
Sharjah Taxi distributes 15,000 Iftar meals to taxi drivers
Khalid Al Kindi, General Manager of Sharjah Taxi, emphasised the company's dedication to nurturing the values of generosity and community cohesion, especially during Ramadan. "At Sharjah Taxi, we are devoted to reinforcing the spirit of giving and community support, particularly during the holy month. Our annual Iftar meal distribution initiative aims to alleviate the challenges faced by taxi drivers while fasting, appreciate their significant contributions, and foster a supportive and motivating work atmosphere," he said.
Al Kindi also highlighted Sharjah Taxi's commitment to social responsibility through a range of year-round programmes designed to enhance drivers' quality of life, strengthen their connection to the community, and promote a culture of teamwork and cooperation.

He explained: "At Sharjah Charity International, we are committed to promoting social solidarity through humanitarian initiatives that cater to the diverse needs of the community, particularly those who work tirelessly to serve others. This initiative is part of our 'Iftar for Fasting Persons' project, which seeks to distribute one million meals throughout the month across 136 locations, including 15,000 meals specifically reserved for taxi drivers in recognition of their crucial role in facilitating people's lives."
Bin Khadim further noted, "The continued collaboration between Sharjah Charity International and Sharjah Taxi underscores our shared commitment to supporting impactful community initiatives. We express our sincere appreciation to Sharjah Taxi for their cooperation in this initiative and look forward to more partnerships that allow us to expand charitable efforts and reach a greater number of beneficiaries."

UAE convoy arrives in Gaza with more than 1,000 tonnes of aid

The aid was sent as part of the UAE's continuing Gallant Knight 3 operation, launched by President Sheikh Mohamed to support Gaza's civilians. The convoy carried approximately 1,039 tonnes of food supplies and flour to address the urgent needs of around 1.3 million people, reported the state news agency Wam. "This latest delivery is part of the UAE's ongoing support for the people of Gaza, who are enduring dire humanitarian conditions amid severe shortages of essential food items," said Wam. Last month, The National reported on a charity organisation in Sharjah's launch of a scheme to deliver fresh bread to Gaza. Under the auspices of Gallant Knight 3, a Dh750,000 monthly budget was allocated to the project being helmed by Sharjah Charity International, as part of an emergency response to the worsening humanitarian situation in the enclave. The war, which is now in its 20th month, has killed more than 54,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza authorities. Hamas is still holding 58 hostages taken during the October 7 attacks, in which 1,200 people were killed. Around a third of the captives are believed to still be alive.

Sharjah and China strengthen cooperation and partnership
Sharjah Asset Management, the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, has concluded a strategic visit to the People's Republic of China. The visit aimed to strengthen international cooperation and expand partnership opportunities between the two countries in the areas of research and development, knowledge exchange, and the exploration of promising opportunities in new sectors. This initiative is part of the broader efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the UAE and China and contribute to driving sustainable development in the Emirate of Sharjah. During the visit, Sharjah Asset Management signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with (CICC), in the presence of Sheikh Saud Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Asset Management; Omar Al Mulla, CEO Ossol Investment; Saeed Sharar, CEO Ossol investments; along with a group of CEOs and directors from Sharjah Asset Management, and a delegation representing the Bank of China. This partnership will open new horizons for research, investment, innovation, and the exchange of expertise and knowledge between both parties.
