Police searching for suspect in the killings of a couple found dead at an Arkansas park
The Brinks were hiking in the Devil's Den State Park with their daughters, ages 7 and 9, who were not injured in the attack. The girls are safe with family members, police said.
The park is in a remote and rural area, where the terrain is 'rugged, vegetation is thick and there is no cellphone service,' police said. Police were notified of the suspected double homicide around 2:40 p.m. Saturday.
The suspect is described as a White male of medium build. Investigators said they believed he was wearing a long-sleeved shirt with sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark ballcap, sunglasses and fingerless gloves. He was carrying a black backpack and seen driving towards the park exit in a black four-door sedan that may have been a Mazda with its license plate covered by tape, police said. The vehicle may have been travelling on State Highway 170 or State Highway 220 near the park.
The area has been cordoned off and police have asked visitors to the park to share any images they might have of the suspect from the park Saturday. Local residents have also been asked to check security and game camera footage.
Police have increased law enforcement presence at state parks, said Shea Lewis, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism in the release.
'We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil's Den State Park. Our hearts are with the victims' loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The safety of our visitors and staff is our highest priority, and we are working closely with Arkansas State Police and various law enforcement officials as the investigation continues,' the statement read.
The Brinks family had recently moved to Prairie Grove from another state, police added.

Franke and Hildebrandt were both arrested in August 2023 and charged with six felony counts of child abuse after Franke's 12-year-old son had escaped Hildebrandt's home, where he was bound and starved, and made his way to a neighbor's house seeking help. The neighbor called 911, leading local police to then discover Franke's 9-year-old daughter being held captive in a similar situation. Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase placed on paid leave in connection with MLB sports betting investigation
One of the biggest chips on the MLB trade market is being placed on paid leave just days before the deadline. All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase was placed on non-disciplinary paid leave on Monday in connection with an MLB sports betting investigation, per ESPN's Jeff Passan. He will be on leave through Aug. 31, per The Athletic's Zack Meisel. The Guardians confirmed the news in a statement. The team was told that "no additional players or club personnel are expected to be impacted." The team added that it will not comment further on the situation and will allow MLB to carry out its investigation. Clase is the second Guardians pitcher to be placed on paid leave while MLB looks into this gambling matter. Starter Luis Ortiz was put on paid leave in early July after suspicious bets were reportedly placed based on his performance. Ortiz reportedly came under fire after two of his pitches were flagged for suspicious betting activity. An unusual amount of action was placed on Ortiz opening an inning by either throwing a ball or hitting a batter in two separate games. In both instances, Ortiz started those innings by throwing pitches nowhere near the strike zone. It's unclear what MLB found during its investigation that resulted in Clase being placed on leave as well. If Clase or Ortiz is found by MLB to have violated league rules, they could face a wide range of possible punishment. The league banned former infielder Tucupita Marcano for life in 2024 after he reportedly bet on his own team while injured. Other players who bet on baseball, but not on their own teams, were banned for a year. Under MLB rules, players are not allowed to bet on baseball or softball but can bet on other sports. Older brother of Liam and Noel Gallagher charged with rape
The older brother of Liam and Noel Gallagher has been charged with rape. Paul Gallagher, 59, who lives in East Finchley in north London, is also accused of coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The alleged offences are claimed to have taken place between 2022 and 2024, the Metropolitan Police said. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday August 27. The charges against Gallagher, who is a year older than Noel and seven years older than Liam, were first reported by the Daily Telegraph. Cate Baccas from the Crown Prosecution Service said: 'We can confirm we have authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge Paul Gallagher with rape and other offences following a police investigation. 'Mr Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, London has been charged with a range of offences, including rape and sexual assault. He has also been charged with assault, controlling or coercive behaviour, making threats to kill and intentional strangulation. 'He will appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 27 2025. 'The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial. 'It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.'
