Kentucky falls in a heartbreaker to Kansas State 80-79 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Kentucky women's basketball team held its final home game of the season, looking to punch its ticket to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament against Kansas State. UK came out of the gate fast, jumping out on a 7-0 run. The sophomore Clara Strack got things going for her team, scoring nine points early. One key point of emphasis was to take some of the load off Georgia Amoore, who scored 34 points against Liberty. The second quarter looked different; Kentucky went on a scoring drought while Kansas State went on a 10-0 run to take the lead at halftime 33-31. Strack led in scoring at the break with 15 points, four rebounds, and one steal. Amoore was held to just five points. The second half went back and forth until the very end. An 8-0 run for Kentucky gave them a 66-61, but right after KSU went on a 6-0 run to take the lead off a Zyanna Poindexter three. This game would ultimately go into overtime with the game tied at 69. In Kentucky's last possession to take the win, it rebounded the ball three times to get the last shot. Georgia Amoore drove to the basket looking to hit the game-winner and couldn't get it to fall.
