'Emotional' folk song for Reading train station foundling
Tom, who now lives in Nottingham, was brought up by adoptive parents and did not ask to see his adoption file until the age of 44.It revealed he was left at Reading Station and contained a police report as well as articles from the local press."There was a birth certificate which was totally blank, so no parents, no date of birth, and no knowledge of where I actually came from," he said.He approached the ITV documentary show Long Lost Family, who found out his parents were from Ireland, but his mother lived in London.Tom said he presumed he had been left at the station because he was born out of wedlock."It was impossible to bring [illegitimate babies] up because there was no support financially for women at that time," he said."Apparently [my mum] was wandering round for about an hour, so I guess right up until the end she didn't really want to give me up."Tom then connected with some family - including a cousin on his mother's side, who was also a foundling, having been left outside a church."I think we'll always be quite connected because of that situation," he said.
'Broke our hearts'
Folk musicians While and Matthews are Britain's longest-enduring female duo and have played more than 2,500 gigs over 30 years. While said Tom's story "broke out hearts".Matthews said she wanted the song, titled The Waiting Room, to convey that emotional trauma, but also the fact that Tom was loved and had "a really happy life"."His biological mum made the ultimate sacrifice of herself because she loved him so much," she said."And his adopted mum, she was so proud of him and loved him so much that we thought 'this is a great angle to take' - the two women in his life that loved him so much."

Big Brother star Brian Dowling renews his wedding vows with husband Arthur Gourounlian for the SECOND time... one year after welcoming another daughter
Big Brother star Brian Dowling has renewed his wedding vows with husband Arthur Gourounlian for the second time - little more than a year after welcoming another child. The Irish reality star, 47, exchanged vows with his partner in front of their two daughters, Blake, two, and Blu, 14 months - 10 years after they first tied the knot. To announce the happy news, the couple shared an album of pictures from their special day with Instagram followers. The pair were dressed in similar looking outfits to ones they wore during their first wedding ceremony, while their daughters wore identical ivory dresses. Brian told fans: 'You know what, it's a GORGEOUS DAY for a wedding... wanna do it again TODAY.' The Six O'Clock Show host and his Dancing With The Stars judge husband first married in Powerscourt Hotel in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland. The couple become the first gay celebrity couple to wed since same-sex marriage was legalised in Ireland. The couple welcomed their first child Blake in September 2022, with Brian's sister Aoife acting as the surrogate. Second child Blue was born in June 2024. Brian later shared the happy news on Instagram, sharing photos of the moment the couple met their daughter and revealing that his 'superstar' sister Aoife was their surrogate for a second time. 'Please be upstanding for the arrival of our BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, Blu Amar Rose Dowling Gourounlian. 'Blu was delivered safely on Sunday, June 23rd, at 13:33h, weighing 6lb 2ozs. Myself & Papa are ABSOLUTELY BESOTTED & actually can't believe we now have two little beauties to keep us on our toes,' he wrote. Paying tribute to his sister, Brian continued: '@effidy_dowling_, you are a SUPERSTAR & we are, as always, FOREVER GRATEFUL.' 'You stayed so calm, considering it wasn't exactly the birth plan we had initially hoped for. Baby Blu was adamant to arrive on Sunday, the 23rd of June & nothing or no one was going to stop her Big Sister Blake, you have been activated.' Big Brother star Brian originally announced in March he was set to become a father for the second time. The presenter, who shot to fame when he starred on the reality show in 2001, revealed the happy news in an Instagram post. Sharing an adorable photo of Blake wearing a 'promoted to big sister' sweater, he wrote: 'Our family is going to get bigger. 'We are so excited about the arrival of Baby Dowling Gourounlian Number 2 this Summer.' Brian continued: 'We have already been so blessed with Blake we can't believe how lucky we are as parents to welcome another baby to our family. 'Blake is going to be the BEST BIG SISTER EVER.' While preparing to welcome their first child in 2022, Brian revealed that his sister had agreed to be their surrogate. Speaking to Made by Mammas: The podcast, the star said that he had always wanted to be a father and his sister graciously offered to make his dreams come true by carrying a donor egg. However the television host revealed that the journey to fatherhood had been a difficult one after he and his husband found out 'things along the way' that meant it would only be possible for one to be the baby's biological father. The pair have also been targeted with homophobic abuse after starting their journey to parenthood. While not revealing who will be the biological father of their child, Brian told host Zoe Hardman: 'For me and Arthur it doesn't make a difference'. The star, whose sister is due to give birth later this year, married professional dancer Arthur in 2015 and said that with them both coming from large families they always wanted children. 'I always wanted to be a parent, I remember I brought my two younger sisters somewhere to Paris, Disney, I was working at Ryanair at the time, I think I would have been no more than 20 or 21 and they were super young. And remember telling someone that I was their parent to get them on a ride'.
