SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KCAU) — The Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA in South Sioux City held a ribbon cutting for its new addition on Friday.

The $5 million project, which was paid for by grants and private donations, is for children ages six weeks to 16 years old. Construction started last May, and its opening has been a long time coming.
'I get a little overwhelmed because this is something I've wanted to do since I got here in 2018,' Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA CEO Rhonda Robson said. 'Bringing it to life and seeing the amount of people that showed up today for this event just proves how impactful this is going to be for our community.'
Right now, the facility is just open to the kids currently in the YMCA's Early Learning and Youth Development program. It will fully open to the public on Monday, May 5.
