Kerry Reserves seal league title and look ahead to promotion
KERRY Reserves clinched the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League title with an 8-0 thrashing of derby rivals Abermule Reserves on Friday night.
Ben Davies led the rout with a hat-trick with goals from Jack Carroll, Daryl McWatt, Rhys Humphreys, Cenwyn Bloor-Jones and Liam Williams ensuring the trophy for the Lambs and a miserable end of season for the 10 man hosts.
Manager Aaron Leary said: "It's been a great season overall, the lads have gave it their all this season and to win the double is a fantastic achievement.
"They're a great bunch of lads and I couldn't be more proud of them, they've made my first season back into management really easy.
"Also credit to Forden Reserves for pushing us all the way.
"I got pretty nervous that last couple of weeks with the results they were getting but good to see two young squads doing so well in the league.
"We'll take a break now for a month or so, hopefully bring in a couple of new faces and then back to it to prepare for a bigger challenge in tier four next season."

Phil Parkinson on Wrexham's new challenge in Championship
It was another memorable campaign at The Racecourse with the Reds finishing runners-up in League One to secure an historic third successive promotion. It's been an incredible journey under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney with Wrexham climbing from the National League to the second tier in double quick time. Back at this level for the first time in 43 years, Parkinson's side will come up against Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town, who were all relegated from the Premier League this term. They'll also face the likes of Sheffield United - beaten in the Championship play-off final - Coventry City and big-spending Birmingham City, who were promoted as champions of League One. "I saw a stat that we are the only team in the Championship next season who has not been in the Premier League in their history, which is interesting," said the Reds' boss. "That is great, it is amazing for us to be in the company we are in being back in this division after 43 years. "The profile of this division around world football is very high." Wrexham have been installed as joint ninth favourites to be promoted to the top-flight next season. Parkinson, looking to strengthen his squad to cope with the step-up a division, is not bothered what bookmakers think about Wrexham's chances in the Championship. "People anticipate we are going to make new signings but I think we surprised teams last year in how we did," he added. "Can we do the same again? I will give you the prediction on that when we see what the market is like for the squad we are building. MORE WREXHAM AFC NEWS "I have never been that bothered about what the bookmakers say to be honest with you. "They don't get everything right as we know. "Me, Steve Parkin and the rest of the staff block everything out and just concentrate on doing what we've got to do, and that's what we do during the season as well. "We don't listen to anything positive or negative said about us, we just concentrate on what we feel works."

Rangers transfer latest as Birmingham stance on Davies and Dowell revealed and Hagi told his 'last option'
It's the latest news surrounding Rangers all in one place as transfer season kicks up a notch All the talk at Rangers is over the incoming next manager and the soon to be 49ers Enterprises takeover. But behind the scenes talk over players' futures will be well underway as planning kicks up a notch. The Light Blues return to pre-season on June 23 with crucial Champions League qualifiers one month later - but will Ben Davies and Kieran Dowell be part of the plan? The Daily Mail report that Birmingham City - where both enjoyed English League One title glory - are willing to wait until a new manager is in and settled before asking about the duo. They played key roles for the Blues' return to the English Championship with boss Chris Davies keen to turn the loan deals into full-time stays. The same report states City are still putting packages together for the duo - despite a decision being unlikely until a new head coach gets a look at the squad. But while they are willing to be patient they won't hang around forever as they line up alternative targets if they can't get the pair back on board at St Andrew's. Elsewhere, Ianis Hagi has been told a return to his native Romania should be his LAST resort this summer. The former Rangers playmaker can move on a free and speaking earlier in the week, Hagi himself confirmed he has received phone calls and will weigh up everything that is offered to him. But Romania legend Ciprian Marica has told the media in his homeland that Spain would be perfect - despite his Alaves loan not working out - as he told Ianis what he must find in his next club. He told "It would be the last option for me if I were Ianis, to go back home. That should be the last, last, last option. "His father has a football club. He could come back to Farul at any time. At home, the door is always open. I would try to stay out. "Ianis didn't seem to have the best chance in Spain. I see him playing in Spain. I think if there's an opportunity for him to go to Spain I see him playing there. "Now, you have to have a coach. That's the most important thing about a team when you arrive. A coach who wants you. "If he wants you, then he forces you, puts you in, supports you. He comes after an injury, he needs the support of the club, to feel loved, to feel important. No matter how good you are mentally, you need a coach or a man to know that you can always lean on him. "It's important that he goes where the coach wants him to go. I really thought it wasn't easy, it's a delicate situation. "I hope with all my heart that he stays out, that he finds a team and a coach who believes in him. But the timing is not good at all."
