Youth cornerstone of peace, security strategy
Al-Taher made the statement at the closing ceremony of the third season of the 'Young Ambassador' program, which was jointly organized by the embassies of the United Kingdom and Canada, along with the United Nations Office in Kuwait. A total of 39 high school students participated in the seven-month-long program. Present at the event were Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Organizations and Minister Plenipotentiary Abdulaziz Al-Jarallah, representatives of the Public Authority for Youth and Kuwait Diplomatic Institute, and a large number of individuals from the diplomatic community and international organizations operating in Kuwait. Al-Taher affirmed that the United Nations puts the youth at the heart of its strategies to achieve peace and security. She stressed the importance of investing in the young generation, considering them 'a generation that carries vision, values, and an influential voice.' She pointed out that the program would not have been successful without the cooperation and partnership of all concerned parties. She thanked the embassies, schools, and families for their support.
Meanwhile, Canadian Ambassador to Kuwait Aliya Mawani praised the participants, indicating they proved that their level of commitment and curiosity is truly intellectual. 'I am proud of this distinguished group of young ambassadors. Many of them told me that this experience is a turning point in their lives. I am excited to see their future impact on their communities,' she asserted. British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis said the British Embassy is keen on supporting and organizing this program, expressing her admiration for the energy and fresh ideas presented by the participants. She added, 'These young people have inspired us with their curiosity and ambition. We look forward to their promising future.' The closing ceremony featured short documentaries produced by the participants, depicting their visions for building a more just and peaceful world and signifying their deep understanding of international issues and their commitment to be effective in bringing about change.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The Editor-in-Chief of Al-Seyassah and Arab Times newspapers Ahmed Al-Jarallah on Tuesday met with Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Kuwait Ayubkhan Yunusov, who was accompanied by Counselor at the Uzbek Embassy Bakhrom Turdialiev. They discussed ways to enhance media cooperation between the two sides. During the meeting, Yunusov expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Al- Seyassah and Arab Times newspapers for their continuous cooperation and support. He also praised the newspaper's recent interview with him, which addressed various aspects of bilateral relations between Kuwait and Uzbekistan. He said: 'We appreciate the positive role played by the Kuwaiti press in building bridges of communication between peoples. We are pleased with the media partnership that brings us together with Al-Seyassah and Arab Times newspapers.' Al-Fahaheel calls for an investigation into the handball association violations
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: Al-Fahaheel Club has requested the establishment of an investigative committee to probe violations by certain members of the Handball Federation's Board of Directors, according to the club's official letter No. (14848-2025) sent to the Director General of the Public Authority for Sports last Sunday. The letter highlighted clear breaches by some federation members of the handball statutes, including holding meetings without the presence of the president or vice president, and continuing to issue and circulate invalid circulars and decisions. This demand followed a letter dated August 6 from the Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Sports for Competitive Sports Sector, Bashar Abdullah, which referenced a legal opinion from the Fatwa and Legislation Department. The opinion declared all meetings held without the president or vice president as invalid, along with all decisions issued in those meetings, due to their conflict with the federation's statute. On the same day, Al-Arabi Club sent letter No. 568-2025 to the Handball Federation, urging it to stop issuing and publishing invalid circulars and decisions that result in financial losses and constitute criminal offenses under Law No. 1 of 1993 regarding the protection of public funds. Al-Arabi firmly rejected any violations of the federation's statutes or unilateral decision-making, condemning the blatant infringement on the powers of federation president Fouad Al-Balushi. The club also reserved the right to take legal action against anyone found to have breached laws and regulations. Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti junior handball team secured its first victory in the consolation stage, known as the 'President's Cup,' at the 11th Under-19 World Championship currently underway in Cairo, Egypt. Matches are being held at Dr. Hassan Mostafa Hall through August 16. The team defeated Morocco 34-25. Earlier, Kuwait lost all its matches in the preliminary round (Group A) of the tournament and was defeated by Kosovo in the President's Cup.
