm: Queen Mary Stakes (Group Two) Charlie Brooks – Society Kiss broke track record on debut at Ascot. Classy recruit from breeze-up sales. Marcus Armytage – Spicy Marg was impressive on her Newmarket debut despite being the outsider of the field. Still going the right way at home. Marlborough – Trainer Michael Bell was bullish about Spicy Marg before her debut and it was an impressive win in a fast time. 3.05pm: Queen's Vase (Group Two) Charlie Brooks – Asmarani has shaped well over a shorter trip and has plenty of stamina on both sides of his pedigree. Marcus Armytage – From a shrewd Irish outfit who would not be bringing him for the benefit of his health, Carmers won both his starts and we definitely haven't seen the best of him yet. Marlborough – Shackleton was crying out for this sort of stamina test last year. Satisfactory return in May and Aidan O'Brien is stacked in this division. 3.40pm: Duke of Cambridge Stakes (Group Two) Charlie Brooks – Cinderella's Dream was really impressive when she quickened from the back of the field at Newmarket last start. (NAP) Marcus Armytage – It is hard to see a 3lb penalty stopping Cinderella's Dream in her current form. Marlborough – One Look was a filly destined for the top as a two year old and has returned this season threatening to fulfil her potential. 4.20pm: Prince of Wales's Stakes (Group One) Charlie Brooks – Anmaat can turn the tables with Los Angeles on a different track which might suit better. Marcus Armytage – See The Fire put in an extraordinary performance in at York winning by 12 lengths and unless that was a complete fluke she is over-priced here. Marlborough – Los Angeles is a quality colt who likes quick ground and has a great attitude in a finish. There are doubts about some of the others in that regard. 5pm: Royal Hunt Cup (Heritage Handicap) Charlie Brooks – Epictetus ran nicely for new trainer on only run this season. Marcus Armytage – Ancient Rome has been contesting Group races recently and will appreciate the return to a handicap off a reducing mark. A big price for a horse of his ability. Marlborough – Ancient Rome looks well handicapped having been dropped from 110 to 102 since finishing a close second in an Ascot Group Two last Summer. (NAP) 5.35pm: Kensington Palace Stakes Charlie Brooks – Rainbows Edge is a course-and-distance winner and officially top rated. Marcus Armytage – Rainbows Edge is the day's Royal representative. She's lightly raced, still improving and unbeaten over a mile. Marlborough – Unassuming sneaks into the bottom of the weights here having won last week and she will like the fast pace to aim at. 6.10pm: Windsor Castle Stakes (Listed) Charlie Brooks – Azizam should outrun his odds after a sparkling debut at Hamilton. Havanna Grey is a good sire for this race. Marcus Armytage – Tough Critic overcame all sorts of difficulties to win at Keeneland first time out, US horses are often undone by soft ground here but that, at least, won't happen today. Marlborough – This stiff five furlong test looks tailor-made for Shaman Champion who travelled supremely well when winning on debut. Mum explains the exact cosmetic work she's had to look ‘snatched' but people are astonished after clocking her REAL age

A MUM has left people stunned after revealing the full extent of cosmetic work she's had done - while also sharing her real age. Jess Bloom, a 34-year-old nutrition coach and TikTok creator, has been open about her beauty routine, detailing everything she's done to achieve her ' snatched' look. She shared a video on her TikTok page ' jessbloom_ ' and revealed to her 18.1k followers 'everything' she has had done to her face. Starting with the basics, she explains how she's been maintaining HD brows every five to six weeks for years, describing them as a staple part of her routine. She explains that having a fresh set of HD brows makes her feel very 'snatched' in the morning. Jess also swears by her Korean lash lift, which she recently documented on TikTok. As a busy mum, it's her go-to for cutting down on time in the mornings. She explained that she can't be 'bothered' to wear eye makeup, which is why having a lash lift really works for her. Instead, she'll just throw on a bit of tinted moisturiser and blush then she is 'ready to go.' When it comes to skincare, Jess opts for a natural approach, combining red light therapy with good nutrition. She admits she avoids regular facials, saying, 'I'm just a little bit too scared because I'm like, don't fix what's not broken, you know?' Her journey with injectables, however, has been a long one. I'm 30 & have had 4 BBL's - trolls say my bum looks like a wisdom tooth but I don't care about the risks, I want curves Jess first had lip filler back in 2014 at the age of 24, and has had it topped up every couple of years since. But pregnancy brought unexpected challenges. 