Boyfriend of Desire homicide victim arrested on murder allegations

NEW ORLENS (WGNO) — A man is in police custody following a homicide investigation in the Desire area on Sunday, May 25.
Around 10:39 a.m., New Orleans Police Department officers responded to the call of an unresponsive woman in a home in the 3400 block of Agriculture Street.
Amite woman killed in Tangipahoa Parish car crash
Upon arrival, officers reported finding the woman with trauma to the head. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
During the investigation, officers said they interviewed the victim's boyfriend 56-year-old Charles Blunt, who they ultimately arrested on allegations of second-degree murder.
The investigation remains ongoing. The Orleans Parish Coroners Office will release the woman's identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man is recovering in the hospital after falling from a cliff after running from law enforcement in Clark County on Sunday. 2 NEWS spoke with Sergeant Elliott about this incident. Elliott stressed that the man is not under arrest; he has no active charges or warrants. Elliott said officials believe the man was facing mental health or possible substance issues at the time. Officers were not chasing the man when he ran sometime Saturday evening. This happened within the Mad River Gorge and Nature Preserve. Elliot said they had stopped searching in the morning. A person in the park discovered the man had fallen from a cliff into a gorge. They called 911 at approximately 7:30 a.m. The fire department assisted in taking him back up the trail and to a nearby hospital. He was found in the area South of the Springfield Masonic Community Home and left of U.S. 68. NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to identify three suspects in a car burglary investigation. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice. The crime happened on Thursday, May 15, in the 2600 block of Wisteria Street in Gentilly Terrace. Police also released security camera footage that shows much of what happened. NOPD: 2 suspects, 2 burglaries, same block of Canal Street According to police around 4 p.m., three young people were walking down the street and approached a car that was parked in a driveway. The security camera footage shows one of the suspects using a tool to shatter a window on a passenger side door. Then he climbs into the car. Police did not say if any items were missing, but they say that the steering column had been defeated in an unsuccessful attempt to steal car. THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — A mother and daughter from Thibodaux have been arrested after their fight allegedly resulted in an infant's skull being fractured on Tuesday, May 27. According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to Karla Drive on report of a domestic disturbance at the home of Disheekia McDowell. West Nile virus detected in New Orleans There, they say they learned that two women, identified as Disheekia McDowell and Jada McDowell, were reportedly fighting and hitting each other with household items. During the fight, Jada allegedly picked up her infant daughter while continuing to fight Disheekia, resulting in the infant being injured. Investigators say a local hospital determined that the child had a skull fracture, and arrest warrants were then obtained for both women. They have been booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on one count each of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and second-degree cruelty to juveniles.
