PureHealth, SEHA collaborate with Ma'an to open new dialysis treatment centre in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma'an, in partnership with PureHealth and its subsidiary SEHA, have opened SEHA Abu Dhabi Dialysis Centre, which comes in partnership with Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Bahar Company as a community contribution.The centre provides vital care for Abu Dhabi residents living with kidney failure, ensuring greater access to essential care and improving health outcomes across the community.The Authority of Social Contribution - Ma'an will allocate community contributions towards this centre as part of its efforts to support social initiatives aimed at addressing pressing social priorities in Abu Dhabi. This step is part of the authority's recently launched From The Community To The Community initiative, and in line with the aspirations of the UAE's Year of Community.Run by SEHA's expert healthcare teams, the centre provides free dialysis care for those living with kidney failure, ensuring essential care is available to all of those who need it.Abdullah Humaid Al Ameri, Director General, the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma'an, said: "We are thankful to all contributors for their invaluable efforts and support in the opening of the SEHA Abu Dhabi Dialysis Centre, which is crucial for the survival of renal patients." He added, "The centre comes as part of our From the Community to the Community initiative in which we support collective community effort, emphasising on the power of a unified community in achieving long-term social impact. This centre aligns with the authority's commitment to enhancing access to essential healthcare, ultimately improving the wellbeing of the community members in Abu Dhabi.'The centre has already fostered community engagement and participation through initiatives such as the one from the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), bringing together renowned artists, including; Ghaiath Al Rouba, Nadeem Ka, Charlie VillaGracia, and Christian Ray. Each artist contributed 40 hours of their time to create vibrant murals, enriching the healing experience for patients.Saeed Jaber Al Kuwaiti, Group CEO of SEHA, said: 'SEHA is committed to delivering world-class care and ensuring that essential healthcare services are accessible to those in need, in line with the Year of Community. As part of PureHealth, we play a key role in enabling this centre, providing the facility and expertise to support our community. This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration with the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma'an and PureHealth, driving meaningful impact and improving lives.'Located at Zayed The First Street, the centre will initially accommodate 112 patients undergoing dialysis three times a week. SEHA plans to expand the facility to serve an additional 56 patients and offer peritoneal dialysis in the future.The centre is staffed by SEHA Kidney Care professionals and equipped with advanced hemodiafiltration machines integrated with electronic medical records, enabling real-time monitoring and data analytics to enhance patient care.

19 Aug 2025 17:33 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)In collaboration with the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi (DCD), the Family Development Foundation (FDF), and PureHealth, have provided the Obtain Temporary Alternative Care for Senior Citizens service, as part of the Barakatna initiative, launched by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al service aims to strengthen the role of individuals in caring for their parents, enhance the quality of life of senior citizens, and ensure they receive safe social and healthcare services that support their psychological and social for Senior Citizens Programmes at PureHealth, Sheikha Mouza bint Khalifa Al Nahyan, said, 'My commitment to community service has always stemmed from a deep desire to give back, especially to the senior citizens who shaped our identity. As the ambassador for senior citizen-related initiatives at PureHealth, I'm honoured to lead efforts that uplift and support the well-being and inclusion of elders in our society. These initiatives aim to foster a culture of respect and intergenerational communication, and to encourage the younger generation to take responsibility for continuing this human legacy as a way of giving back.'Director of the Strategic Planning and Institutional Development Department at FDF, His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Baloushi, said, 'The Obtain Temporary Alternative Care for Senior Citizens service provides relief for primary caregivers of elderly parents who require constant assistance. The service is available once a week for up to eight hours per day, totalling 48 days annually. It eases daily burdens and supports personal and social balance.'His Excellency emphasised that both the applicant and the senior citizen must be UAE nationals, holding family data issued by the Abu Dhabi emirate and residing permanently in the applicant must be a first-degree relative (son or daughter), residing with the senior citizen in the same household and fully responsible for providing care. The senior must require full-time assistance due to mobility challenges or an inability to perform daily activities of the Family Development Department at FDF, Her Excellency Wafa Mohammed Al Ali, outlined the registration process: Applicants must submit a request via the TAMM platform. After submission, they receive a scheduled home visit for social assessment. Once approved, the applicant selects the service appointment date and time through Abu Dhabi Government digital services platform, TAMM. Group Chief Sustainability Officer at PureHealth, Leya Aldamani, said, 'As we mark the Year of Community, we are proud to cooperate with the FDF and DCD in providing the Obtain Temporary Alternative Care for Senior Citizens service. Sharjah heat safety drive covers construction sites, delivery bikers
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah and several government and private entities, has completed six major awareness stations as part of the 'Prevention of Heat Exhaustion' campaign. The initiative, taking place in Sharjah throughout July and August, coincides with the midday work ban and supports the Year of Community initiatives. Its primary goal is to protect workers and promote health awareness during the high summer temperatures. Now in its 14th edition, the campaign is held under the slogan 'Your Safety is Our Goal.' It focuses on educating workers about the dangers of heat exhaustion and how to prevent it, emphasising the importance of proper health practices during the peak heat season. The initiative is part of national efforts to raise awareness and safeguard workers from extreme weather risks. The campaign has reached thousands of workers at key locations across Sharjah, including various cultural and sports clubs and centres in areas such as Sharjah city, Al Hamriyah, Al Dhaid, Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn. Awareness activities at these sites included lectures on the risks of heat exhaustion, first aid demonstrations, field medical check-ups, and the distribution of protective items to help workers stay safe in the heat. Additional awareness events are ongoing at other locations, including the Sharjah Cement Factory and Al Qasimia University Theatre. In addition to scheduled events, the campaign included field visits where health professionals educated workers on health procedures and advised employers at construction sites and factories about the importance of preventive measures. For the first time, the campaign also included new target groups such as cleaners, gas station workers, public park and parking staff, delivery personnel, and female workers. These groups were provided with vital information on how to minimise their exposure to heat and prevent exhaustion. Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of the Ministry's Representative Office in Sharjah, emphasised that completing these awareness stations marks a vital step in the country's broader strategy to protect worker health. The Health Education Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs stated that the campaign underscores the importance of empowering workers with the knowledge to adopt healthy practices. The third-hottest July worldwide ended a string of record-breaking temperatures, but many regions were devastated by extreme weather amplified by global warming, the European climate monitoring service said on Thursday. Heavy rains flooded Pakistan and northern China; Canada, Scotland and Greece struggled to tame wildfires intensified by persistent drought; and many nations in Asia and Scandinavia recorded new average highs for the month. 'Two years after the hottest July on record, the recent streak of global temperature records is over,' Carlo Buontempo, director of the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service, said in a statement. 'But that does not mean climate change has stopped,' he said. 'We continue to witness the effects of a warming world.' As in June, July showed a slight dip compared to the preceding two years, averaging 1.25 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial (1850-1900) era. 2023 and 2024 warmed above that benchmark by more than 1.5C, which is the Paris Agreement target set in 2015 for capping the rise in global temperatures at relatively safe levels. That deceptively small increase has been enough to make storms, heatwaves and other extreme weather events far more deadly and destructive. 'We continued to witness the effect of a warming world in events such as extreme heatwaves and catastrophic floods in July,' Buontempo said. Last month, temperatures exceeded 50C in the Gulf, Iraq and -- for the first time -- Turkey, while torrential rains killed hundreds of people in China and Pakistan. In Spain, more than a thousand deaths were attributed by a public institute to the heat in July, half as many as in the same period in 2024. WAM
