LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Kentucky women's basketball team held its final home game of the season, looking to punch its ticket to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament against Kansas State.
UK came out of the gate fast, jumping out on a 7-0 run. The sophomore Clara Strack got things going for her team, scoring nine points early. One key point of emphasis was to take some of the load off Georgia Amoore, who scored 34 points against Liberty.

Just like the rest of the game, in overtime, we exchanged bucket-for-bucket from the Wildcat teams. In Kentucky's last possession to take the win, it rebounded the ball three times to get the last shot. Georgia Amoore drove to the basket looking to hit the game-winner and couldn't get it to fall.
Kentucky's season comes to an end falling to Kansas State in the second round of the tournament 80-79.

Why did the Boston Celtics make the picks that they did in the 2025 NBA draft?

Why did the Boston Celtics make the picks that they did in the 2025 NBA draft? Fans of the team were a bit perplexed by the Celtics front office electing to take Spanish wing Hugo Gonzalez at No. 28 overall in the first round of the draft. Many of the more vocal Boston fans were even more perplexed by the team trading back from No. 32 overall to take a pair of prospects near the end of the second round, while picking up another two future second round picks. So why did Boston choose to take the picks that they did, and to move back in the second round? There is no better option to answer such question than an employee of the team itself, which is exactly what the Celtics did in a recent clip they put together for their official YouTube channel. Advertisement Team reporter Marc D'Amico dove into why Boston took Hugo Gonzalez out of Real Madrid at No. 28, Amari Williams out of Kentucky at No. 46, and Max Shulga out of VCU at No. 57 in the 2025 NBA draft. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what he had to say. This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Why did the Celtics make the picks they did in the 2025 NBA draft?

Caitlin Clark to miss second straight game, won't play vs. Dallas Wings, Paige Bueckers

DALLAS – Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will miss her second straight game with a left groin strain. Clark was listed as out for Friday night's game against the Dallas Wings, per a Fever team release at 2 p.m. Friday's highly anticipated game would have pitted Clark, the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, against former UConn star Paige Bueckers, picked No. 1 overall last April. The stars played twice in college — a Huskies win in the 2023 Sweet 16 and a Hawkeyes win in the 2024 Final Four. The Wings moved Friday's game from their usual College Park Center (capacity 7,000) to American Airlines Center (capacity 20,000). The sellout will set a franchise attendance record, as well as a record for any WNBA game played in Texas. Former Fever forrward NaLyssa Smith, now with the Wings, said after shootaround she expected Friday's game atmosphere was "going to be insane." Instead, it will be a disappointment for many who hoped to watch the two young stars clash again. Clark missed her sixth game of the season Thursday — an 85-75 home loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. She was ruled out early in the day. Clark did not play between May 24 and June 14, missing five games with a left quad strain. They were the first games she missed either at Iowa or with the Fever. For the Wings, DiJonai Carrington and Heritage Christian grad Tyasha Harris were listed out with injuries. Former Fever center Teaira McCowan is out with national team obligations.

Talented LSU baseball transfer portal infielder reveals new home in the Big 12

God makes no mistakes @KUBaseball #rockchalk A former LSU baseball infielder announced his next school via a post on his social media account Thursday. David Hogg will play his sophomore season at Kansas. The former top-100 prospect spent one season in Baton Rouge. He played in 12 games and recorded a walk, run, and RBI in his two at-bats. Hogg's last appearance came on April 22 against Northwestern State. Hogg ranked No. 79 overall and No. 21 at shortstop in the 2024 class according to Perfect Game. The Mansfield, TX native came to LSU off a senior year where he batted .411 with a .534 on-base percentage. Hogg couldn't establish any sort of role on the 2025 team and likely would've had a tough time doing so next season. Head coach Jay Johnson brought in two experienced infielders from the transfer portal who also hit well at the collegiate level. The Jayhawks went 43-17 overall with an NCAA Tournament berth. Infielder Brady Ballinger earned All-Big 12 first-team honors and may be off to the MLB Draft depending on his final prospect ranking.
