How Trump, Musk and Murdoch got embroiled in the same tawdry saga
The damning information in the Epstein Files was meant to disgrace and bring to justice prominent figures from the left, such as Hillary and Bill Clinton and their corrupt 'Deep State' accomplices, who covered up the crimes. Instead, in what future historians will refer to as the 'Oops, Wrong Cabal Incident', the Epstein Files story has engulfed some of the most high-profile figures from the right, including the conspirator-in-chief, Donald Trump and Rupert Murdoch.
Who could have predicted that an investigation into the evil cabal that wields immense global power has landed Donald Trump (the most powerful politician in the world), Elon Musk (the wealthiest man in the world) and Rupert Murdoch (the most influential media magnate in the world) in the headlines? This unexpected twist has resulted in a free-for-all of in-fighting, back-stabbing and lawsuit-launching among high-profile Republicans and MAGA figures. Or, in the case of Deputy Director of the FBI, Dan Bongino, crying on Fox News about hating his job. Meanwhile, Trump is shedding erstwhile friends and allies at an astonishing rate. Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Steve Bannon and Marjorie Taylor-Greene are just some of the Trump cheerleaders who have reorganised their (im)moral hierarchies to place 'Free the Files' above their Trumpian fealty oaths.
And then there's Rupert Murdoch, who appears to have undergone a split-personality procedure, akin to the one depicted in Severance.While Wall Street Journal Rupert stood up for journalistic integrity by publishing a lewd birthday letter Trump penned to Epstein in 2003, Fox News Rupert has continually buried the Epstein Files story under an avalanche of up-to-the-minute headline stories featuring retired politicians Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton. It's riveting stuff for fans of alternative facts, although as a news source it results in the same sense of confusion you might feel if you wrote a picture.
By publishing the birthday letter, WSJ Rupert demonstrated a courageous commitment to exposing the truth about events that took place over two decades ago, that involved powerful people who may have opportunistically sought to profit from the horrific suffering of young girls. I'm looking forward to the Journal's 'Where are they now?' follow-up stories on Rebekah Brooks (current CEO of Murdoch-owned News UK) and Murdoch himself, who were in charge of the now-defunct News of the World when its journalists hacked the phone of 13-year-old rape and murder victim, Milly Dowler, in 2002.

There is no Murdochian bet-hedging from former first buddy, Elon Musk, who has come out swinging so hard against Trump that the South African is in danger of securing the 2028 Democrat presidential nomination. On June 7, Musk posted on X: 'Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!' He later deleted the post but the timing suggests Musk knew about Attorney-General Pam Bondi's May briefing to Trump that the president's name repeatedly appeared in the Epstein files.
While it would be nice to think that Musk's repeated posts on X about Trump's alleged self-serving suppression of the Epstein Files is primarily motivated by concern for Epstein's estimated 200 victims, this theory is undermined by the fact that Musk asked his AI chatbot Grok, to weigh into the Epstein Files debate. Because nothing says 'commitment to honouring the female victims of male sexual violence' like amplifying the collective voice of millions of neo-Nazi incels.
As a convicted sexual abuser himself, Trump has clearly evolved in his understanding of the serious consequences of offensive and demeaning sexual behaviour towards women, now that it directly affects him. Gone are the days of boasting that 'I moved on her like a bitch.' Or 'I just start kissing them… I don't even wait… Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.'

Trump fires statistician after weak employment data, claiming it was ‘rigged'
Washington: US President Donald Trump ordered the dismissal of the country's labour statistics commissioner following a shock employment report which he alleged, without evidence, was 'rigged' for political purposes. The Bureau of Labour Statistics found only 73,000 jobs were created in the world's biggest economy in July, well below market expectations, and significantly revised down the figures for May and June. 'Larger than normal' revisions concluded only 19,000 jobs were created in May, not 144,000, and only 14,000 jobs were created in June, not 147,000. In total, the numbers were revised down by 258,000 over two months. Trump – who spent much of the week saying the US was 'the hottest country in the world' after gross domestic product figures showed the economy rebounded to grow 3 per cent in the June quarter – immediately went on the attack and ordered the sacking of the commissioner, Erika McEntarfer. 'I was just informed that our country's 'Jobs Numbers' are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer … who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala's chances of Victory,' Trump claimed on TruthSocial, citing previous corrections from 2024 when Biden was president. 'We need accurate Jobs Numbers. I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY. She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified. Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can't be manipulated for political purposes.' Trump added that in his opinion the figures were 'RIGGED' to make Republicans, himself included, look bad. Despite the Department of Labour trumpeting the July jobs growth figure earlier in the day, Labour Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer promptly confirmed McEntarfer had been terminated following Trump's orders, with the deputy commissioner now serving in an acting capacity.
