Ivan Toney calls out Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes after Saudi transfer snub
Ivan Toney has called out Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes for what he said about the Saudi Pro League after he snubbed Al-Hilal.
Al-Hilal were willing to pay United £100m for the Portuguese midfielder and give the 30-year-old an eye-watering £700,000-a-week tax-free deal.
Fernandes, though, rejected the lucrative offer, insisting that he wanted to continue playing at the 'highest level' and 'in the big competitions'.
Those comments appear to have irked Toney, who left the Premier League for Saudi Arabia last year when he swapped Brentford for Al-Ahli.

'He obviously hasn't seen the league,' England international striker Toney told talkSPORT about Fernandes' remarks.
'The standard is high. I always say this, people always judge it on not seeing it, you know?
'And you have to see it first hand to have your own opinion. If people went there and went to some games, they'd soon realise.
'I know it's a good standard. You would never knock it once you've been there. It is tough.'
Fernandes, speaking about his decision to remain at Old Trafford this week, said: 'It was a very ambitious proposal [from Al-Hilal].
'The president was a fantastic person. We never discussed the amount [initially]. With my agent? Of course.
'Then, I spoke to my wife and family, and she asked me what my personal goals were in my career. She was someone who always supported me a lot.
'It was an easy move, even at a family level. I had Joao Cancelo there, my children are used to playing with him in the national team, we have a great friendship
'But I want to maintain myself at the highest level, playing in the big competitions, and I feel capable of it.'
Toney, meanwhile, has shined since he joined Saudi club Al-Ahli, scoring 30 goals across 44 games to date. More Trending
He was recently named in the England squad by Thomas Tuchel, with the Three Lions boss opting to pick Toney instead of Dominic Solanke.
'Ivan deserves to be with us I think,' Tuchel told a press conference last month.
'I'm convinced because he scored over 20 goals for Al-Ahli this season.
'He's won a major title with the Asian Champions League, a big involvement in the team with goals and assists and a huge contribution.'

Bryan Mbeumo back-up plan gathers pace as Newcastle target Premier League rivals
Manchester United are keen to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo as part of their summer rebuild and now appear to have a free run at the forward after one of their rivals admitted defeat Newcastle are plotting a double swoop for Joao Pedro and Anthony Elanga after losing out on Bryan Mbeumo. The Magpies had been linked with a move for the Brentford forward this summer. He had been identified as an ideal addition ahead of Newcastle 's return to the Champions League next term. But they faced serious competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, with the Red Devils now looking likely to secure his signature after Mbeumo expressed his desire to move to Old Trafford. That decision has forced Newcastle to look elsewhere with a number of Premier League stars having been identified as alternatives. According to The Telegraph, Eddie Howe 's side will step up their pursuit of Brighton forward Pedro. The Newcastle boss has been tracking the Brazilian since his days with Fluminense and his profile is seen as an ideal addition to the squad. Brighton are now braced for bids but the Seagulls are expected to ask for around £60m for the striker following a season in which he scored ten goals in all competitions. Away from Pedro, Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga. The Magpies are understood to have submitted an enquiry for the winger, with discussions at an early stage. Forest would demand a lofty fee for the former Man United man having previously rebuffed a £35m approach from Newcastle in January. Regarding Mbeumo, United still have to agree terms with Brentford over the forward, with Thomas Frank having warned the Bees have a very lofty asking price in mind. Speaking earlier this month, he said: "It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot. Really a lot. Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done. "There is a reason why he costs x number of million pounds, and we do not have x number of million pounds to buy for." He added: "I would say that I would be surprised if a lot of big clubs don't look at him. I would be surprised with what he has to offer. "How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists plus his work ethic. And his character. All these things mean that he has a lot, so he is a good player.' Alejandro Garnacho 'WILL leave Man United this summer' - with three Premier League clubs interested in the winger
Alejandro Garnacho and Manchester United have both agreed to part ways this summer, with multiple clubs reportedly interested in signing the winger. Mail Sport previously revealed Garnacho was brutally warned by Ruben Amorim that he needs to 'pray' he can find a new club in a dressing room spat in front of the United squad. Tensions climaxed when Garnacho hit out at Amorim after being given less than 20 minutes off the bench in the Red Devils' Europa League final defeat by Tottenham last month. The youngster said in Bilbao: 'Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today - I don't know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.' With Garnacho's departure all but confirmed in an official club statement, potential suitors are now circling to secure the 20-year-old's talents. Three Premier League clubs are said to be 'very keen' on Garnacho, who sees remaining in the English top flight a serious option, according to Fabrizio Romano. As for other European clubs, Bayer Leverkusen are understood to be interested, along with a host of Italian clubs. Mail Sport understands that, although United value Garnacho at between £60-70million, any bidders now know the club have no option but to sell him. Napoli and Chelsea are two of the clubs that have maintained a long-standing interest in the Argentina international. At a recent press conference, Amad was quizzed over the future of his United team-mate and, as he answered, Amorim's face said it all. In a video that emerged on social media, Amorim attempted to cover his face as he chuckled away while Amad responded. Garnacho also stole headlines on United's recent post-season tour for all the wrong reasons. One incident saw him push a fan who was asking him a question, while Garnacho also aimed a dig at the club - taking to Instagram to express his relief at the tour's conclusion. With Garnacho seemingly on the way out, United have already been busy bolstering their attack in the transfer window. The Red Devils completed their first signing of the summer - a £62.5m deal for Wolves's Matheus Cunha, and are closing in on a move for Bryan Mbeumo. Mail Sport understands the Red Devils are preparing a revised bid for the Brentford forward after their opening offer of £55m was rejected. Brentford are pushing for north of £60m, while United's opening bid was £45m plus £10m in bonuses. Mbeumo is seen as a key target for United, who are looking to improve their lacklustre squad after a dreadful 2024-25 campaign.
