The Punjab government has banned temporarily installed mechanical rides during the Eidul Azha holiday.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the ban applies to mechanical rides that are set up temporarily during the holidays.
Mechanical rides permanently installed in amusement parks across the province are exempt from the ban with a condition to get the fitness certificates from the deputy commissioners.
Under the directives issued by the department, the district administrations will verify that every mechanical ride meets all necessary safety standards before issuing the certificate.
The spokesperson clarified that the decision to ban temporary and mobile mechanical rides had been made to protect lives.
During the Eid holidays, a large number of citizens, especially children, use the rides. Temporary rides often fail to meet security protocols and pose a threat to citizens due to overloading.
The ban will remain in effect throughout the Eid holidays.

"Every year, I see so much pain on the roads – blood, fear in the eyes of animals, their cries – and my heart breaks," she said, stressing that while animals may not speak, they do have feelings. "They love, they nurture, they form bonds – just like we do. They were created by the same loving God who created us, and to see them suffer so publicly, often with pictures, jokes, and memes shared on social media – it's something I personally find very difficult to digest," she admitted. Alizeh acknowledged that people's intentions are often pure and reverent when it comes to observing religious sacrifice. She emphasised that she does not oppose the act of sacrifice itself, but instead hopes for some empathy this Eidul Azha. Requesting her followers to make this Eid more about the spirit of humility, the Taqdeer actor added, "If it's possible, please be mindful of the images and videos shared online. Some of us are deeply affected by them," she wrote. "Islam teaches mercy, compassion, and dignity – for humans and for animals." Railways beefs up train security

On the direction of Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, the department had directed all SPs Railways to depute sufficient force at exit and entry points of all railway stations and strict watch to be carried out of suspicious persons, an official in the Ministry told APP. Pakistan Railways Police Commando Force would be deputed at vulnerable installations and in trains, while bomb disposal staff would also be kept on alert for search of luggage and passengers at railway stations.

PHOTO: EXPRESS In a move to bolster aviation safety and security, the Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 within a 15-kilometre radius of all airports and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) airbases across the province. The restrictions will be in effect from June 5 to June 20. Under the order, a complete ban has been placed on pigeon flying, fireworks, the use of drones or laser lights and the disposal of animal waste within the designated perimeter. The decision has been taken in the interest of protecting human lives and property and to ensure the smooth operation of flight services. The Home Secretary of Punjab issued the restrictions under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, citing that such activities pose serious threats to flight safety and operations. Open disposal of sacrificial remains, in particular, attracts birds, which can pose severe risks to aircraft and passenger safety. The directives apply uniformly across all civil airports and PAF airbases in Punjab. All deputy commissioners have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the ban and to maintain enhanced cleanliness in areas surrounding airports and airbases. A spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department emphasised that the move is a preventive measure aimed at mitigating potential hazards during the Eidul Azha period, a time when instances of open waste disposal and celebratory activities traditionally increase.