'My lips just blew up - they were horrific,' she shares. Unable to dissolve the filler while breastfeeding, Jess admits the situation affected her self-esteem and even pushed her to stop breastfeeding earlier than planned. One of my regrets for my wedding was getting Botox six weeks before because I didn't like what it did to my face Jess Bloom Determined to feel her best for her wedding, she documented her journey of dissolving and refilling her lips on TikTok, eventually finding a look she's happier with. As for Botox, Jess has tried it but doesn't plan to continue. She explained that she had it in three areas - forehead, crow's feet, and frown - but 'didn't really like it' on herself. ' One of my regrets for my wedding was getting Botox six weeks before because I didn't like what it did to my face,' she says. Mixed opinions Her video gained 189.8k views and 811 comments after one day of the video being shared. Many rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts - along with some people who 'unfairly' trolled her. One wrote: 'I'm convinced Botox and filler is making people look older. ' A second commented: 'You look so much older than me, I'm the same age.' While another added: 'You look great. 'You're obviously naturally pretty and have great skin and hair but I have to agree with those saying you look older than 34. 'Not sure what it is but I would place you closer to 40.' However, she also received support from others. One wrote: 'Your skin is stunning. I must try a lash lift. I used to get extensions but couldn't be bothered now.' A second addressed some of the negative comments she had received by adding: 'You look gorgeous. 33 here and swear by a lash lift! 2 "Pregnancy was such a hard time for me self esteem wise too. 'Don't feel bad about stopping breastfeeding - happy mum, happy baby! 'Ps. negative comments are from jealous, miserable souls - hope you're taking zero notice.' A third said: 'These comments are wild. Your skin is INSANE! As if you don't even have Botox!!! 'Wouldn't believe it until you moved your forehead. You look unreal girl! 'I'm 35 and can confirm you absolutely look younger and nothing like these horrible, jealous comments are saying. 'Maybe we should send them all the products you use so they don't need to feel jealous and feel better about themselves.' Zara Tindall's Royal Ascot aviator sunglasses are still available to buy

This summer chunky aviator sunglasses reign supreme as the must-have accessory, and Zara Tindall has nailed the trend with her go-to pair at this year's Royal Ascot The first day of Royal Ascot kicked off today and saw plenty of famous faces and royal family members descending on the racecourse for the world-famous event. Amongst the royal racegoers was Zara Tindall, who rarely misses the chance to attend an equestrian event. For the occasion Zara opted for a figure-flattering blue midi dress which she completed with pale pink accessories, however the part of her outfit that most caught our eye was her sunglasses, which were perfect for nailing this summer's trending aviator silhouette. Chunky aviators have become this year's must-have style of sunnies, and Zara's Ledbury Aviator-Style Sunglasses from Finlay & Co are the perfect example of how to execute the trend whilst still looking sophisticated and timeless. Despite their chunky design, the Finlay & Co shades manage to look elegant, rather than edgy, thanks to their semi-transluscent frames. This stops them from looking too heavy or obtrusive on your face, with the soft beige colour ensuring they still look expensive and luxurious. Whilst most trend-led sunglasses actually offer very little protection for your eyes, the lenses in Zara's Ledbury Aviator-Style Sunglasses are equipped with Carl Zeiss lenses for 100% protection from UVA/UVB rays, and have a graduated design which stops the glare from getting in your eyes. Each pair is also handmade in Italy from sustainable biodegradable Mazzucchelli acetate, which makes their £150 price tag all the more reasonable. We did spot some other similar styles to Zara's chic sunglasses, including this limited edition pair of Le Specs Fortune Teller Aviator-Frame Sunglasses for £65. They have a slightly more square-shaped aviator design, with green-tinted lenses that also offer 100% UV protection. Meanwhile this pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses (£139) have a more traditional rounded aviator design, and come in five colours. Meanwhile bargain hunters can pick up H&M's £12.99 Aviator Sunglasses in four different colourways, although it's worth noting that their lenses are 'UV protective' tinted plastic, and may not offer the same protection as the 100% coverage other pairs do. However if you want to get your hands on Zara's exact pair, you can still snap up the Finlay & Co Ledbury Aviator-Style Sunglasses for £150 from Harvey Nichols. You can also pick them up directly from the Finlay & Co website where they're priced at £160 and give you the option of adding prescription or polarised lenses.
