Napoli interested in Man City star Jack Grealish but cannot match his wages
Napoli interested in Man City star Jack Grealish but cannot match his wages
Napoli are considering a summer swoop for Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish, according to The Telegraph.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte is an admirer of the England international, and the Serie A champions could move for the out-of-favour 29-year-old.

Grealish was not in the squad for Man City's FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace and did not make the cut for their FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
Grealish's £100 million move to the Etihad Stadium has been a disappointment, and the curtain is closing on his uneventful time at the club.
The former Aston Villa man is looking for a new stomping ground, and Napoli might be his next destination, although his massive wages could prove a stumbling block.
Grealish reportedly earns around £300,000, which is asking a lot of Napoli.
The Partenopei will be looking to Man City to cover half of his salary in a potential loan deal, even though the Premier League club prefers an outright sale.

Napoli sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain in the winter transfer window and never properly replaced him.
Grealish is a like-for-like Kvaratskhelia replacement who would bolster Napoli's bid to defend their Serie A crown.
Napoli have wasted no time strengthening their squad as they prepare to compete in the UEFA Champions League and deliver a better title defence than they did in 2023/24.
A move for Grealish could spell the end of their interest in Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho.
The four-time Scudetto winners were keen on his services and reportedly even made an offer to the Red Devils, which was rejected.

If Napoli sign Grealish, there might not be room for another left-sided attacker on the roster.
Elsewhere, Napoli are closing in on AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah and Bologna defender Sam Beukema ahead of next season.

Brighton sign centre-back Diego Coppola from Hellas Verona
Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed the signing of Italian central defender Diego Coppola from Serie A side Hellas Verona. The 21-year-old established himself as a regular for Verona last season, featuring 34 times in Serie A as they finished 14th. He has signed a five-year contract on the south coast. Advertisement His form was recognised with a first senior call-up to the Italian national squad by former manager Luciano Spalletti in May and he made his debut in a 3-0 defeat to Norway, playing the whole match. Brighton have added the centre-half to Fabian Hurzeler's squad as part of a refresh in the middle of the defence. 'Diego is an exciting addition for the club,' said Hurzeler. 'Although he is still young, he is tall, strong and mobile and he will give us a real physical presence. 'He has made impressive progress in Serie A and deserved his call-up to the Italian national team. We look forward to helping him develop even more.' Diego is a Seagull! 💙🤍 — Brighton & Hove Albion (@OfficialBHAFC) June 17, 2025 Coppola emerged through the academy system at Verona to earn a reputation as a committed defender. A revamp of Brighton's defence is gathering pace, with Olivier Boscagli lined up on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven. The 27-year-old Frenchman, a long-time target, will become a Brighton player on July 1 once his contract with the Dutch club has expired. Boscagli's arrival follows the £9m signing in January of 23-year-old Eiran Cashin from Championship side Derby County. Brighton's long-serving captain Lewis Dunk, who will be 34 in November, missed 13 league games through injury last season, which was more than in the previous two seasons combined. Injury problems for Adam Webster limited the 30-year-old to 22 of a possible 38 league appearances. Player of the season Jan Paul van Hecke was the only constant for head coach Fabian Hurzeler at the heart of the back line. Brazilian Igor Julio made a comeback from more than four months out with a hamstring injury in the final game of the season, a 4-1 victory at Tottenham, as Hurzeler's side missed out on Europe by finishing eighth. Advertisement Coppola is Brighton's second signing of the summer, having confirmed the arrival of Greek striker Charalampos Kostoulas from Olympiacos on Thursday. Wingers Yun Do-young and Tommy Watson also arrive at the club this summer after Brighton agreed deals to sign both players, from Daejeon Hana Citizen and Sunderland respectively, earlier this year.

Sabalenka apologizes to Gauff for post-match comments after French Open
BERLIN — Aryna Sabalenka says she has written to Coco Gauff to apologize for the 'unprofessional' comments she made following her loss to her American rival in the final of the French Open . Speaking to Eurosport Germany, the top-ranked Sabalenka said her remarks after her 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 loss to Gauff at Roland-Garros this month were a mistake. In her post-match press conference in Paris, Sabalenka had suggested that the result was more due to her own errors than to Gauff's performance.
